As soon as I walked in my door I leaned against it and sighed.

I could have cried right then, this is the kind of day when you need to come in with dinner cooking and a mum to cuddle and for her to say ‘everything will be alright’ but that will never happen.

Before I could think anymore the phone goes off, which is weird because I never get phone calls

“Hello” I said cautiously

“Hey Hel, Its Mikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey” I laughed, the new way of saying his name this week.

“Hey, Mikey”

“Would you like to come over this evening, Gerard’s out and I have ice cream!” He said the last part excitedly and I grinned, he knows me so well.

“Sounds great mikes, where do you live?”

“He told me the address and I quickly threw on some different clothes and left, it was only a few minutes away”

~ Mikey’s house ~

I knocked on the door and in about 5 seconds Mikey answered,

“Hey Helly Welly”

“Hello mikes, now where is that ice cream, I need about 2 tubs” I said, grinning and rubbing my hands together

“Of course you do sweetie, come on let’s get brain freeze” he said giving me the dazzling Way’s lop sided smile.

I was leaning on Mikey and he had my arm around me whilst we were on our third tub and second action film when the door opened. Mikey looked at me shocked and I knew what this meant. It meant the one person I didn't want to see was home.

“What is he doing here, I thought you said he was out for the night” I said in a hushed angry voice.

“I don’t know, he was spending the night with his girlfriend” he answered back. For some reason I was hurt a little bit my that answer, but I shook it off.

“Well do you want to ask him?” I whispered

“oh right yeah” … “Gee, what are you doing back, you weren't meant to be back till tomorrow, right?”

He answered back from the kitchen “We got in a stupid fucking fight and I dumped her, all she has been doing is suggesting that all the girls in the school have been coming on to me, I mean there is jealously and then there is that so I fucking dumped her”

“Fucking finally dude, I never liked her” he turned to me and whispered “she was a slag, and came on to me a couple of times but gee didn't believe me”

I heard footsteps and relaxed back onto Mikey again thinking he was going upstairs to mope. I was wrong.

“shit, sorry I thought you were alone, hello Helena” he said giving a half smile.

Before I got to answer, Mikey butted in “So what bought the argument on?”
“Ha, well funny story actually, her parents were asking what I do for a living” Mikey, once again butted in.

“Her parents? You had an argument in front of her parents?”

“Well yes but we were in the other room, I'm pretty sure they could hear though. I’m glad actually, she was starting to get annoying, all her her fucking her, good riddance”

I stood up, “I better go. I can see myself out, bye” as I walked out I heard whispering.

“you too dating then?” I heard Gerard say, it sounded like he was annoyed?

“No gee, I just invited her round to be cheered up”

“You looked pretty cosy” he was defiantly annoyed, I decided to leave quietly before it looked suspicious.

All the way home I was thinking about what he said to Mikey when I had ‘left’ and why I felt so relieved and happy when he said they broke up, I can’t have feelings for him. Can I?

I returned home and fell straight into bed and asleep, not bothering to get changed as I was exhausted and confused.
