To The End

Chapter II

I jolted awake to the sound of an alarm clock going off at four-thirty in the morning. I knew it wasn’t mine, because there’s no way I could drag my butt out of bed that early and had set my own alarm for five. It must be Jade’s alarm in the next room over. I heard sounds from her room and knew my assumptions were correct. As much as I wish I could have gone back to sleep, the dread of school in a few hours was going to keep me awake so I decided to get ready. November in New Jersey is now exactly the most pleasant weather. There were a few feet of snow and it was quite foggy. I didn’t exactly unpack, I just tossed everything into a pile on the floor, so I had to dig around a bit to find everything I wanted. I decided on my grey joggers and All Time Low sweatshirt along with my favorite Converse high-tops. I threw those on and did simple natural looking makeup. My hair was messy so the last thing I did before heading downstairs was putting on a beanie to contain my curly, emerald green locks.
I came downstairs to discover my sister sipping tea and scrolling through her phone. “Did you make sure Alex is up?” She asked. “No, but I can get him. Alex! Get up, we need to go!” I heard shuffling upstairs and a few minutes later a sleepy Alex appeared in the kitchen. “Are you ready to go? We don’t wanna be late on the first day.” Yeah, yeah” He groaned, “I just need my backpack.” A few moments later we were all out the door. Jade was more than ready to rush towards the bus stop, but Alex was hesitant. He’d had problems with kids on the bus before, so I convinced her to just walk the two blocks to school with us this time. She agreed reluctantly, and before long we were there.
Upon arriving at school we went our separate ways for the day and I headed off to find my locker. It didn’t take too long to find, it was the unlocking that was the tricky part. After jiggling the lock for a moment I heard a voice behind me. “Do you need help? These locks have a trick to opening them.” I turned around to see a boy with shoulder length black hair and hazel eyes. “Uh, sure. Thanks.” I replied and smiled at him. In a matter of seconds he popped the lock off of the door and turned back to me. “Thanks again! My name’s Amelia, by the way.” He grinned and just as he was about to speak the school bell rang. He shot me a last quick glance before running off to class and said “I’m Frank, and I’ll see you at lunch?” “Alright!” I replied, almost laughing. And like that, he was around the corner, out of sight.
