*Amelia's POV*

"Hey, Amelia!" I hear a muffled voice outside my headphones. I look up and it's Alex. "What is it?" I ask him. He's been almost silent on the twenty-nine hour trip from our last house to the new place. "We're here, wake up Jade!" he exclaims. I turned to Jade and shook her awake. "Really, Ami? Was that necessary?" "Yeah," I scoffed, "We're here." Suddenly her grouchy, half asleep expression faded and she was wide awake and eager to leave the car. "Finally! I can't wait to see the new house!" "Why are you so excited?" Alex chimed in, "It's not like moving is new anymore." She snapped back "I'm trying to be positive. You two could at least attempt to have a good attitude for Mom's sake." I realized she was right, we needed to keep our heads up for her. "Okay," I answered, "We'll try"
Not five minutes after I brought my last box upstairs, Jade busts through my door and practically shouts, “We start school this Tuesday!” Fantastic. I had four days to prepare myself for a new school and new kid issues all over again. “Okay. Thanks for letting me know, Jade.” She nodded and bounded towards her own room. I sighed deeply and wondered to myself how she could be so enthusiastic and full of energy.
I decided that after a long car trip, coffee was appropriate at seven p.m., despite what my sister thought. “Alex, you want some coffee?” I shouted up the stairs. He was in the kitchen so fast you’d think it was magic. “You are a lifesaver!” He exclaimed. “Heh, I know.” I chuckled. He looked at me and his expression turned serious. “So, you know we’re starting school in like, four days?” I nodded. “I don’t know why Jade seems so happy about it.” He muttered. I shrugged. “I’ve been wondering the same thing, but at least that makes one of us.”
After a few moments that felt like an eternity, our coffee was finally ready. I brought some to Alex. After a moment of discussing school, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and turned around to see my mom. “Oh Ami, Alex, there you guys are. Have you unpacked yet?” We shook our heads. “Well you know you don’t have much time before school starts so you’d better get your things ready. I have to go to work early tomorrow so you’ll have to take care of each other and getting everything I order.” Alex looked disappointed, I knew he wished she could be here for longer before she went to work. “Alright, I’ll help make sure everything gets done around here.” I said in the most cheerful tone I could. “Thank you. I love you guys, and I’m so sorry to have to move everyone again.” “It’s alright” Alex replied, “We love you too.”
