Danger Days; the True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Destroya, Destroya, We Are Waitin’ For Ya (Keep Running)

<<*Sunshine’s P.O.V*>>

I woke up in my room/cell. It was dark, and I felt like I was going to throw up. To add on to that, I was extremely lightheaded. I sat up, and I felt a dull stinging on the inside of my right elbow. I looked down to it and saw a yellow smiley face sticker right where Dr. Crow had drawn blood. I couldn’t help but laugh at the irony of it.

“Attention,” There was an intercom announcement, “Intrusion alert. There are intruders,” the calm female voice said. I knew immediately who it was. It was the Killjoys, coming to my rescue. With the lights still off, I scurried around for my boots, and my jacket. I quickly kicked the light switch on the wall in, making it unusable, and crouched down near the opening of the door. I was sure it was locked, so I’d wait for it to get open. I knew Dr. E wasn’t stupid, and that the boys had come for me.

I was right, it turns out. The door opened not long after I kicked in the switch, but I was surprised to see only one Draculoid. My first reaction was to nail in the balls with my fist, and take his gun. I ran out of the room just as the lights of the building went off.

<<*Party’s P.O.V*>>

We had a plan, but our break in wasn’t planned out. We drove through the tunnel leading towards the Better Living fortress at high speeds, and sped right through the gates, breaking them in, and leaving a few very confused Draculoids in the dust. We drove until we reached the front of the large building, and skidded to a stop. We all climbed from the car, and ran into the front. Fun, Jet, and I ran down a corridor as Kobra split up. He had no idea where in the building Sunshine would be, but we’d search every single corner until she was found. We kept running, looking into empty rooms when the power went out, which was Kobra’s contribution to the plan. After, he’d stay in the front and wait for us to return – if we returned. I couldn’t think like that, though. I had to focus on getting Sunshine, she needed to be safe.

The building made a humming sound as the lights all went off, and there was no more power yet. According to Kobra, we wouldn’t have much longer until a backup generator went off, in which Kobra had to find and turn off as well. My quick walking turned into a run as the others looked through rooms in order to find Sunshine. As I turned a corner, I saw somebody running right at me, and I had my gun poised to shoot at the figure, until I saw bright green hair. I quickly placed the gun in the holster, and took the few steps that closed the distance between us, and wrapped my arms around her.

“Oh my god, I’m so fucking happy to see you,” I breathed. She smelled fresh and clean, and she was wearing the pure white clothes from Dr. E, though she still wore her boots and leather jacket. Her face was clean from dirt, and her hair was brushed through.

“I’m happy to see you, too,” she said, and then pulled away, “Now let’s go, because Dr. E will kill you without hesitation,” she instructed, and I nodded. I grabbed her hand, and started running back towards the front when the back-up generator powered up.

<<*Third Person*>>

There wear tears in Sunshine’s eyes as soon as Party took her into his arms. She had honestly thought she’d never see the four boys alive again, and that’s how Party felt about Sunshine. He didn’t know whether she would have been dead or alive upon his arrival. She quickly flicked the tears away as Party grabbed her hand, and began leading her towards the exit, wherever it would be. She was happy to see Jet and Fun, but she searched around for Kobra.

“Where’s Kobra?” Sunshine asked fearfully. She could only hope that he was okay.

“Party,” Kobra’s voice was a harsh whisper as he joined the four from down the hall. He jogged up to them, and looked like he was out of breath, “There’s tons coming from everywhere in the building,” he informed the group. Party pursed his lips, and gently tugged on Sunshine’s hand.

“Then we have to get the hell out of here,” he said, and he was absolutely right. The exterminator walked a few floors above them with a posse of Draculoids behind him, and they all bunched into an elevator. He had a stone scowl on his face. How in the world could four immature idiots take what belonged to him? He jabbed the ground floor button with his finger, a large surprise that the button didn’t break in. The tall man snatched the gun from his own holster, and as soon as the ding of the door signaled that the door was opening, they were walking down another hall.

The Killjoys walked quickly down the hall that they were walking in, hoping they were prepared for whatever would meet them in the main entrance. There was no way retrieving Sunshine would be anywhere near easy.

Dr. E watched the ending of the hall he was walking through, and saw the Killjoys quickly walking by. The scowl didn’t move from his face, and it wouldn’t until he had the girl back, and all four of the Killjoys were dead. It was a shame, he thought, Party was an amazing kid. The direction he went in went totally against his plans, though, and Dr. E was not okay with that.

Party knew that Dr. E and his Draculoids were behind him. Then again, they most likely weren’t trying to keep it a secret. He knew exactly what direction this was going to go in – not everybody would get out of here alive. That was okay, though, as long as Sunshine did. As long as she did, and she would be free forever. As this thought came to Party’s mind, he quickly turned around, pointing his pistol at the Draculoids, and he started shooting. The rest of the Killjoys followed that lead as hell broke loose. Sunshine, however, started screaming in fear. She was unarmed, and she held her hands over her ears as she started backing up towards the doors. She couldn’t believe all of the bodies that were falling around her, and Party couldn’t believe all of the backup that were entering the room. He became overwhelmed, and didn’t even know what to do. He watched as his friends were among the chaos, shooting people, and watching those people fall. He grabbed the black hair of one of the white Draculoid masks as one drove by, and a realization hit. These were all people, and Party was killing them.

Dr. E took Party’s distraction as an advantage, and quickly cornered him against a wall, holding him by his neck. His scowl turned into a grin, an evil and cynical grin. Things were going his way, and in this one on one, he’d win, just like he knew he always would.

“Party,” he said politely, even though he had just put the tip of his pistol against Party’s neck.

“Dad,” he hissed.

“It’s such a shame, son,” Dr. E started, “You were the smart son, and so amazing at what you did. You’re brother always tried to be in your shadow. Now you’ve ruined everything for yourself,” his voice was low, but very brutal.

“I’d die before I’d do anything for you again,” Party hissed again.

“Very well,” the Exterminator didn’t hesitate before he pressed his finger down on the trigger, and watched Party’s body fall lifelessly to the ground with satisfaction, but Dr. E wasn’t the only one who saw. Kobra and Sunshine also saw, their eyes going wide.

“NO,” Sunshine screamed, running towards him, Kobra doing the same. Kobra took no remorse as he shot at Dr. E, landing a bullet right into his head. Not soon after, he was shot down by a Draculoid. Sunshine couldn’t take what was going on, there were too many, and now there was only Jet and Fun. Jet grabbed Sunshine by the arm, pulling her towards the exit with Fun following behind.

“There are too many,” Fun said.

“Yeah, so let’s get in the car and get out of here,” Jet demanded, but Fun hesitated, “Fun,” Jet insisted.

“You go, I’ll hold them back,” Fun said, slamming the door behind us, and I could see him shooting off the villains. Right as Sunshine and Jet got to the car, though, Fun was shot, and the Draculoids started piling from the door. There were tears running down Sunshine’s face at that point. As the two ran to the car, Jet was shot, and landed on the hood of Party’s car – the one he loved so much.

“Sunshine,” There was a voice calling for her from a van parked on the road. It sounded exactly as Dr. Death Defying’s voice had. She didn’t hesitate before running over to the van and jumping in. Her head was clouded for sure, but she could still hear that the van was being shot at. She wasn’t sure of much at this point, but she was sure of two critically important things at this point. One, Dr. E was dead. Two, all of the Killjoys were also dead. Sunshine’s heart dropped as this thought entered her head. The emotions overwhelmed her to the point where she passed out.

<<*Sunshine’s P.O.V*>>

I wasn’t fully conscious, I knew that, but my body ached. My head was swimming, and I had a strong feeling that I needed to throw up. I didn’t remember exactly what happened right away, and I fished for the memories, and I was heartbroken as they came back. The four guys I’d come to love were all dead, but I was safe. But who saved me? I egged myself on to open my eyes, which proved an easy task because it wasn’t very lit up in the room. The only light emitting into the room was pouring under the doorway. The window curtains were shut, which didn’t matter, I figured it was night time anyways. A groan escaped my lips as I pushed myself up, and I became light headed as soon as I tried standing up. I tried again, but this time I was more successful. I’d have to go face these people, and find out who they were. I just had high hopes that I was in good hands. I shuffled my feet towards the door, and slowly opened the door. The creaking sound it made was almost painful.

“That damn door’s never had silent hinges,” the voice of Dr. Death Defying said, causing me to jump. I looked up at him with wide eyes. He was a tall and muscular man. He had brown shaggy hair that went a little bit passed his shoulders, and a matching mustache and beard combo. He had sea green eyes, and an American flag bandana that was wrapped around his head. He wore black pants, an off-white shirt with a denim vest covering it.

“You’re the guy on the radio,” I stated quietly, and the tall man smiled.

“You can call me Felix,” he said with a smile.

“What…what happened back there?” I asked, “I hurt all over.” I knew what happened, of course, but I had to hear it from somebody reasonable to come to terms with it.

“The Killjoys saved you,” he said, and I could tell he wasn’t too happy about what had happened to them, “And you saved them.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, not very sure on what he meant.

“I mean that they’ve spent the last seven years searching for you,” he said, and sat down on his couch, gesturing towards the chair on the other side of the coffee table. I took my seat so he could continue his explanation, “That was their only purpose, to find you and keep them safe. When they did, they grew attached to you. When Party died, Kobra killed the Exterminator. Now you’ll be safe for the rest of your life, and that’s what they devoted themselves to.

“Four lives for one? That doesn’t make sense,” I said, disagreeing with what he said.

“No, Sunshine, four lives for the rest of the world. You’re importance was so much bigger than you could possibly understand,” he explained, and I nodded.

“Dr. E explained it to me. I’m just not okay with the fact that they died because of me,” I said, placing my face in my hands.

“You don’t get it,” his voice was soft, “they didn’t die because of you, they died for you.”
