Danger Days; the True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Let's Blow An Artery

<<*Party’s P.O.V*>>

“Don’t want to tell me?” Dr. E’s face grew into a manical grin that nearly had me crapping my pants, “that’s just dandy, because we already know where she is,” I didn’t believe him at first. No, he was bluffing, trying to throw me off track so I’d say something stupid that would really reveal where she was, “I guess it wasn’t so smart to put your little girlfriend in the junkyard as you thought. You misunderstood me a while back; I’m everywhere,” My heart stopped. He did know, and she was in danger. I put Sunshine in danger. I tried to run past him, but he stopped me, and for what seemed be the thousandth time, his gun was right on my forehead, “Now, now. You’ve been hogging her. I think it’s our turn to have some fun with her. Now until I get the okay, we’re going to stand right here, like this, and you can’t do anything about it.”

“We’ll kill you,” Fun hissed.

“And I’m sure you will. Actually, I’m pretty sure you won’t. This just may be the last time you ever see me, because you won’t be alive,” he said kindly. Not once did he raise his voice. The only thing I wanted to do was rip him apart.

<<*Sunshine’s P.O.V*>>

I couldn’t help but worry about the boys. It seemed like a daily basis that Dr. E was on their tails, and I was in here hiding. It’s like Party knew exactly what he was doing when he built the place. My heart jolted as there was a knock on the door, and it wasn’t Party’s usual knock. Perhaps it was Fun, Jet, or Kobra. I walked to the door, opening it, and watched it slam back against the wall. I was pushed back as a few Draculoids pushed into the room, and started binding me up. I screamed, even though I doubt that would have done absolutely any good. The Draculoids thoroughly bound up my legs so I couldn’t walk, and it didn’t matter, because they carried me back to a black car, and threw me into the back right before taping my mouth up. One of the ‘Loids got in back with me, and held a gun to my head as the other two got into the front, and the driver took off to I don’t know where.

They got me, that’s all I could think about. I was done for…but they’d leave the Killjoys alone. They lived before me, and I know they’ll live without me. That was the one thought that lifted my heart, that I wouldn’t be putting my saviors’ lives into danger anymore. I’d finally calmed down, and sat back in the seat. I didn’t look at any of the people in the car, but stared out the window.

<<*Party’s P.O.V*>>

Dr. E seemed to be listening to something very carefully, and his grin seemed to have gotten bigger and his eyes landed right on my. It sounded like he was about to start laughing, but instead he started talking, “And there’s the okay. We have the girl, and don’t bother trying to come get her. We’ll kill you right in front of her, and then we’ll kill her,” he said before he turned on his heel and walked to his car. The Draculoids didn’t take the gun off of me or the rest of the Killjoys as they backed up to the car and got in. I felt panic, and no matter what he threatened, I couldn’t just let him have Sunshine. It was my job to protect her.

A job that I failed.

“Party, what the hell are we going to do?” Kobra asked, bringing me back to reality. I was already planning her escape in my head.

“I mean, is that really a question? We have no choice but to save her,” I said, and walked over to the booth to sit down. I felt like I was going to collapse .

“Well, that was a given. Yeah, we got to go get her, but what’s the plan?” he asked, sitting down across from me.

“We need to be thought out and planned, because not only is our lives on the line, so is hers,” Fun chimed in, sitting against one of the walls.

“I miss her,” Jet claimed, laying in the booth behind me, “Why did we have to go to the danger zone? She’d be here with us right now.”

“It’s not like we planned to have her taken,” I hissed defensively. In all honesty, I knew it was my fault they got Sunshine.

“I know, I know, Party. I’m not blaming you,” Jet said quickly, trying to calm me down, but the truth was nothing could calm me down, not until I had Sunshine back, until I knew for sure that she was safe.

“Nobody is, buddy,” Kobra added, and I took a sigh.

“Well, we’ve had many great visits to Better Lives before, so we know many ways to sneak in,” I said, already starting the planning process. The sooner this was over, the better. Every second she was in danger, the worse I felt about the situation.

“They’ll expect that,” Fun countered, “They’ll block every entry. Not to mention, they need Sunshine. They won’t kill her until they’re done with her.”

“And it will take about a month to safely remove the amount of blood from her that they need,” Kobra said. They had a point, they needed Sunshine, so of course they wouldn’t just kill her.

“Who thought of putting the chemicals in somebody’s blood? I mean, wouldn’t your first thought of that it would kill the person?” Jet seemed to be deep in thought. The truth behind Sunshine’s importance is that when Better Lives started, they had plans in mind. They were building weapons and machines used for mass destruction and take over, which need the illegal chemical Zybad to run. At the time, Better Lives was already being watched by the government, so use of this illegal substance would mean game over, so they placed the chemical in a child’s blood, and as her blood cells multiplied, so did the chemicals. Her blood would be infected by the toxins for the rest of her life. They marked her and put her back in her family. Once the o-zone layer faltered, Better Lives came out on top, and once there was no more government, they were free to do whatever they wanted. Their one problem was that they couldn’t find the girl, because she’d been running non-stop for seven years, and the Killjoys have been chasing her.

The other three don’t know that I’d been tracking her for those seven years. I knew where she was at all times, and I fell in love with her from a distance. They was she talked, the way she walked, the face she made as she reacted to things. I’d encountered her many times in the past, but there’s no way she would remember those encounters. Then I told the other three that I knew Dr. E’s evil plans, and that there was a person that was the key. I didn’t tell them who, I was vague. If I exposed too much information, they’d get curious, and to answer Jet’s question, I was the one who thought of putting chemicals in somebody’s blood, into Sunshine’s blood.

“Party,” Fun’s voice was loud and directly in front of me, and he pulled me out of my thoughts.

“Yeah?” I asked, a little dazed.

“Were you listening to anything we just said?” He asked, and I looked up at him, and shook my head.

“I was in my own thoughts, sorry,” I admitted sheepishly, “But you guys have a point about Dr. E needing Sunshine. She’s the only thing that still has the chemical, and if she dies, so does the chemical. I think we should drive right into the fortress, and blow shit up,” I said, and they all nodded.

“That’s what we were just planning,” Kobra said from his corner, “Just so you know.”

“Great minds think alike,” I said, brushing it off.

<<*Sunshine’s P.O.V*>>

I’d been given a shower, with soap and shampoo, and then fresh clothes. I was able to brush through my hair now, and I was able to see my face clearly without any dirt on it. I didn’t feel gross. I had my own room, though I was confined to it, and I was able to keep one of my belongings. I decided on keeping the jacket that Jet gave me, the jacket that signified me as a Killjoy. I missed them more than anything, I admit, but now they’re safe, and that’s all that mattered. I was sitting on my bed as Dr. E walked in, and stood at the foot of the twin sized bed frame, “hello, dear,” he said sweetly.

“Sunshine. My name is Sunshine,” I corrected him. If there was anything I wanted him calling me, it sure as hell wouldn’t be dear.

“Oh, I know what your name is,” he assured me, which sent a shudder through my spine, “I’ve known you since you were a wee little girl. I’m surprised you don’t remember me.”

“How could I forget a head that shiny?” I asked, a cynical grin weaving itself onto my face.

“You’re very lucky, you know. You’re a really important girl. If you weren’t, you’d be dead right now,” he informed me.

“I’d rather be dead than in here with you,” I spat.

“Oh, which brings me to my next point,” he countered, “if you try and escape, I will kill your friends. If they try and break in, I will kill your friends.” He clarified, and I scowled at him. The truth was, they probably would try and save me, because that’s what the purpose of the Killjoys was, wasn’t it? To keep me safe, and the world safe from the evil plans of Better Living Industries? I got a sick feeling in my stomach at the though. Maybe they weren’t as safe as I imagined.

“So, the main reason I’m here, it’s time for testing,” he said, and I swallowed thickly, “and as we start, I mind as well explain to you your importance.”

“I don’t care to know,” I insisted, not budging from my seat.

“But I’ll tell you anyway. Come, come. We have a lot of work to do. Grin. Cheral,” he said, and two Draculoids came in through the door and lifted me from the seat. I went kicking and screaming as they dragged me out of my room and down a few corridors. I was led to a lab that was pure white. A woman with slick black hair pulled into a pony tail, and classing rimming her oriental eyes was standing against a table. The table had straps form arms and legs – my arms and legs. They placed me on the table, and strapped me down, though that didn’t cause me from attempting to kick and scream.

“Be still please,” the woman said calmly, and I paid attention to her. My limbs managed to calm down, though I was screaming inside my head, “I’m Dr. Crow, and I can assure you as long as you’re here and cooperating, you are safe. I guess before we get started, I should explain to you why you’re here,” she started, and I pursed my lips. I didn’t want to know. I didn’t, “There’s a chemical inside of your blood that Dr. E needs, because he planted it in you a while ago. With this chemical, he can power up things that will be great for this world, and make it a better place.”

“A better place for the people living here, or a better place for him?” I hissed, but her composure didn’t change.

“For the world population, of course,” she insisted, “Now, I’m going to start with taking some of your blood to see just how much of the Zybad is in your blood, and see if I can start pulling it from the blood cells,” she said as she went to go get the IV.

“I’m afraid of needles,” I said bluntly.

“That’s a shame,” she said as she walked over to me, “Then you’re really not going to enjoy this. I suggest staying still.” She put a band around my bicep, and started looking for an artery. Once she found one, she stuck the needle, and I felt like I was going to pass out. I watched my blood travel from my vein up through the clear tube. It was tinted green, and I wondered how I never noticed that. I started wondering if she was ever going to stop drawing the blood until I passed out.

<<*Party’s P.O.V*>>

“So we’ll wait until midnight,” I suggested, and got agreements from the other three, “That way, a lot of people at BL/ind will be asleep, making our attack easier.”

“So that’s the plan, then? Wait till midnight, attack, find Sunshine, and get out?” Kobra asked for clearance, and I nodded.

“Very thought out,” Fun said from his booth, eating a can from Better Living.

“It’s better than no plan, and if we’re able to kill the Exterminator in the process, then that will be amazing. After we have Sunshine, she’ll be freaked out of her whits, of Dr. E’s gone, she’ll feel more safe,” I said, and Jet nodded.

“I think I’d feel a lot more safe with him out of the picture, too,” he added.

“I’m not protesting, either,” Fun said. I looked at Kobra, who looked back at me. There was a certain pain in his eyes, and I knew that pain. I knew exactly what he was thinking, because I grew up with him before the danger days. Kobra was my actual brother, but neither Fun nor Jet knew it.

“It would be for the best,” Kobra said. He sounded pained, but I don’t believe Jet or Fun noticed the quiver in his voice, or the hesitation of his words. But the truth of the matter was that no matter how hard it would be for the two of us, Dr. E had to die. There was no other option, especially with his outrageous plan of world domination.

“Well, we should start getting ready, now. Make sure we have enough weapons and ammo. Take a shower, small nap,” Fun started as he got up. He was definitely into the plan, and I knew he wanted to get Sunshine more than anything. I couldn’t blame him. I got up from the booth, and walked to my room. I started gathering my guns, and all of my ammo. I found a bulletproof vest, and undressed my torso in order to put it on under my clothes. I noticed one of Sunshine’s bracelets on my art table, so I picked it up, and started examining. I didn’t hesitate before I slipped it onto my wrist. I was overwhelmed by her being taken, but it was alright. I’d get her back, and the Exterminator would pay.

Oh yes, he would fucking pay.
