First Day of Senior Year

James' POV

"You have got to be kidding me!" I yelled through the bathroom door at my brother, Jace.
"You're not the only one who has to get ready Jace! It's first day for all of us." I spat through the closed door.

"James, chill." Jace said to me as he opened the door and stepped out. I ran in and closed the door behind me.

I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, not putting on any make up. To be honest I've never worn make up and I don't own much. Only on special occasions will I put it on. Speaking of which, my (and all my brothers') birthday is in less than two months which officially makes us adults. I guess that's something to celebrate.

I was brought out of my head when I heard my other brothers, Justin and Julian, banging on the door.

"Dépêche toi, soeur! Puis-je vous rappeler qu'il y a huit d'entre nous dans cette maison? (Hurry up, sister! May I remind you there is eight of us in this house?)" Justin yelled.

"Bien! (Fine)" I yelled back. I unlocked the door and stepped past the two of them.

In my family of eight, there are seven boys, one of them being my father. I am the only girl. Looks wise, we all look similar. But I really do stick out because I look just like my mother did, and all of my brothers' are slightly modified versions of my father. We all have sandy blonde hair, but my brother Jace and I decided we wanted to change it up for senior year. He took on a flaming red and I decided on ink black. I love it myself, but my father says my natural hair is beautiful.

As my six brothers kissed my father goodbye and headed outside to catch the bus, I ate the last bite of my toast and straightened out my uniform. I grabbed my bag and was about to leave when I heard:

"Would you like a drive on your first day?" My father asked with his french accent. He was the only one of us who still had one.

"Je n'aimes toujours pas que je dois aller dans une école différente. (I still don't like that I have to go to a different school.)" I muttered, but agreed.

"You know it's best. And you need to stop speaking French when you're unhappy." he told me and handed me a helmet for his motorcycle. I strapped it on, got onto the bike behind him and off we went.

As he pulled into the parking lot of Queen of Peace High School people started to turn their heads, fascinated that their was someone on a motorcycle coming to school. He pulled up to where the other parents were dropping their kids off and stopped the bike. I quickly got off and undid my helmet, handing it to my father who drove off, going to work. Hearing footsteps behind me I turned and saw girls coming towards me.

I've never got along with other girls.

"Cool ride." One of them said. I'm not one to judge but holy hell she was wearing WAY to much make up.

"Thanks." I said and went to step around her.

"Wait," another one said, "we know a new face when we see one. What's your name?"

I thought of the news when I was a baby. Everyone knew my name. But when I was a baby, they were too, so as long as I don't meet their parents, I'm clear.

"Elliot," I told them, not trusting them with my first name.

"Well Elliot," the third and final girl said with a smile, "What class do you have first? We could show you."

"English," I simply said, unsure of the situation. They didn't seem like my type of friends.

"Me too," one of them said. When they wear so much makeup, they truly all look the same. "I'll take you." She turned to the other two and said, "Bye babes" and blew them a fake kiss.

She turned and linked her arm in mine, leading me towards the school. That's when a thought came to me. My teachers would have been old enough to know when I was born. It was world wide news. The seven siblings born at once. And all of them would have my full name on attendance.

Once again I was pulled out of my head when we walked into a large classroom and the girl sat me down beside her at the front.

"Um," I said questionably, "What's your name?"

"Devina" she smiled. It was not a smile I trusted. "Devina Claire Johnson"

I smiled and nodded my head, my attention was suddenly captured by two boys who walked into the classroom. Devina followed my gaze to they boys and turned back to me in a whisper, "Michael James Way and Frank Anthony Iero." she informed me. What's with people and using full names around here??

"I heard through Elizabeth Marie Jacobs that he and Rachel Baylee Brown did it in the back of his dads pick up in the summer." she said and glared back at the shorter of the two boys.

"Who-" I started to ask but she kept going.

"Elizabeth and Rachel were the other girls you met this morning. We're kind of a big deal here." she stated. Well shit. I don't want anything to do with these girls. I looked behind me towards Michael and Frank. They were looking back at me. In fact, the whole class was. I guess they don't get many new people here.

"Class!" The teacher got the attention from the front of the room, "Welcome to your final year of High School." He said and the class burst out with cheers, taking their focus off of me.

"Yes, yes. Very exciting," he said and turned his back to us to write on the board. In big, sloppy letters her wrote 'Mr. King'.

"For those of you who don't know," he turned back around, "my name is Mr. King."

His eyes scanned the room as he nodded but he stopped when he got to me. Everyone turned to look.

"Hello," he greeted. "I haven't seen you around, what's your name?" he asked and picked up the attendance sheet off his desk. Oh no. If I tell him he might know my family. I don't want everyone to know.

"James." I mummbled. Devina gave me a questionable glance.

"James, what?" he asked, scanning the list.

"James Elliot Gordon." I said.

"Je sais qui vous êtes, James. Au fait, vous avez dit votre nom, je suppose que vous ne voulez pas tous les autres aussi. (I know who you are, James. By the way you said your name I guess you don't want everyone else too as well.)" He spoke with a thick American accent. Well, everyone knows I'm French now. Great.

"Oui, monsieur King. Je ne savais pas que les professeurs d'anglais pouvaient parler français. (Yes, Mr. King. I wasn't aware the English teachers could speak french.)" I said and sunk deeper in my seat as confused whispers went around the room. I could see Devina with a look of shock on her face beside me.

The rest of the class went by quick with Mr. King just explaining how this semester was going to go and every now and then people would turn to look at me out of the corner of there eye. With one minute until the bell Devina asked me what class I had next. Everyone around us was backing up their things and heading to the door.

"Phys. Ed. The Co-Ed version." I told her.

"We do too." I voice coming from behind me said. I turned to see Michael and Frank making their way to the front where Devina and I were sitting. I'm not sure who said it.

"Well, I'll see you at lunch then. Bye babe" she said and blew me a fake kiss as the bell rang. She walked out the door.

"We can show you where the change rooms are." said a shy voice. I looked up (because the boy was much taller than me) into the eyes of either Michael or Frank. I didn't know which one. So I guessed.

"Sure. Thanks, Frank." I said. But I guessed wrong because they both laughed and told me it was the other way round.

We finally made our way to the athletic hall as Frank and 'Mikey' - he told me to call him - showed me where the girl's change room was.

~~~During Gym Class~~~
I stood between Mikey and Frank as our petite gym teacher told us her name was Mrs. Williams. She, like Mr. King, scanned the class and stopped when she got to me.
"James Elliot Gordon." she stated with a look of surprise. "What are you doing in New Jersey of all places?" she asked with a friendly smile.
"Family just moved." I stated casually, as if my family wasn't the most famous (with adults) in the whole world. "Please move on with the class." I told her and looked down shyly. Frank and Mikey exchanged looks.
"Right," she snapped out of it. She looked around the class one more time and said "We're starting with old school dodge ball. Two captains."
She looked at me, "James is first captain." shit.
She looked to her left and said, "Megan is second captain."
This made me realize Megan and I were the only girls in this whole class. Fuck.
Megan and I stepped out of the class crowd and faced everyone. Me, only knowing two people, said "Frank" as my first pick. He gave me a smile and came to stand beside me.
Megan said, "Mikey." and a light blush crept onto her cheeks. He walked over to her side.
I pointed at a tall boy with dark hair.
This went back and forth (me pointing while Megan actually said names) until there was no one left, and the teams were chosen. Both teams went to opposite sides of the gym as Mrs. Williams lined the balls up. I looked at my right to see Frank sticking his tongue out at Mikey from across the gym. I like those two.
Mrs. Williams blew the whistle and both teams shot of the walls and started drilling the balls at each other. Frank was first hit on my team. Megan was first on the other. It only took five minutes before everyone else from my team was out and it was me against five rather large boys on Megan's team. Everyone who was out sat with bored looks on their faces, assuming I would get drilled and the other team would win. Little did they know....
One of the boys through the ball quite lightly at me which I easily caught and through it back, hard and his team mate. It hit him straight in the balls as he fell to the ground. Two down, three to go. The rest of the class' eyes were wide and they sat up straighter. The three boys left looked at each other and nodded. Like I didn't know what that mean't. They all through their dodge balls at me and I dove out of the way, landing on the ground. I quickly got to my feet and remembered the trick I taught myself at my old school.
I picked up a ball and looked at the three of them, ready to catch my ball. I took a dead breath and took a slight running start before I took off, I flipped with no hands forward and drilled the ball at one of them. He didn't catch it. He walked of as cheers started to fill the gym. I was focused. His team mate picked it up and tried to rip it at me. I caught it with ease as Frank came back on with me.
I took another easy shot at another one of the boys and hit him in the legs. He walked off. Two on one now. He picked up the huge rubber ball and through it at my stomach. It hit off me and I fumbled it, and it went high into the air.
"Catch it, Frank!" I yelled and he jumped to catch it. He landed with a thud on the ground with the ball in his hands. We've won! The class around us burst into cheers and yells and Mrs. Williams ended the class there with a "very well done" extended to me.
Everyone was telling how it was "so cool" and how I just beat five of the best football players. I just smiled and went with it. The boys who I beat were glaring at me as they left the gym, soon followed by everyone else. Mikey, Frank and I stayed back.
"That was so fucking cool!" Mikey exclaimed and high-fived me.
"Language Mr. Way!" Mrs. Williams said as she walked towards us. She smiled at me and said, "I just want you to know, Mrs. Gordon, that cheer leading try outs are Wednesday for this years squad. From the athleticism you should today, I would like you to try out."
I looked at Mikey and Frank who were laughing to themseleves.
"I don't know..." I told her. "I'll think about it." I said and pulled Mikey and Frank out of the gym.
They stopped laughing half way to the change rooms and Mikey said, "You should come to my place after school with Frank."
"Yeah! You seem cool and we can help you get away from that makeup factory, Devina." Frank encouraged.
"Sure." I shrugged as we stopped in front of the girls change room. "Here's my number. It's not my cell it's my house because I don't have a cell phone." I told them, a bit embarrassed.
They didn't seem to notice.
"Okay, I'll call you when I clear it with my mom." Mikey told me as Frank entered the boys change room. "By the way my brother will probably be there too. Just wanted to let you know before you came into the house with so many boys around. But don't worry, my mom will still be home." Little did he know....
"Okay, I'll see you after school." I turned into my change room and changed, heading to lunch. I ate outside by myself and managed to find my last two classes. Before I knew it, I was running home to await the phone call from Mikey.
