Demolition Lovers

"Maintenant à l'hôpital où est née la première série de septuplets en France (Now to the hospital where France's first set of septuplets have been born)." the short reporter said into the camera Halloween morning, 1981. It was news all over the world that their was soon to be SEVEN siblings born at once. Their parents welcomed six boys - Jesse, Justin, Jace, Jack, Julian and Jimmy- and one girl - James - to the world. But their mother's body was too small to take it and died within four days, leaving the seven children to their father.

The man raised his seven children in France until the age of 10, where he found good work in California. After 7 years the family adapted to the American life style, and the man moved his kids one last time to Belleville, New Jersey.

This story follows the life of one of the children, the only girl in fact. Her name is James Elliot Gordon. She was expected to be a boy as well, and her mother picked seven boys names, not ever knowing one would be a girl. Her father chose to keep her name James, and her family often referred to her as Elliot.

The school year was fast approaching, as was the siblings' 18th birthday on Halloween.

The night before the children's first day of senior year, James lay awake in her room. She had a room to herself, but her brothers had to be two to a room. She was lying on her bed, looking at her ceiling and cursing herself for her bad behavior growing up. Because of the jokes and pranks she likes to play on people, James had been sent to a catholic school not far from her house, as her brothers were sent to the public school across town.

James decided this year would be different. No more smoking, or drinking. She would get good grades and meet a lovely catholic boy to marry. But she couldn't help but have a feeling that that just wasn't what she wanted.
