"Ok so here's your booth. Over there is the Mic and that's the script." The tech guy pointed out all the properties of my very own sound booth; apart from all the other voice actors. "We're gunna do some sound checks then we can start recording your voice for this week's episode,Ok?"
Things got switched around my manager got a call the other day and I won't be guest starring as myself, the Japanese voice actor for this character will be doing the original voice and I'll be doing the English dub of the character. Which saves time before going On Air and not going back to add another character to the animation.
I nodded and sat in my chair to look over the script once more. The tech people came over the intercom and told me to say a few words into the mic. First I go back and switch off the main lights in the room leaving the desk light above the script. I put on my headset which was similar to the one from BBC just without the mic attached to it. I scoot up in my chair and speak into the mic. The tech gives the ok then signals 3,2,1, LIVE and the red light goes on in the booth.
I tried to articulate every word as if I was really there. I think it's quite easier to do a voice than to actually act. I can make all the weird faces I want.
"Ok, Miss Mariko I think we have enough recordings for today, you're free to go at your liking, or you can start on some of tomorrow's script?" Mr. Ano says over the intercom just as I was taking off my headset.
I grab my bag , put my scarf and coat back on then head to the lobby where Jess was watching Hikaru.
"And now I'm finished with my drawing! Look isn't it cool?! I hope Mariko likes it!" I heard Hikaru scream from the other side of the door. I knock on the door.
"Well look who's here Hikaru" Jess says while getting up from the table to give me a hug."Your brother is just the cutest little thing."
"Look what I drew Mariko!" I runs up and waves his piece of paper at me."It's you and Gee!"
I studied the paper and indeed there was stick figure Gerard and I holding hands at what I think is the Amusement Park; in line to ride the Farris Wheel. "Oh, it's beautiful Hikaru, I should put it in my booth." I carefully folded the paper and kneeled down to hug him. "But I want to give it to Gee!" He snatched it away and put it in his backpack.
"Ok, well... next you see him you can give it to him." In fact I didn't know when we'd see Him and the band. It's been a while since we saw them. They said they had a lot of music production and tour planning things to do. Every now and then Gerard calls me but not much anymore. I told him that until Hikaru is in the hospital care I just want to be alone. Which Gerard some what well.
"Mariko, what's for dinner?"
"I dunno bud, what would you like?"
" MAC N CHEESE!"
"Alrighty then MacNCheese it is" I grabbed his hand and we walked out.
"Hey Mariko, look over there!" Hikaru turned around to grab his backpack off my shoulder. He took his drawing and ran through the parking lot for the car, a little too fast for my liking. "GEE LOOK WHAT I DREW FOR YOU!" He said as he waved the piece or paper in the air while he ran. Gerard is here? Ah, there he is. Sitting on the hood of my car with a cigarette in his hand. Gerard saw Hikaru and put it out. Hikaru jumped into his arms;hugging him. "Hey there Hikaru, how've you been?"
Hikaru eagerly waved the paper in Gerard's face."I made this for you!" Gerard stares at the paper a smiles."It's awesome Hikaru!" He gives Hikaru a high five. I come back from setting my and Hikaru's bag in the car. I hug Gerard quite awkwardly then return my attention to my brother.
"Hey uh, I know you said not to bud in with you and your brother's plans but..you said you'd take him to a concert since he seems to like the same bands as you...And we're going to be playing at Warped Tour on Sunday." ,Gerard whispered nervously,"I got two free tickets if you want to go..."
"WARPED TOUR?!? Are you kidding! Of course we want to go!" I said; speaking for both me and Hikaru.
"Great, I'll see you there!" Gerard gave me the tickets and bid us goodbye.
WARPED TOUR!! I totally forgot about that! Most of the bands we like are all going to be in one place!
~Warped Tour-
"Mariko look at that line!!", Hikaru jumps out of the car and dramatically points to the people in the line that's circling the entire parking lot.
I wondered where we were supposed to go, I was really hoping that we wouldn't have to stand in that line. Hikaru and I got to the area where the line started if you already had your ticket and where you could buy the tickets. We decided instead of going to the back of the line, we would got the the front and skip a few people as if everyone wasn't doing that anyway.
Out of the corner of my eye I see a guy walking by and something fall out of his pocket which I think was a ticket. Then another guy later picks something off the floor. I didn't think twice of it. Later I heard a guy say 'I think I dropped my ticket'. I feel kind of bad for that poor guy.
Anyway they were checking everyone's bag. We got through the gate and that's when all the glory begins. First thing is the monster eagerly stage, it was still quite early but a band was already playing. Merch tents peppered around the entrance gates and around the stage. There was an alley of tents leading up to where we can get the schedules and such. Hikaru was ecstatic. We walked around a bit to the different tents just to look.
Hikaru snatches the schedule from my hands and examines it carefully. He whispered to himself then snapped." Black Veil Brides 1:00 KIA Soul Stage, I See Stars 1:45 The stage next to that KIA Soul one,Sleeping With Sirens 3:05 KIA Soul Stage, BRING ME THE HORIZON 7:45 KIA Soul Stage!!!!!MARIKO!"
As of right now it's about time for Black Veil Brides. We walk all the way to the back where the KIA stage is and waited. "Mariko, listen! It's Memphis May Fire!" Hikaru pointed out the stage next the Soul stage. People around us were quite impressed by his outburst. It was so cute!
We listened to the end of Memphis May Fire but I have to admit I hadn't heard any of their music till now. My friend Taylor and I were talking about them the other day but I never got around to searching them up and listening to them.
I pulled out my phone and texted her.
-You know when you told me to look up Memphis May Fire?-
-Yeah?-

Black veil Brides took forever to set up their equipment. As soon as the flags with the BVB symbol went out you could be deafened by the loudness of Fangirls screaming towards each band member as they walked out onto the stage one by one. Lastly to go on was Andy. They started with their first song which from the latest album Wretched and Devine. Again to be honest since this album came out and the previous one I haven't been as DieHard for them like I was when I first listened to them. Hikaru likes them all them same as like the first song he heard. Don't get me wrong I love the albums but I just never exactly bothered to listen to the entire album. Right know I can't name the song they're playing but the crowd is signing along and moving.
I already know I can't get into the pit with Hikaru. I want him to have fun not come out with trauma. He's a bit young for that. At the end of BVB the crowd is screaming "BLACK VEIL BRIDES! BLACK VEIL BRIDES! BLACK VEIL BRIDES!" Like they do in the music for Perfect Weapon, even Hikaru.
We didn't stick around for them to talk and leave. Hikaru was too impatient for that. He wanted to got to the next stage to I See Stars. I don't know this one actually. Who would have thought a five year old would discover a band before I did. Hikaru: 1, Mariko: 4. It's a game we like to play. See which one can find a new band for us to obsess over. I like having someone to Fangirl with me.
Soon enough like Hikaru said in the car, it rained. He jinxed it. And we quickly got soaked. I had this cup of lemonade on my hand and I don't know what to do with it. So I put my finger over the opening in the straw. Useless I know.
Hikaru held onto my leg most of the time as other people were violently thrashing around with the music. I've got the give it Hikaru, this group is pretty good. Yet I could probably mistake the singer of I See Stars for Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens.
It's now almost time for SWS in fact. Here comes the mosh. Hikaru wanted to just sit on the outskirts of the crowd in the shade to listen. He ended up falling asleep. So we sat there for a good two hours. I didn't pay attention to who played next, just listened.
Hikaru woke up with a sudden new burst of energy and demanded we go to the Domo Stage to see Hands like Houses.In my head I hear a bell ding; Hikaru: 2, Mariko:4. After that Hikaru spots a tent where you can donate money and get some body paint. Knowing Hikaru I couldn't say no. I let Hikaru paint of my face,arms,and legs. I ended up with cat whiskers and flower then who knows what's else over my body. Squiggles and stuff. I painted cat whiskers as well as squiggles on Hikaru.
Hikaru remembered there was supposed some kind of Slip'N'Slide so we had to search for that. Once found we went through that thing about 6 times, getting soaked again.
Later Hikaru announced he was still tired and wanted to sit somewhere to wait for Bring Me The Horizon. We found a spot against the gates. He slept for a good amount of time. And believe me I wanted to as well. The bitter weather was fucking annoying.
I woke up my brother close to the time BMTH was going to start so we could walk to the stage. Hikaru groggily stood up and asked me to carry him. With him on my back we started for the KIA stage once more. I went to the furthest back of the crowd. There were stages and tents already being taken down and packed up. I sat down and put Hikaru in my lap.
About halfway through Oli had everyone in the crowd sit down and stay down on the pavement. When the music started everyone stood up anyway. There was two people on inflatable rafts crowd surfing for a race. Hikaru freaked out when the one going counter clockwise fell backward off the raft. If no one caught him, a fall like that could probably smash his head.
Hikaru decided to call it a day and head home. I feel as though I'm missing something. I just want a drink. Something cold, and with caffeine. I stopped at a corner store to buy a soda for me and my brother.
Once home I literally wobbled to my door, I had half a mind just to crawl. The walk from my front door to the bathroom was the hardest walk of my life! My whole body was quite sore.
I gave Hikaru a bath. Then took one my self, the person who invented soap is a god. After I put my brother to sleep. I collapsed on my bed face first. My phone rang, which was on the other side of the room. Great.
Fuck it I'm crawling. I pull on my bag to make it fall on the floor in front of me and grabbed my phone.
"Hello?"
"Did you see us?"
Shit.
