Hopeless Hearts

Just Look at All That Pain

Back in the present day, Gerard listened to Frank's story. He felt sick to his stomach as Frank described in detail what the boy had done to him, and he hopped down from the counter to stand in front of Frank. He pushed his hands through the space between Frank's sides and arms, and he slowly wrapped his arm around him. He pulled him close in a slow and gentle hug. "I am so, so sorry Frank. I never meant to bring up anything, I didn't even mean to kiss you. I just got drunk and when I get drunk I get stupid." Gerard whispered to him, and Frank heard it easily since the entire house was silent besides for them.
"It-it's ok.. I.. I'm honestly glad I got to get it out.. I've never told anyone.." He replied, just as quiet. His arms stung under the tightly wrapped gauze, and he pulled down his long black sleeves over the gauze, making his arms look slightly bumpy, before he hugged him back.
"Even after all of that.. It still feels good being with him.." Frank thought to himself as he closed his eyes in the hug, though opened them a few seconds later as Gerard pulled away.
After a moment of silence, Frank looked up at him. "How did you know my last name was Iero..?" He asked as he looked at Gerard, questioningly.
"Oh.. I.. uh.." Gerard tried to think of an excuse besides stalking him online, though luckily was interrupted by Frank's mom coming home. The two of them came out of the bathroom, and Frank's mom looked up at them with wide eyes.
"Oh..! Frank I didn't know you had.. uh.. company over.." she said, looking embarrassed.
Frank laughed. "He's just a friend, mom." he said, though his mom still looked a bit skeptical, especially after seeing them walk out of the bathroom together.
"Oookay, honey." She said with a smirk. "Well, would you two like me to make us.." she checked her watch, seeing that it was 6 PM. "... Dinner? Unless you two have already eaten."
"No, we haven't." Gerard said as he stepped forward and shook Frank's mom's hand. "And I'm Gerard Way. I live behind you guys." He said with a smile. "It's nice to meet you."
"Oh! Well it's nice to meet you too! And may I say that you're the most polite boy Frankie has ever brought home~!" She said happily.
"Mooom!" Frank hissed, embarrassed.
His mom just chuckled and went to start on dinner, making the three of them spaghetti and garlic bread as the two boys sat in the kitchen with her and talked.
Once Gerard had eaten, he regretfully decided to go home.
"I don't want to over stay my welcome.." he said, smiling warmly at Frank and his mother.
"Oh no~! It's no trouble at all. You're welcome here anytime!" Frank's mom said as she gathered their plates, taking them to the sink.
Frank walked with Gerard to the door, and Frank leaned on the door frame as he looked up at Gerard with a smile.
"So you've had a lot of boys over~?" Gerard asked with a grin.
"No, not like that." Frank said as he rolled his eyes. "I always have my friends over, my mom knows I'm gay, and therefore assumes they're all my boyfriends."
Gerard laughed, one of his first genuine laughs in a long time. "Heh. Well, I'll see you around, Iero." He smirked.
Gerard walked down the stairs of Frank's front porch, his smile quickly fading as he went over everything that went on in the hours he spent at Frank's house. He walked around the neighborhood, quietly opening the front door of his house and trying to sneak in undetected, though his father was waiting.
"You goddamn faggot. Where have you been all day?" He growled at Gerard, who sank back against the door as he closed it.
"I-I was at school.." he said, knowing much worse than what happened this morning was coming.
"You're a fucking idiot." His father roared. "You know they fucking call us when you're not at school, right?" He asked, grabbing Gerard tightly by the arm and bringing him into the middle of the room. He unbuckled his belt, and slid it out of the belt loops on his pants. He rose it in his fist, smacking it hard on Gerard's back, through his shirt. Despite the fabric barrier, it still hurt immensely, and the slap was heard throughout the house.
So were cries of pain from Gerard as his father hit him repeatedly, even making him take off his shirt at a point. Gerard was crying, his back raw and bleeding from being hit so many times. His father looked down at him, breathing heavily, but not ready to stop yet. He put his foot on his back, the pure touch of something to his broken and cut skin making him scream in pain. He was pushed to the floor by his father's heavy foot, before his father walked around and kicked him hard in the face. Gerard felt his heart stop, worried his father would kick his head so hard it would snap his neck, though at the same time he wished it would've, so he could be put out of his misery.
His father's foot hit his face right below his eye, though the impact hurt his eye as well. His father finally decided he was through, leaving Gerard a sniveling and sobbing mess on the floor.
And that's where he stayed, cold and bleeding out onto the floor, for the entire night.
