One more bite won't hurt

Court- Against (pt. 2)

A woman with enormous black boots, a stern look on her face who had her brown hair tied back into a neat bun, promptly stood up and addressed Seb.

"Sebastian, what relationship to you was Kaitlin Jones?" she asked.
"She was my girlfriend. Had been for 3 years." he replied calmly.
"Yes. We know that. How was your relationship with her. Good? Bad? Did you ever hit her? Abuse her? Like you've done in the past? Would you ever hurt her? Would you ever murder her?"

Seb's eyes narrowed, "I would never do that to her. And the other accusations against me of abuse are false, I was proven innocent in this very courtroom."
"But you have a history of violence and alcoholism, don't you?" She asked, a smirk creeping onto her face.
"No."
"And you were under the influence of alcohol on the night that you killed, weren't you."
"I told you. I was working away from home." he replied. Seb's lawyer, Chris Helders, tried to interject.
"Excuse me, please. You may present your evidence later on in the hearing..." replied the judge. Chris Helders sat down embarrassed, twiddling his brown hair between his fingers.

"And why can you not provide any proof of you working, sir? Is this whole 'secret job' just simply made up to cover up the fact that on that night you murdered your girlfriend in the dead of night?"

"Um..." Seb stuttered, "I cannot tell you of my job. I have been sworn to secrecy, nobody (not even the police) can know my job. If anybody found out about my specialist job it would be dangerous and risk the safety of hundreds of people."

"Hm. Sounds like an attempt of a cover up if you ask me. And anyway the mere fact that we found your fingerprints on a baseball bat that was found not 500 metres from the body; proves everything. Does it not?"

"Those cannot be my fingerprints. I was not around at the time. And if they were; how can you prove that they are from that night. Couldnt they have been from weeks ago?" Seb asked as he clutched the table with his fingernails.

"What? Fingerprints from when you abused another helpless woman?" she mocked.
"No. I have done no such thing!"
"And the fact that her skull was smashed in does not at all connect to the baseball bat, with YOUR fingerprints on it, which was found?"
"No. It cant. As I've said, I was working away from home."
"Bullshit."

"Excuse me. No." the judge tutted, sounding a little disappointed.

"Sorry." she replied. Anyway we also found cigarette ash of yours on Kaitlin's coat. With guess what? More of your fingerprints on her coat?"
"This can't be..."
"Yes. Let's put it this way Carter. Things aren't looking too good for you, are they? We have your fingerprints on the weapon which has smashed the back of Kaitlin's skull. We have found empty alcohol bottles in your house from that night which tells us that you were under the influence of alcohol. You have a history of violent crimes..." she smirked, "which would explain why you could push the victim into a tree which would cause her to be impaled by a tree branch and slowly bleed to death. Also fingerprints and cigarette ash were found on the body itself, while you are claiming that you were away working; for which you can provide no evidence for..."

The jury murmured in agreement.
