A Life in Hell

Gerard POV

The night was beautiful. There was a black moon, and the stars were incredibly bright. I couldn't help myself. I called out to Mikey, to let him know I was taking a walk. I gently shut the door behind me, making sure not to break the stillness of the night. I pushed my hair out of my eyes; the firetruck red was distracting. I thrust my hands deep into my pockets, then walked down the sidewalk towards the woods. I wandered along, taking in everything I could. The clean smell of the air. The sounds of nature as the creatures went to sleep. As soon as I reached the forest, I saw what I came for. I walked over to this giant rock, and sat facing the trees. Cars were passing by behind me, but I zoned out, letting nature take me where it would.

I couldn't have been sitting there for more than 20 minutes when my phone buzzed. It was a text from Mikey, asking when I was planning on getting home. Responding that I was about to head back, I slipped my phone back into my pocket, and took one last look at the forest. Taking in this last moment of tranquility before I went home, I stretched my arms, and yawned. Right as I opened my mouth, someone grabbed my arms and placed a cloth over my face. I smelled what must have been chloroform, and my last thought before blacking out was that I wished I had enjoyed my last bit of peace more.

Also: sorry for the short chapter. Trying to establish the conflict, and didn't want to story to get too convoluted this early in the plot.
