Where's your heart?

Chapter One

I walk down the darkened street with my hands in my pockets, replaying the events of earlier in the evening in my head. "Look Gee you're really nice and all but I think maybe you're confused" she had said as I stared back looking the very definition of what she was calling me. "What do you mean?" I asked, her head shaking slightly as she replied "You're gay Gee, it's ok to admit it." My stomach churns as her words echo in my head, I couldn't be, could I? I let my mind wander back to all the past relationships I've had, how for some reason they never seemed to last more than a few months until a loud cracking breaks me from my thoughts and just as I look up it starts to pour, soaking me in an instant as I break into a run, heading for the bar I can see a few stores up. By the time I make it there my clothes are sticking to me, my hair dripping down my face and making me feel disgusting so I stand under the awning for a few seconds, trying to shake off a little before going inside, figuring I can grab a much needed drink and warm up while I wait out the storm, hoping it will pass soon.

I take a deep breath before entering, the place packed, the music blaring and I make a path straight for the bar, taking one of the empty stools and the bar tender turns to face me, a short pale girl with long black hair and dark piercing eyes, a smirk on her face as she takes in my appearance. "Guess it decided to rain after all huh sugar?" She comments and I try to force a smile as I nod, her smirk widening until it's a full out smile and she chuckles to herself before saying "Hang on," turning and walking away through a door behind the bar. I'm about to turn around and take a look around the bar when the girl returns, a few towels in her hand and she smiles genuinely at me as she hands them over and says "Here honey, what can I get you while you dry off?" I smile gratefully at her as I take the towels and say "Whatever's easy." The girl chuckles as she turns and grabs a beer bottle, taking the top off and sitting it infront of me. "I like you, first ones on the house" she tells me and I smile as I sit the towel aside and grab the bottle, taking a swig before returning to trying to dry myself off. "So you all alone tonight?" The bartender asks and I nod, opening my mouth to reply when a familiar tune starts and the crowd behind me goes crazy, cheering and whistling and as I turn to see what the commotion is I notice the stage with the pole on it for the first time, a young guy dressed in skin tight black pants with no shirt on strutting his way out towards it, a pair of red heart shaped glasses covering his eyes.

My eyes widen as I quickly turn back around, the bartender coming over to take the now wet towels back and when she takes in the look on my face she giggles and says "See something you like up there?" "Uh I didn't....I mean I'm not...." I stutter out, the words you're gay rolling around in my brain and I clench my eyes shut tight, taking a deep calming breath when a warm hand on my arm startles me and I open them again, the bartenders eyes full of concern. "Hey you ok?" She asks and I swallow hard and nod, sighing before saying "Just didn't realise it was this type of place." A strange look flickers across her face for a second before she says "You should watch, Frank is really very good at what he does." The bartender walks off through the door again with the towels and I take another second before I turn on my stool again to face the stage, the guy on stage, Frank, moving his body to the music, his pants now undone but his glasses are still in place, his mouth moving and it takes a second for me to realise he's singing along with the song, the glasses suddenly making sense as the chorus repeats, his mouth forming the words "Don't break, don't break my heart, and I won't break your heart shaped glasses." As I watch Frank backs up against the pole, his hands sliding up above his head before he slides down to squat, his hands trailing down the pole before he moves them down to run down his shiny, oiled chest, his tattooed arms glistening under the stage lights and I feel something inside me stir, a feeling of want coursing through me. I watch, mesmerised, as his hands keep trailing down to the top of his pants, venturing inside as he tilts his head back, his mouth dropping open and the crowd roars, money being thrown onto the stage as Franks hand slides back out, his mouth closing into a sly smirk as he falls forward onto his hands and knees, crawling towards the crowd like a lion stalking towards its prey, collecting some of the bills and stuffing them into the front of his pants which earns him another shower of notes. The song comes around to another chorus again and Frank stands upright, his hands gripping the waist band of his pants easing them off his hips as he sings along again when a loud crack sounds, the whole building seeming to shake and the lights cut off, the music stopping and the roar of protest from the crowd becomes deafening.
