Gerard pov.






"I-its real?" I ask, still slightly astonished at the words coming out of my mothers mouth. She nods slowly, giving me a look telling me that she is for sure telling the truth. Whenever she gives me 'the look' I never doubt her.

"G-gerard." She starts, taking my wrist with her soft hands and wraps her delicate fingers around my rough wrist.

"Yes, mom?" I ask, turning towards her.

"I just want to show you something." She mutters, walking over to the book and flipping through all of the pages. Her eyes are narrowed and focused.

"Hm.." I can hear her mutter and I continue to watch her focused face twitch in confusion and determination.

When she finds the page she seemed to have been looking for, her entire facial expression changes and a grin takes over her once pursed lips.

She pulls what seems to be a neatly folded piece of paper and carefully places it in my hands.

"What is this?"

"It's a map." She whispers, looking around the room frantically like a madwoman.

"Mom? What's wrong?" I ask, looking at her panicked face.

She sighs, and rests a hand on my thigh.

"You can't let anyone know about this, unless I let you. If anyone with the government finds out we have this, we could be executed, so you have to keep it a secret until further notice." Her voice is very stern, and I nod, obeying her orders.

"Now open it."

I carefully unwrap the delicate paper, uncovering the secrets within its frail edges. When it opens up, I see exactly what my mother told me, a map.

"Why did you give me this?" I ask, my eyes raking over the many circles and markings littering the map. It looks old like its something very important, and according to my mom it is. Very.

"Oh." She says, sheepishly looking at the ground. "Well, when this government was placed in order, I was very against it. I hated the way they did things for this country, and I still do. At the time you were only six, way too young to understand the troubles we were going through."

When she says that, I immediately feel bad, even though I shouldn't. My mom was alone no father figure for me and she had to take on this alone.

"Well anyways, I felt that we could do so much more with this country. I mean, sure we're the most powerful country now, but that comes with cost. Like look at the way this country treats its people, we're clones. Everyone is the same. I'd much rather not be nearly as powerful, but be able to encourage individuality and make this country happy again."

I nod.

Wow me and my mother really do think alike.

"So what's this map for?"

"Its...where the Death Flower is."

"Really?"

She nods, pointing to many of the places circled and crossed out.

"This will lead you directly to the spot where it is. I tried to find it, but I you were only six, and I couldn't leave you at that early age, so I just never ended up going."

My mother tried to go and save the country, but ended up not going all because of me. A weight falls on my shoulders and guilt overwhelms me.

"Gerard, I want you to find the Death Flower. I want you to help this country, you're their only hope at the moment."

My heart stops for a minute.

She wants me to find the Death Flower?

"Me?" I ask in shock, pointing a finger at myself.

She nods, taking the map from me.

"You wouldn't go alone, of course."

"W-who else would go with me? Mom, I don't want you to go, I can't risk you getting hurt."

She chuckles a bit as if I had just told her a joke.

"Not me." She laughs. "I have someone, his name is Frank."

Sorry it took me so long to update! I've been extremely busy, I'm so sorry!

Also this is a kinda short chapter, but I just rlly wanted to update, so here ya go!

I'm going to try and update again real soon, maybe even a second one tonight...idk yet. Just be ready for the next chapter!
