Oh Baby Let Me In

Chapter 12

Frank's P.O.V. I got dressed for the date with a massive smile on my face. I wore a white shirt and a red tie. Finishing it off with a black pair of combat trousers and black converse. I just can't help smiling. I'm going on a date with Gerard. "You look good, honey." Mum said as she walked in my room. I leaned forward to look closer in the mirror. "Thanks." I said as I applied the red guy liner and smudged it a little. "I know you'll be patient with him." She added. "But remember he's still hurting. He doesn't need pressure. If he wants to leave, let him. But if you're being yourself, he'll love you." "Thanks Mum." On the way to pick up Gerard, I started to panic. What if he's changed his mind? What if he only said yes to get rid of me? What if he hasn't changed his mind and I upset him? What if I fuck things up between us before I even get the chance to start things? Before I know it, I'm outside the Way house and knocking on the door. The door opened and Jeremy stood there wearing a black pair of trousers and a white shirt. "Red's waiting in the lounge." He said, leading me in. My jaw dropped open as my eyes landed on Gerard. He was wearing black skinny jeans, a black shirt and a black leather jacket. He looked fucking hot. "H..hey, Gerard." I said after a few minutes of staring. He looked up at me through his hair and flashed an adorable, one sided, shy, nervous smile. "H...hey." He said, quietly. "You two ready to go?" I asked, sweetly. Gerard stood up, keeping his head down and his hands in his jean pockets. Jeremy stepped forward, looking at me. "Rules first." He said, straight faced. "You treat Red with respect. If you don't, I'll stomp on your head. You don't push him into anything. You do, I stomp on your head. You hurt him, I stomp on your head. You upset him, I stomp on your head. No exceptions. Red is my brother and best friend. I will take my life for him. Do you get it?" I smiled. "I get it. Basically if I step out of line, I get a free trip to a & e." Jeremy laughed. "Quick learner." He turned back to Gerard. He lifted his chin so he could look in his eyes. "How you feeling, Red?" Gerard met his eyes. "I...I'm sc...scared." He said, quietly. Jeremy stroked his cheek. "I'll be close by at all times." "P...promise?" Jeremy smiled. "I'll always be there when you need me." He said. "Remember our saying? Blue...." "....S...safe." Gerard continued. "Red...." "....Danger." "If they keep it blue...." "....my fr...friend are y...you." "But if they turn it red...." "...R...run or y...your d...dead." Jeremy stroked his cheek again. "Anyone who hurts you will have to run far and fast. Because you are so important to me. I've known you your entire life. I love you, Red. You know that." I felt a stab of jealousy. Gerard smiled at him. "I...I'm so glad I h...have you. I l...love you t...too." Hearing Gerard say that to Jeremy and not me hurt so much. Jeremy kissed his forehead. "Now I want you to promise to at least try to enjoy your date with Frank. He's a ass but he's a good kid." Obviously I'm just being stupid. Jeremy does love Gerard, but as a brother. I need to control my jealousy or I will end up driving Gerard away. "I...I'll try." Gerard sighed. "P....promise." Jeremy drove us to the small café. Gerard sat in the passenger seat while I sat in the back seat. But I didn't mind. Theo's served all kinds of food for all kinds of people. Vegetarian, vegan, meat lovers. Whatever you wanted, your guaranteed to get it at Theo's. I jumped out the car after Jeremy pulled over. Racing to open the passenger side door. I held my hand out to Gerard. "May I?" I asked with a smile. He bit his bottom lip, looked back at Jeremy, then turned back and put his hand in mine, sending a shiver down my spine. After I closed the car door, I looped his arm with mine. I could feel him shaking a little. When we finally entered the café, Jeremy sat two tables to our right and Gerard sat across from me. The ginger waitress, Jill according to the nametag, left us a menu. I smiled at Gerard as he looked down at the food choices. "What do you fancy, baby?" I asked. He bit his bottom lip. "I...I don't k...know." "It's okay. I'm getting the vegetarian lasagne and a can of soda." I stated. He frowned at the menu. "C...can I h...have p...prawn salad, p...please?" He asked, quietly, not looking up. "Of course, baby. What drink would you like?" His frown deepened. "J...just w...water, p...please." He said after a few minutes. Jill returned to take our order and the menus. Gerard kept his hands under the table and his eyes fixed on the vase of red roses in the centre of the table. "What you thinking, sweetheart?" I asked, curious. He run his left hand through his hair. Then resumed his previous position. "N...nothing." "Please look at me, Gerard." I pleaded. "I just want to see your handsome face." He shook his head but looked at me through his hair. "N..not h...handsome." He sighed. "Forget Brendon for tonight. Tonight's about you and me. Besides, his taste is obviously warped." I leaned forward and cupped my hand around my mouth. "Have you seen what the guy wears? He looks like a circus clown reject." Gerard giggled. My heart skipped several beats at the sound. I tried to keep up the jokes throughout the meal. It worked because he stuttered less and smiled more. By the time it took to eat our food, Gerard was smiling more. Every time he did, my heart skipped a beat. I paid for our food and Jeremy's too. After all, he was only here because of me. So it's only fair. "I need the b...bathroom." Gerard stated as we stood up. "I'll wait here for you." I said, smiling. He flashed me a smile, then headed for the men's room. I looked over at Jeremy and he smiled, giving me a thumbs up. Guess I'm avoiding a&e for now. Gerard looked upset when he returned. So I stood up fast, frowning. "What's wrong, baby?" I asked, grabbing his hand. He looked at our joined hands. "C...can we get out of h...here, now?" He asked. "P...please?" I tucked a stray hair behind his ear. "Sure, baby. Whatever you want. But what's happened?" He looked back at me. "That w...waitress cr...creeps me out." "The waitress? Why?" I asked, confused. "She...she f...followed me to the b...bathroom. She locked the d...door and...." He frowned. "And what, sweetheart?" He gulped. "S...she said I was h...hot and d...do I want to f...fuck her. A...another guy k...knocked on the d...door. So she g...gave me a n...napkin with her n...number on it." My frown deepened as I started to see red. "Did she touch you?" He shook his head. "S...she was r...reaching for my b...belt when the g...guy knocked. I b...backed up." "What's wrong?" Jeremy asked as he approached us. "Sexual harassment from that fucking waitress." I said through gritted teeth. "The bitch tried to get Gerard to fuck her." Jeremy looked pissed off. "I'm not having this." He turned around to head towards the counter, saying "Wait here." Over his shoulder. I put a possessive arm around Gerard's waist as we watched Jeremy kicking off at the waitress as the manager tried to calm him down. After the café fiasco, we headed to the park. It was a scenic one. It had a massive lake and plenty of trees and flowers. The view was breathtaking. The park paled in comparison to Gerard though. Gerard let me lead him around the park by his hand. Jeremy was a few metres behind us. "This park is awesome." I said after several minutes of silence. Gerard nodded, then frowned as he stopped walking. "You okay, baby?" I asked, frowning. He pointed to a spot amongst the trees. "Ryan." He said. I followed his finger to see Ryan Ross sitting amongst the trees, crying silently. "What the hell?" "You can't leave him like that." Gerard pointed out. "Help him." I kept hold of his hand as I led him towards Ryan. "What's the matter, Ry?" I asked, sitting beside him. "Brendon." He signed. "What's he done?" "I want to go public. But he refuses. I'm fed up with hiding. I'm not ashamed of being gay. He obviously is." "Brendon's gay?" I looked up at Gerard. "You already knew, didn't you." He nodded. "Is that why he bullied you?" I asked, shocked. He just bit his bottom lip. Ryan grabbed my arm so I looked back at him. "He bullied Gerard because he didn't want him to out him. That's true. But Gerard found out when Brendon made a pass at him in first year. Gerard said no." I looked back at Gerard. "Why didn't you say anything?" He sighed. "I p...promised." He admitted. "But he beat you up on a regular basis." I said, confused. "You could have avoided that." Ryan grabbed my arm so I looked back at him. "Brendon would have beat up Mikey or Pete. He already took Ray away. He threatened Ray. He knew how Mikey felt about Ray. He knew he could hurt Gerard by hurting his brother and his friend." I looked at Gerard again. "So you suffered to protect Mikey, Ray and Pete?" He nodded. "I had to." He looked so sad. "It was all my fault." "Why didn't you tell them or your parents? Even a teacher? Or Jeremy?" Gerard sighed. "B...Brendon's parents o....own this t...town practically." He hugged himself. "So a t...teacher wouldn't h...have been able to h...help. R...Ray and M...Mikey wouldn't have a ch...chance against B...Brendon. Pete t...talks tough. B...but he's nowhere near. J...Jeremy had a n...new life. H...he was h...happy." "You could have told your parents." He shook his head. "G...Grandma Elena has b...been sick f...for a long t...time." Tears spilled down his face. "T...they had to c...concentrate on G...Grandma Elena. I d...didn't want to m...make it worse for t...them." I reached up and rubbed his arm. "You are so amazing." I looked back at Ryan. "Where's Brendon now?" "Emperors Disco." He signed. I stood up and pulled Ryan up too. Then I led him by his arm and Gerard by his waist to Emperors Disco. "Where you going?" Jeremy asked, frowning. "To cause some panic at the disco." I gritted out. "At least for one circus clown reject." We arrived at the disco within five minutes. I spotted Brendon straight away. He was stood by the dance floor. So I stomped towards him, determined to be victorious. He turned to look at me just as I raised my fist. He hit the floor straight after. "What the fuck...?" He asked as he cradled his already bruising left jaw. "You are a pathetic dick." I snapped. "Beating a guy up for four fucking years just because he rejects you? That's un-fucking-believable. Then you make out it's because he's gay? When you're dating a sweet guy like Ryan. Your not worthy of such a great guy. But for some reason, he loves you. Be proud of that instead of hiding him away. You fucking idiotic prick." I took a breath then carried on. "Oh and by the way. I'm gay and I don't give a fuck what you or anyone else thinks." I took Gerard's hand, gently. "Now I'm lucky enough to have this hot guy waiting for me to continue our date. And I warn you now. If you ever so much as look at Gerard in a bad way, I'll castrate you. Do I make myself clear?" Brendon nods. "Good." I turn to Ryan. "Text me if you need me." He smiles and nods. I turn to Gerard. "I'm ready to go, baby." I lead Gerard back to the park, stopping at a bench and sitting down. After what seems like an hour, but only twenty minutes in reality, I turn to face him. Then I leaned forward and kissed him. "Gerard?" I asked, pulling away. "Will you be my boyfriend?"
