He's Not Dead, He Only Looks that Way.

“We should start a fire.”

Patrick was walking through Summit, passing by strangers. He doesn’t speak to anyone, even if he saw familiar faces. He just wants to get home, in hopes that his parents would be as happy as he is when they meet. Patrick hoped that he did not leave Lindsey and travel miles just to be greeted with anger and hateful comments .. or worse, even more neglect. Patrick walked down further down the sidewalk occasionally taking glances over his shoulder. He felt as if someone was following him even if he turned and saw that everyone was minding their own business.

Patrick walked a bit quicker and this time he heard the steps behind him, following at the same pace. Patrick could feel his body tensing up. He paused when he realized he was heading to his parent’s house-whatever this thing was, Patrick was leading it right to his parents. Patrick hesitated but turned into an alley where he faced the person-before he could catch a glimpse, a pair of hands pushed him up against the brick wall. Patrick let out a cry as his back smacked against the bricks. His eyes widen,

“F-Frank.”

Frank paused, “P-Patrick.” He quickly released him, “Sorry. I was too rough.”

“Yeah, no kidding.” Patrick hummed, “What are you doing here?”

“I’m looking for someone. I want you to come with me.”

“What? Why?”

“I’m afraid to go alone .. I did things-well, the cane made me do things and you’re good at talking to people to keep them calm-”

“I can’t, Frank. I’m finally heading home.”

Frank frowned, “Why go back? They treated you like you didn’t exist. You left the only home who treated you well.” Frank rested his hand on Patrick’s shoulder, “Lindsey loves you, Patrick. Your parents only started to care when you were gone .. do you really think they’ll keep it that way when you show up on their doorstep?”

Patrick bit his lower lip, “I don’t know.”

“Why take that chance?” Frank asked.

Gerard was playing with black smoke. He stared at it, “We don’t have the time to use the car. We should probably just use our abilities.” He looked over to Lindsey, “I’ll meet you guys there.” Black smoke hovered around Gerard’s feet before wrapping around his body, suffocating him in a dark mask before it faded away. He was standing on a flat ground of the Summit forest.

Lindsey appeared with Davy and Jenna. Lindsey looked around, “Why here? What makes you think Frank will come here?”

“The Summit forest is filled with witches, demons, and voodoo. It’s the most haunted landscape throughout Summit. If Frank is looking for someone, they’d be here .. even though we don't know who he's looking for.” He sighed, placing a hand on his hip, “It’s a big forest but we shouldn’t split up. We’re surely die.” He looked over to Jenna who seemed uncomfortable, “Especially since there’s an angel here.”

Jenna paused, “W-what do you mean?”

Gerard looked at her, “You’re very special. Any angel is special. Witches loves angel wings for their potions, un-masked demons love killing angels for sport. Voodoo is no problem, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t shapeshifters around.”

“Is there anything that doesn’t lurk in these woods?” Jenna asked.

Davy looked at her, “Don’t worry. We’re not going to let anything happen to you.” He sighed as he looked over to the sun slowly hiding behind the hills, “We should start a fire.”

Lindsey grinned, “And eat before dark.”

Gerard said, “Eat animals. It’s not as nutritious as humans but we can’t go all the way back to Summit for a quick meal.” Gerard looked over to Davy who was sitting down with Jenna. Gerard frowned, “Davy, you’re not going to eat?”

Davy shook his head, “I’m fine.”

Lindsey and Gerard glanced at each other. Gerard walked over to Davy, “You’re getting paler-”

I’m fine.” Davy repeated.

Jenna looked at the two. She touched Davy’s hand, “Are you sure?”

No, he wasn’t. His stomach was twisting, he can barely stay on his feet. He was always thirsty and his palms were always sweating. His skin was losing color. He moved his hand away, “I’m fine.” He said more softly. Gerard was getting annoyed, “Davy, you’re an idiot.”

Davy did not speak. He knew he was .. but he couldn’t hurt Jenna anymore.

After Lindsey and Gerard ate, they sat around the campfire Davy made. They were all quiet. They could hear the occasional howls of wolves from a distance. Gerard stared into the fire. He was thinking, “How did my life turn so quickly? All I did was own a soul and now .. I’m chasing after them, deeply in love.

There was a lot of thinking going on but none like Brendon who was staring at the scene of a woman being raped and stabbed. He sighed a bit, “I haven’t smelled demon blood on the earth’s soil .. Frank is up to something, but it isn’t killing any of them.” He looked at Haley whose bright blue eyes stared back, “As much as I hate being alone, I need you to quicken things up. Kill someone, I’m growing bored.”

Haley muttered, “Which one?”

“Whichever.” He paused, “Aim for the angel. It seems that if she dies, Davy will get enrage and well, lose control.”

Haley frowned, “The angel has done nothing to threaten you-”

“I wasn’t aware that you able to talk back,” Brendon chuckled, staring into Haley’s eyes. He dug his hand through her hair, “If you disobey me and I do not get what I want .. there will be consequences. Believe me, I won’t be down here for long as long Frank continues on his path. Do you understand?”

Haley bit her lower lip, “Yes, of course, master.” Her body faded into a white smoke, escaping underneath the cracks of the door.

Brendon tapped his finger against his lip, gazing at the helpless woman reach her hand out for him as tears streamed down her face. Her body was being ripped apart by knives which pierced into her eyes and chest.
