From the earth to the morgue

What did you do to Chris, Gerard?

I went out for another kill last night. I know it's risky with this new detective sniffing around, but I couldn't resist. It was a man. Late 40's. Poor bastard was shitfaced laying on the ground outside of some shitty bar, so I just took him. He didn't resist much. Just a bunch of slurred questions. I eventually just taped his fucking mouth shut.
And him being the talker he is the second I took off the tape he began asking more and more questions, so I just kept his mouth taped while I did it. I usually let them explain their story. I mean. It's interesting. I like to know what I'm taking them from, but this guy. I could tell he had nothing left. And I honestly didn't care.
There was no missing person report the next day. If he did have any family they must've been used to him being out for days at a time.
I haven't spoken to Frank about the 'kidnappings' since the other day.
I don't know if I can.
He's so against it, but I'm more than sure when he finds out its me he'll learn to accept it.
Maybe even learn to love it.

I've been awake for hours. I don't even think I went to bed last night. I'm not sure. Everything after the murder is mostly a blur. It usually is. Frank staggered down the stairs around 10am.

"Why didn't you come to bed?" Frank mumbled out, rubbing his eyes roughly.

"I couldn't sleep. I'm sorry."

Frank sighed climbing onto the couch with me. I gently wrapped my arm around his small frame, pulling him closer to me. I moved a strain of hair out of his face as he watched the t.v. closely. I peeled my attention off of him to glance up at the screen. It was another speech from detective Toro promising to find this 'maniac'.
Whatever.
I grabbed the remote quickly changing the channel. It landed on some prank show Frank actually seemed to enjoy, considering how quickly be perked up once it came on. For the next five minutes Frank just howled with laughter. I haven't really been paying much attention to the show. I've just been watching him. Studying each feature. Just like it was my first time. Or my last.

I was soon snatched out of my trance by a loud pounding against the door. Frank quickly jumped up, startled. No one ever visits us. I gave Frankie a look telling him to stay there as I got up, cautiously looking out of the peephole. I couldn't really see the persons face, but his wild hair gave him away.
Detective Toro.

I slowly opened the door, "How can I help you?"

Toro looked me up and down before pulling out his badge, "Hello Gerard. I'm detective Ray Toro and I just need to ask you a few questions."

Without hesitation I swung the door open, allowing Toro inside, "Alright that's fine. Come on in."

I confidently strolled back over to the couch, knowing if I show any sign of fear they'll suspect something.
I smiled down at Frankie, "Sweetie, do you want to go upstairs while I talk to detective Toro?"

Frank looked up at Toro with narrowed eyes, "Why is he here, Gee? You didn't do anything wrong."

"I know darling. It's probably about the disappearances. I've heard they've been going to nearly everyone in town. It's nothing to worry about, dear." I stated confidently.

Frank sighed, peeling himself off if the couch, making his way up the stairs. I sighed softly, sitting on the edge of the couch, signaling towards the chair next to me, for Detective Toro to sit in.

Toro nodded a thank you as he sat down with a grunt, "Okay, let's get this started."

I watched his every movements closely. My eyes met his once more, I instantly smiled.

Toro cleared his throat slightly, "Okay Gerard, there is a reason I'm here." My stomach clenched. "We have witnesses saying you were the last person seen with two of the recent victims," shit. Toro pulled out two pictures from a small, yellow folder he was holding, "You were the last person seen with Macie Ells," he placed a small photo of Macie in front of me, "And Chris Duggard." He then placed a photo of Chris in front of me.
The second I saw Chris's photo my face constructed into an expression of disgust.

"Not a big fan of Chris?" Toro questioned after noticing my clear rancid reaction.

I sighed, shaking my head, "No. I hate the guy. First and last time I ever saw him he was hurting my boyfriend."

Toro nodded slightly, "Did you want to hurt him after he hurt, - " he waved his hand around, a sign saying he didn't know Frank's name.

"Frank."

"Right. Did it make you angry? Angry enough to hurt him?"

"Of course I was fucking angry. Frankie is my everything. I never let anyone hurt him, but I didn't touch Chris once." I let out a heavy breath, "I mean, we almost got in a fight at the mall, but that's as far as it went. Frank pulled me away before I could even touch the guy. I haven't seen him since that day."

"That was also the day Chris went missing Gerard." Toro sighed out.

I snapped my head up with confused eyes, "I had nothing to do with it. I swear! You can ask Frank I was here the rest of the night after it all happened!"

Toro nodded, "I believe you."

I let out a small sigh of relief.

"But what about Macie?"

I took in a sharp breath, "We went on a 'date'" I used air quotations, "Or at least that's what she kept calling it. I'm not a cheater. I especially wouldn't cheat on Frankie and I'm more than sure you can tell. We just went out for coffee. No intentions. I just wanted free coffee. She seemed interested in me, so hell yeah I took advantage of it. Worst mistake of my life. She was extremely annoying. She kept trying to get me to sleep with her. I ended up just leaving without any goodbye or anything. I couldn't stand it anymore, but I haven't seen her since. I assumed she went back home."

Toro sighed heavily, "Well she didn't make it back home. And you were the only lead we had." Ray rubbed his eyes harshly. He seemed exhausted. "I'm sorry for wasting your time Mr. Way. Thank you for being completely honest with me, but I must be going on my way now." Toro stated as he headed for the door.

As he opened the door I stopped him, "Detective Toro?"

He stopped in his tracks and turned towards me, "Yes?"

"Do you think those people are dead?"

Toro let out a heavy sigh, "I don't know, but I sure can pray they aren't. Thank you for your time, Mr. Way." And with that Detective Toro closed the door behind him.

I turned away from the door smirking. That should throw them off my trail for at least a little bit. I then heard a small voice speak up from the bottom of the stairs.

"Gerard? What did you do to Chris?"
