Thantophobia

Le coeur veut ce qu'il veut

The day passed slowly, both Frank and Gerard thinking about each other, excited to see one another when the school day ended. Frank was sitting his final period, his eyes nowhere near focused on what the teacher was doing at the front of the classroom, he was infactuated with staring at the clock so he could count down the minutes until he could see Gerard.

"Hey Frank." Someone whispered behind him. Reluctantly, Frank pulled his gaze from the clock that was ticking menacingly on the wall and turned his head slightly back.

Frank let out a huff, "Oh, hi Lindsey." He whispered and shifted in his chair slightly so he could communicate with her better. By now, the teacher was done talking and had assigned some kind of work that nor Frank or Lindsey were interested in completing.

"So," Lindsey began, leaning forward on her desk, her elbows propped up with her chin in one of her palms, "Bob told me what he told you."

"You need to be more specific than that, he tells me a lot of things." Frank replied although he knew what Lindsey was talking about.

Lindsey sighed, "Listen, there are just somethings you can't talk to Gerard about. Especially all of his old...issues. I mean, I'm his best friend and he won't even talk to me about it anymore."

Frank chewed on his silver lip ring, "Well, I just think I deserve to know, since I'm ya know, his boyfriend and everything."

Lindsey was fuming now, "How fucking thick is your skull? I'll say this as many times as I need to, it makes Gerard uncomfortable and you should just leave the whole situation alone."

"Can you tell me what happened? I just...I'm worried." Frank's tone was little softer, Lindsey stared blankly at him as his tattooed fingers played with the hem on the bottom of his Misfits jacket.

"Really, the only thing I can tell you is that he was extremely suicidal for a few reasons and he had self image problems, and of course that lead to drinking and occasionally drugs. He wasn't healthy, Frank."

"But," Frank said carefully, "He's better now, right?"

"Honestly, I hope so. You can never tell whats going on with them, they're very secretive."

"Them?" Frank questioned.

Lindsey jumped a little, "Fuck, sorry. It's become a habit."

"How has using a plural pronoun become a habit?" Frank asked, not buying Lindsey's lie at all.

"It just...I..." Lindsey struggled to find her words as she tapped her fingers nervously on her desk. By now the student next to Frank had been staring at them, almost eavesdropping on their conversation.

"Lindsey," Frank said sternly, "I'm kinda waiting for an answer if you don't mind."

"Jesus fucking christ Frank!" Linsdey shot back a little louder than she needed to, several students raising their heads to see what she was fussing about. She shot a few them a glare, causing them to turn away and mind their own buisness. "Okay, I'm not supposed to tell you, and you can NOT tell Gee I told you, do you understand me?"

Frank nodded.

"Gerard is going through a gender idenity crisis." Lindsey answered softly, "And...I know he should be the one to tell you and everything but if he gets too attached and then tells you and you freak out and you leave and the what if, oh god , what if he gets back into drugs-"

"Lindsey." Frank intterrupted and grabbed her wrist softly, "Calm down. It's okay."

"Oh thank god-" Lindsey began to say, but she was cut off by the final bell of the day ringing. Frank gave her a soft smile, letting her know everything was just fine and she didn't have anything to freak out over. They both packed up their things, Lindsey stopping several times to fix her mini skirt.

Frank gave her one last smile befored rushing out of the classroom and throwing his messenger bag over his shoulder, heading toward Gerards final period, which was art.
Frank took his time, carefully stepping around people as he made his way toward the classroom, a smile spread tightly across his face. He wasn't freaked out of anything by Gerards gender identity, Frank was completley used to people using different pronouns, and in some way he was proud of Gerard for at least telling Lindsey about it.

Soon, Frank reached the class, instantly seeing Gerard standing outisde of the classroom door, staring down at his binder in which he was reading something.

"Hey Gee." Frank said softly, causing Gerard to look up slowly.

As soon as Gerard realized it was Frank, his face split into a grin and he shut his binder. "Hi Frankie."

"You ready to home my love?" Frank asked softly, reaching for his lovely boyfriends hand and linking their fingers. Gerard nodded gently, a blush coming over his face.
"So, what did you need to ask me?" Gerard asked and they strolled through the schools front doors, getting a few stares.

"It's important." Frank sighed and looked over at Gee, staring into his honey colored eyes. He dropped Gee's hand and slowly wrapped his arm around his waist. Gerard smiled and let his head fall softly onto Frank's shoulder as they continued to walk, Franks grip on Gerards hip never loosening.
