Chapter 4

Frank pov

I'm awoken by the lights being turned on suddenly in my room. Groggily, I open my eyes and sit up, wondering why the lights have turned on all of a sudden. I take the covers off and stretch, before looking around for the light switch. When I finally spot it, I get up and walk towards it, planning to switch it back off so I can resume my sleep. When I finally reach for it, I switch it off and the light still stays on.

"What the-" I mumble to myself, confused.

"Why isn't it..?"

I continue to flick the switch up and down, testing to see why it isn't working. I seriously doubt that this was an electrical issue, considering how high tech this whole entire lab is. It's got hundreds of different machines, and im guessing that they don't go 'out of order' a lot since half of these people here look like they have an extremely high IQ.

Why the fuck would this be happening then? I know it's not a big deal, but because this is happened, then who knows what else could happen. I could wake up, and be locked inside a whole new room, a much smaller one at that. I could have tubes hooked up to every inch of my body, taking the blood out of me every second, draining me until im left, dead. Or I could just never wake up.

Not waking up would be the worst possible situation. I could fall asleep tonight, planning to wake up within the next few hours, and that just never happens. I never get to see the light of the next day. I never even really got to say a proper goodbye to my mom, it ended with us fighting. I was crying because I didn't want to leave her and all she said was 'it's for the best'. It crushed my heart that my mom would even say that. Does she not even care? Is she happy that she only has to feed herself, only has to spend her hard earned money on herself? I decide not to think of that right now, and just focus on the given situation.
Suddenly the lock on my door begins to make a noise and it looks as if someone is opening my door. I freeze, wondering who the hell that could be. There's a small hole in my door that opens and im met with the eyes of someone who I recognize.

"Dr. Way..?" I ask, and he just continues to stare at me.

"Don't investigate." Is all he says, and I give him a confused look.

"Don't investigate." He repeats, and I just become more confused.

"What is that supposed to mean!" I shout, throwing my hands up in the air.

"Listen," He starts, bringing his voice down to a whisper. "I don't want you looking around here ok?" He snaps.

"Why are you telling me this? Is this supposed to help me, or are you just being an ass." I snap back, and he gives me an amused look.

"It's not either really," He says, still laughing. "It's not going to help you nor make this situation worse."

"Why are you even talking to me? You're just supposed to be my doctor."

"You may thank me later." He says, winking and then walks away, shutting the hole in the door.
"He can't tell me what to do." I say, like a child who just got told off.

I walk back over to the switch, even more determined to figure out the problem behind this now. Ill have to somehow unscrew the the cover on the switch, and look behind to see if the electrical wires are even connected.

"How am I going to unscrew this.." I whisper to my self, looking for anything around the room.

My eyes land on the lamp and I immediately walk over to it.

"If I just break this and use a shard I think I can use that." I whisper to myself again.

I pick up the lamp and smash it against the floor. Shards of glass fly everywhere and I can feel one put a gash on the side of my leg. I try not to scream out in agony, and look down at my wound, touching it lightly with the tips of my fingers. I reach for the edge of the piece of glass and pull it out of my leg. Blood dribbles down my leg and I wipe it with the side of my arm before walking over to the light switch again.
I fit the edge of it in and twist it, loosening up the first screw. I do the same to the other three, then take off the cover. I'm met with a mess of electrical cords all put together. They're all cut and none of them are connected to anything.

"Hm." I say to myself.

"That's interesting," I say, sarcasm dripping from my words. "None of them are connected."

I pull out all of the wires and they're not even connected to anything in the wall.

"I told you not to investigate." Says a voice from behind me.

I turn around and see Dr. Way staring down at me.

"I-I was just.." I stutter.

"I gave you your warning, and you didn't listen." He says in a monotone voice.

"I'm really sorry sir, I just wanted to know what's going on-"

"Fine, you get one more warning. If you actually listen, I might tell you what's going on, but don't get excited because if you don't listen I'll make sure they take some extra blood next test." He says, an evil look in his eyes.

"O-Ok." I respond and with that, he's left the room and im in here wondering what exactly I did to make him hate me so much. Let's just say that it's not ideal to have a doctor that hates you.
