Chapter 3

Frank pov

"Mr. Iero." The nurse said in a monotone voice, as she stood in the doorway, looking at her clipboard. I get up and walks towards her, dragging my feet along the way. My first appointment, and there's truly no going back now. After this one appointment is when it really starts. Maybe I should just back out now, push past the nurse and run through the doorway. I could leave this all behind, leave it right now, but I know I can't. It's impossible to leave with all of the high tech security systems and the guards lining the halls like a prison. It's impossible, there's no chance, but the thought of it makes me have a small glimpse of hope.

"Are you ready?" She asks impatiently, tapping her foot in an annoyed way.

"Yeah, sorry." I mumble and begin to follow her down the long hallway.

The floors are white and checkered and the walls have a blue tint to them, with doors down the walls, for as far as I can see. There's also two windows on each side of the doors for each room. The windows have curtains inside of it, so they at least give the patients some privacy, like my room. This only makes me wonder more about the other patients, do they have the same problem as me or is there's completely different? Are there even any other patients?

My face turns a shade of red when I realize I kept walking when the nurse had stopped at the door.
"Um, Mr. Iero?" She says, clearing her throat to get my attention. I turn around and slowly walk back towards her, stopping at the double doors that must lead to the 'lab'.

She opens the doors and im met with a fairly large room that has an exam table sitting in the middle of it. There's all kinds of equipment surrounding it, and I can't identify half of it. There's also counters with syringes and bottles of pills on it. The syringes sends shivers down my spine, who knows to what they'll inject me with? Half of those could be used to take my blood. I guess I never realized until now that I could potentially DIE from this. They could take so much of my blood that it could KILL me. In a matter of a few months I could be buried six feet under, in my black and red coffin, flowers clutched in my cold, dead hands.

"We will begin the testing in a few minutes if you could lay down on the exam table for me please." The nurse says, gesturing to then exam table. I walk over to the table and lay down, my breathing becoming hitched. I can feel my chest fall up and down quickly, and I gulp.

I hear the click of the door, and through blurred vision I see light from the now open door. I see a tall figure standing in the doorway and try to focus my vision. It's a man who looks pretty young, about 22. He's got long greasy black hair that's about shoulder length. He also has hazel eyes that have no shine, they're very dull. And he's got pale skin that looks almost sickly.

"I'm Dr. Way." He says in a surprisingly high and nasally voice. I did not expect that for him. He has almost a creepy look to him, like if you saw him on the streets, you would definitely steer away from him. He just has a weird look in his eyes, like he's plotting to kill you right at that moment, but at the same time he looks vulnerable.

"You must be Mr. Iero." He says, and starts putting on gloves.

"Yep, that's my name." I say, annoyed that almost everyone I've seen today has said that to me. He just ignores my sarcasm and carries on with putting on his gloves.

"We're going to start shortly, after I ask some questions."

I nod and he begins to speak again.

"So I understand that you have been called in here because of your rare blood type?"

"Yes."

"Ok well we are going to be taking blood samples frequently, so we can test on it and see if it is considered dangerous, or just..different. We will also be much more careful with blood samples from now on around the U.S just to see if there's anyone else who may have the same blood type as you."

"Ok." I say, and wait for him to speak again.

"So, when was your first blood test taken?"

"Well, actually this was my first visit to the doctors, so I've never had a blood test before." I say and he looks, astonished.

"Really? Well anyway, is there any reason you haven't been to the doctors before? Were you abused as a child?"

"Well, my mom wasn't really there because she had to work so much so she just never got the chance. And no! I was not abused!" I yell, getting angry that he would even think that.
"Ok, I did not mean that as an insult, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't yell," He says, giving me a glare. "Anyway, I'm going to take some of your blood, so you will be given this medicine so you will be pretty dizzy for a while. It may take a while before you're back to normal again, but you'll eventually get used to it since you'll be taking it almost every day."

He turns around and grabs a syringe, filled with a yellowish substance.

"This is the medicine I will give you. You won't feel anything when I'm taking the blood once the medicine starts working."

He takes the needle and pushes it through the skin. I feel the cold piece of metal, injecting the fluid into my veins and when he pulls it back out, my vision becomes blurry. Everything seems to be moving in slow motion, and I feel as if the world is spinning. After a few minutes of dizziness, my vision blacks completely.

I wake up to the feeling of soreness. My whole body aches.

"Frank?" I hear a voice say. I open my eyes and see that it's Dr. Way. He's holding a bag filled with a thick red substance. I begin to feel sick when I realize what that substance is. I gulp and the blood drains from my face, leaving it a ghostly white.

"So we successfully got your blood sample. You may want to rest for a little bit longer because we took a fair amount of it." I nod, and lay my head back down.

After laying down for a while, I can finally stand.

"Do you think you can make it back to the room?" Dr. Way asks.

"Yeah I think I got it."

"I'm going to have Nurse Lee go with you anyways, just in case." He says, and shortly after a black haired nurse comes in and escorts me back to the room.

When I lay my head down on the pillow of my bed, I can't stop thinking about Dr. Way and his murderish look. He's up to something, and a feeling in my gut tells me it's not good.
