Lights flashed, followed by the squealing of tires on the wet road and his sister screaming loudly…
Gerard sat up in bed with a start only to realize that he was drenched in his own sweat. Not knowing what happened to his sister after the accident was torturing him. However, the fact that he hasn’t seen her on Una yet should probably be a slight consolation, because that meant that she survived. He quietly got up and headed into the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee. There was no way he was going to get back to sleep after that nightmare. It was completely silent in the small kitchen as he sat at the table just letting his thoughts run wild.
Life on Una hasn’t been bad. He’s fitting in quite nicely and has already made a hand full of friends. First of all there were Rae and Frank and then there were Ray and Bob. He also got along really well with Ray’s girlfriend, Tatiana, a beautiful raven haired girl. In the past couple of weeks he’s also met Gabby, a kid who was living with Bob. Apparently he had found her and taught her about life on Una. Gabby was a pretty fifteen year old girl with an average, curvy build, dark red hair and brown eyes. He did however realize that he’d seen Gabby before – at the parade that night the moon was out. She was the little dancer twirling through the crowd. He hasn’t seen Alex or Erin since that night though, the main reason probably being that Frank was avoiding them like the plague.
“Are you okay?” a voice suddenly asked behind him, making him jump.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” Nana apologized.
“Nana, why aren’t you in bed?” Gerard asked quietly. “It’s not even four in the morning yet.”
She sighed, “Some poor soul just entered into our world.”
“Now? But…”
Nana nodded, “Not everyone who comes here actually makes it.”
He frowned deeply, because he never thought of it that way. It was scary to think that if he had showed up in the middle of the night, he might not have been sitting here right now.
“So what has you up this time of night?” it was Nana’s turn to ask.
He considered lying, but then he remembered what Frank told him. He should trust Nana to help him.
“I had a bad dream,” he admitted. “I sort of relived the car accident.”
“Ah,” Nana nodded in understanding. “It’s normal. You’re just starting to remember.”
“I am?” he asked. “So I’ll start to remember my friends and family?”
“Pretty soon, yes,” she smiled. “But you’ll be okay.”
He nodded, feeling slightly nervous. What if he also lost his way and became a Rebellion or something.
“You should try to get back to sleep,” Nana told him. “That’s exactly what I’m going to do now. Goodnight, Gerard.”
She left the kitchen as quietly as she came, leaving Gerard all alone with his thoughts again. He couldn’t help wondering what else there was still left to know. There was already so much he had learned about this new life and yet it still seemed like he knew nothing. When the arms of the kitchen clock started heading for five, he decided to take Nana’s advice and try to go back to sleep again.

Chelle has been in school for almost two weeks now and was fitting in pretty well. Tatiana has been telling her everything about Una and teaching her the rules. It all amazed her to an extreme extent. She already loved Ray and Tatiana. In her opinion, they were the perfect couple. They both talked a lot and did random things. It was easy to get comfortable around them, because nothing you did or said could shock them.
School was pretty good too. The hazel eyed boy from Nana’s house, Frank, was extremely helpful, showing her around school and introducing her to everyone. She was really starting to take a liking to him.
“Chelle, right?” a tall girl with short blonde hair with red streaks asked and she nodded in response. “I’m Erin,” the girl introduced herself.
“It’s nice to meet you, Erin,” Chelle smiled sincerely.
“So I see you’ve been hanging around with Frank Iero a lot,” Erin noticed.
“Yeah, he’s been a huge help and he’s really nice,” Chelle admitted truthfully.
“Oh, my gosh! You like him, don’t you?” Erin exclaimed.
“What?” Chelle asked, flushing in embarrassment.
“Don’t feel bad about it. He has that effect on everyone. Quite a ladies man that one,” Erin told her, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“What do you mean?” the brunette slightly stuttered.
“Don’t worry about it. I just thought I’d warn you. Be careful of him. That boy would eat your heart for breakfast… Okay, maybe that was a little harsh, but he will break your heart. I know, because I speak from experience,” Erin said. “You know what? You and I should hang out some time. Everyone can always use another friend here.”
“Hello, Erin,” Frank’s voice spoke behind them and both girls turned around to look at him. “Polluting Chelle’s mind?” he asked Erin.
“No, we were just exchanging some facts. Girl stuff, you know?” she replied sweetly.
“Don’t listen to Erin,” Frank said, turning to Chelle. “Everyone around here knows she’s a little crazy.”
“You… You’re a real asshole, you know that, Iero! Breaking girls’ hearts isn’t a sport. Chelle is a nice girl. I’m just trying to protect her from you!” Erin shot back angrily. “And you can kiss my ass!”
With that the blonde turned on her heel and stomped off.
“Been there, did it, done it,” Frank muttered under his breath. “You ready for your next class?” he then asked Chelle with a bright smile.
