Touch Him Again, And I'll Kill You

Seventeen

Gerard’s POV

“So you’re going?” Lindsey asked me from the doorway to my room.
“Yeah, I guess I am.” I said as I slid a black button up on, and began to lazily button it.
“In that case, I’m going with you.” she said with a small smile.
“You don’t have to.” I told her.
“No, I want to. I’ve never been to one of these things, so I feel like I should actually at least go to one.” She shrugged.

Within an hour, Lindsey and I were fully ready for what was to be a horrifically boring night. The school dance.
I honestly didn’t even want to go. I think school dances are the epitome of stupidity. There’s no point to them except the underclassmen think it’s a chance to dress like five dollar whores. Any other night, I wouldn’t mind them willing to sleep with anyone who gives them a second glance, but tonight was important. Tonight, I had a plan.

Frank’s POV
I gave myself a weak smile in the mirror before running my hands through my hair again. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to wear the black waistcoat with the white button up or not. After thirty minutes of not being able to decide, I finally just put it on and buttoned it up.
Great. I look like a sexy teacher.
Tonight needed to go perfect. I needed to have something that makes me happy. Tonight, it’s my turn to forget him. It’s my turn to show him that I don’t need him. But, knowing him, he probably won’t even show up. He thinks anything that has to do with school is absolute bullshit. He only shows up every day because he has nothing else to do.
I walked downstairs to the kitchen and my mother was there waiting for me. “Frankie, you look lovely.” She said with a wide smile. “I feel like a jackass, mom.” I said with a small chuckle. She rolled her eyes at me before handing me her car keys.
“Be safe, and be sure to tell Jamia I said hi.” She said before pecking me on the cheek and walking past me up the stairs.
I gave myself one last look over in the mirror. I wanted to look as nice as possible for tonight, so I was wearing black jeans that didn’t have holes in them, a white button up, and waistcoat, and black vans. I felt confident and that was all that mattered to me.

The drive to Jamia’s house was short and very familiar. When I arrived, I knocked a few times on the dark wooden door. A few moments later, Jamia opened it.
I grinned down at her. She looked absolutely beautiful. Her dress was long and red, and it really made her eyes stand out.
“You look amazing, Jamia.”
Her cheeks turned pink before she let out a small thanks.

Her parents took a few quick pictures of us, before we were finally off to the dance.
The dance was being held in the gym, and I honestly wasn’t expecting anything too great decoration wise, but I was really blown away when I stepped through the doors.
There were white christmas lights dangling throughout the room, some tables with black tablecloths, and red candles. Everything looked magnificent.
We came kind of late due to Jamia’s parents thinking they needed a thousand pictures of us, so there were already quite a few people there. There was loud, and very shitty, music playing, but I mainly didn’t pay any attention, because tonight was to be my night. I was going to finally be happy, and just enjoy myself.
Of course, as soon as I was finally okay with everything there, I spotted Gerard and Lindsey at a table in the corner, and fuck did Gerard look amazing. He wasn’t wearing his usual “teen rebellion” look either. He was actually wearing a suit. An all black suit with a red tie, and his hair was less messier than usual, like he had actually brushed it.
I couldn’t take my eyes off of him, and apparently neither could any of the other girls there, because a lot of them were trying to talk to him. Usually he would be all over them, but he wasn’t even looking at them. He was leaning over his drink, and talking to Lindsey. I could tell by the way he was moving that he wasn’t drunk or high, which was slowly becoming normal for him.
Lindsey’s eyes met mine, and Gerard turned his head in my direction. His eyes landed on me, and he glanced up and down my body, then met my eyes. He gave me a small smile before turning back to Lindsey.
“How are things between you two?” I was pulled out of my daze by Jamia’s voice. I turned to look at her and shrugged. “Neither good nor bad, but I think that’s just how it has to be.”
She narrowed her eyes at me. “I’m not buying that shit, Frank. You love him and it’s fucking killing you, isn’t it?”
I looked away from her and slowly nodded my head. “There’s nothing I can do about it, Jamia. It just is what it is.”

A few hours into the dance, Jamia and I were sitting at a table toward the back of the gym, sipping from cans of soda.
“This dance blows.” She sighed out. I rolled my eyes at her.
“Jamia, maybe if you got off of your ass and danced a little bit, you would have some fun.”
She glared at me. “Dancing is so not my thing. Plus, they only play shitty music.”
I nodded. “Yeah, I have to agree there, this music really does fucking suck.”
As if on cue, the music stopped playing. Everyone on the dancefloor let out choruses of confused noises before returning to their tables. Once the center of the gym was void of teens, the dj stepped up to a microphone that I hadn’t noticed before.
“I hope you’re all enjoying your nights! But, right now, we have someone who wants to say a few things before we continue.” He said, before stepping back into his booth.
A silence fell over the gym as Gerard walked up the small stage, and grabbed the microphone.
“What the absolute fuck is he doing?” Jamia whisper yelled at me.
“I have no clue!” I said, throwing my hands up in confusion.
Music began playing from the speakers as Gerard cleared his throat and began to sing:

Where, where will you stand
When all the lights go out
Across these city streets?

He turned and his eyes met mine. I felt my cheeks heat up and I tried looking anywhere but at him.

Where were you when
All of the embers fell?
I still remember them
Covered in ash
Covered in glass
Covered in all my friends
I still think of the bombs they build

He effortlessly hopped off of the stage and strutted over to me.

If there's a place that I could be
Then I'd be another memory
Can I be the only hope for you?
Because you're the only hope for me
And if we can't find where we belong
We'll have to make it on our own
Face all the pain and take it on
Because the only hope for me is you alone

Everyone in the whole gym was looking at us now but I didn’t care. He was absolutely amazing.

How would you be
Many years after the disasters
That we've seen
What if we learned
Of all the people burning
Purifying flame
I'll say it's okay
I know you can tell
And though you can see me smile
I still think of the guns they sell

If there's a place that I could be
Then I'd be another memory
Can I be the only hope for you?
Because you're the only hope for me
And if we can't find where we belong
We'll have to make it on our own
Face all the pain and take it on
Because the only hope for me is you alone
I felt like my eyes were glued to him. I was melting into every word he was singing, and I never wanted it to end.

The only hope for me
The only hope for me is you
The only hope for me is you
The only hope for me is you
The only hope for me is you
The only hope is!

If there's a place that I could be
Then I'd be another memory
Can I be the only hope for you?
Because you're the only hope for me
And if we can't find where we belong
We'll have to make it on our own
Face all the pain and take it on
Because the only hope for me is you alone
The only hope for me is you alone

Once the last note of the song had ended, he put the microphone down on the table in front of me, then leaned down and passionately pressed his lips against mine.

There was a chorus of gasps from everyone, but it was really no surprise to me. No one else knew that Gerard liked me, or even guys for that matter.

He pulled away and met my eyes again. “Frank, I don’t give a single fuck what your mother says or wants, because I love you, and I want to be with you. So please, can we just give this a chance? I need you and being without you is slowly destroying me.”

I grinned at him. “Of course, Gee. The only hope for me is you.” I suddenly frowned at what a cheesy fuck I was being, but soon recovered when everyone in the gym started applauding.
Gerard returned the microphone, and wouldn’t leave my side for the rest of the night. It felt amazing having him with me, and I didn’t want it any other way. I practically lived for him. I was born to tell him I love him. My soul purpose is to love him, and I knew that now, and I think he did too.

Notes

Don't worry, this isn't the last chapter!! It's not even close to being over, I promise.
Sorry for the long wait, my internet went out, but here's an extra long chapter to make up for that. It's also a super cheesy chapter, so it's even better.
Anyways,
