If you say, goodbye today

6 year old Gerard had developed a bit of a crush on the 5 year old schizophrenic boy, he always watched him, from a distance of course. The small 5 year old never noticed though, he was completely oblivious. After knowing Frankie for 2 years and being stuck in this hospital, his leukemia had only grown worse. The doctors predicted he had about six years left. They didn't tell Gerard that though he thought he was getting better and asked day after day to come home. As for Frankie, he was actually getting better, not that his schizophrenia was gone, just that all of his hallucinations seemed to either not be bothering him as much or he was just ignoring them. Frank and Gerard spent all of their time together and when one of them was separated to go to a check up, the other would be lost without them. The nurses found it adorable that they spent all of their time together.


"Gee?" Frankie asked. "Yeah Frankie?" Gerard replied. "Do you wanna sleep in my bed tonight? It's really cold over here and you'll stop the nightmares." Gerard smiled wide. "Sure Frankie!" He climbed into bed with Frankie and embraced him tightly as the two small boys fell asleep.


The next morning Mrs. Way walked into the hospital room and panicked at first when she didn't see Gee in his bed. Once she saw him in Franks bed, the panicked look on her face was replaced with a smile. She decided that it was probably best if she left them to sleep for now.


"Um Gee?" Frank questioned while fidgeting under Gerard's embrace. "Yeah Frankie?" Gerard said still half asleep. "You're hugging me can you let go I really have go pee." He said. Gerard laughed at the little 5 year old. "Nope you're staying here!" He said jokingly. Frank took that seriously though. "But Gee! I really need to go!" He whined. "Frankie im just kidding." He said as he let go of the stubborn five year old. Frankie jumped off the bed and walked over to the bathroom. Gerard must of fallen back asleep while Frankie was gone because when he came back, jumped on top of the older sleeping boy which made him wake up in a not so pleasant way. "Frankie!" Gerard whined. He rolled on top of the younger boy pinning him to the bed. Gerard placed a small kiss on Frankie's lips. Frankie looked confused. "Why did you do that?" He asked. Gerard's face went red. "I don't know" he said embarrassed. The younger boy just shrugged and then jumped off the bed. Gerard sighed wishing Frankie would feel the same way about him.


Mrs. Way knows about Gerard's little crush. She thinks it's adorable but she doesn't want him to get hurt because of Frankie. Even though it's probably just an innocent little crush, she can't let Gerard get hurt because of it. "Mommy!" Gerard said as he ran up to her. "Hey Gee!" She replied back. "Who is your friend?" She asks. 'This is Frank" he says blushing. "Hi Frank." "Hello Gees mom" he says back. She laughs at the smaller boys cuteness. When Frank finally leaves the room, Gerard won't stop blushing. "Why are you blushing Gee?" She questions already knowing the answer. "Mommy I like Frankie." He says embarrassed. "You do?" "Yeah" He says sounding older than he really is. "Well I think that's adorable." She says smiling.


Frankie had been gone for a while now, and Gerard started to worry. "Where's Frankie?" He asked the blonde nurse. He's getting a check up, his hallucinations have started to come back. "Oh" Gerard said worried about his friend.

Hours later Frankie came back covered in bruises and scratches. "What happened Frankie??" Frank just had a bored look on his face which wasn't normal for the boy who was normally very energetic. "Scar came back." "Who is Scar?" He questioned. "You don't see him?" Frank asked, a bored look still on his face. "He's right there, he's doing this to me." Frank said now scratching himself violently. Gerard ran out of the room to find a nurse. It was kind of hard since he's so short and everyone around him was so tall. Finally he found the blonde nurse, and led her to Frankie. "Thank you for telling me Gerard" she said. She picked Frankie up and brought him into another room where he could take some of his medicine. That night Gerard couldn't sleep as all of his thoughts were occupied on the small boy with hazel eyes.
