Dirty Little Secrets

2: Get The Gang Together- Gerard Way

"'Morning, Gee," Frank says, sitting down next to me. The grass is wet with early morning dew and he grimaces as he sits. "LynZ's behind me."
I nod and look at Frank's hands. His knuckles have Halloween tattooed across them and I cringe. LynZ tried to kill herself on Halloween— why does he have that?
He must notice me looking at his hands, because he spreads his fingers out and offers me his hands. "My birthday's on Halloween," he explains. "And I'm a nerd." He links his hands together and I see that he also has 'bookwørm' tattooed on his fingers.
"That's cool. I'm afraid of needles, so I can't get tattoos or piercings or anything," I say.
"I applied for job at Spades," Frank says. "Once I turn 18, I hope I can get it."
"Oh," I say, not bothering to ask what Spades is. So, his sister tried to kill herself on his birthday. That may be even worse.
Speak of the devil. She sits down next to Frank, pulling the hem of her black sweatshirt lower. She looks horrible— her hair is up in a messy knot on the top of her head, which I can tell is drastically different from how it usually is. She's cuffed the bottom of her black ripped jeans and she has black Vans on.
"'Tis a dark day, gentlemen," she says as a greeting.
"Well, what's the matter with you?" Frank asks. "You weren't like this at home."
"Yes, but home is a safe haven from the disappointment that is the real world," LynZ says.
"Very philosophical," I say and LynZ nods at me.
"Thank you, Gee," she says and turns her head as someone whistles. She has long, dyed-blue hair tied up in a tight ponytail and bright hazel eyes. She has a black crop top shirt on and a black and white flower-printed skirt on, with a pair of low-rise white Converse.
"Good morning, friends!" She says happily and sits down next to LynZ. LynZ leans over, placing her head in her brother's lap. She positions herself so that she can see the gray morning sky and says "Gee, this is Halsey Frangipane, this is Gee."
"Nice to meet you, Gee," Halsey says, then asks "What's your favorite movie?"
"What?" I ask.
"Oh, I'm on the yearbook committee and one of the polls we have to take is the student body's favorite movies," she explains, opening a powder blue notebook and taking a pencil out of the spiral binding.
"Oh, okay. Probably Star Wars," I say. Halsey writes it down and sticks the yellow pencil behind her ear. "Sophomore?" She asks.
It takes me a second to understand what she said. "Oh, no. Freshman," I say and she nods.
"Cool. What's your name? So we can check you off the list," She asks.
"Gerard Way," I say and she gasps dramatically.
"Is your brother Mikey Way?" She asks. I nod, steeling myself for what she's about to say. "You seem nothing like him. You're nice."
"LynZ, are you wearing my sweatshirt?" Frank asks, changing the subject. LynZ glances down at the sweatshirt printed with the Black Flags logo and nods. Frank starts to pull it over her head but she yells out, bolting up.
"No, you don't want to do that!" She says, pulling the sweatshirt back down. For a split second, I can see her stomach and I'm shocked by how tan it is.
"Why not?" Frank asks. LynZ looks around, checking that there's no one else around and she mumbles "I don't have a shirt on."
"What the hell?!" Frank exclaims. "Why not?!"
"'Cause I knew that you'd try to take it back," she says and lays back down, her head going back in Frank's lap.
"You clever fox," Halsey says. I'm still in awe by LynZ words; she doesn't have on a shirt? Mikey's right— LynZ is a freak.
What the hell's the matter with me?! Why am I agreeing with Mikey? I know LynZ's weird— why do I question some of the things that she does?
"Got anything going on tonight?" Frank asks, breaking me out of my trance.
"Not that I know of. Homework, probably," I tell him.
"We're gonna go see the new Jurassic Park movie," LynZ says. "And we were wondering if you wanted to come with."
"Sure," I say. "Why not?"
"Awesome!" Halsey exclaims. "Patrick saw it a few days ago and he said it was amazing."
"We gotta introduce Gee to the rest of the gang," Frank comments.
"We do!" LynZ exclaims. "Let's see, there's Ray, and Pete, Patrick, Andy, and Joe... Oh! And Andy and Ashley and CC, Jinxx, and Jake!" She counts them all off on her fingers.
"That's a lot of people," I say.
"You'll fit in. Trust me," Frank reassures me. "I'll invite them to the movie tonight."
"No, tonight's no good," LynZ says. "Ray and Patrick got NHS and Ash and CC have to help clean up the band room."
"How about Friday night? We can take Gee to Desolation Row," Frank says and a smile crawls into the girls' faces.
"Desolation Row? Like the Bob Dylan song?" I ask.
"Exactly like the Bob Dylan song," Halsey says, a grin still plastered on her face. "Yes, let's do that!"
"Okay, Friday night!" LynZ says and claps her hands together. "We'll come pick you up. You can't drive yet, can you?"
"Not until April, when I get my license," I say. "I have my permit."
"Ah, the tender age of 15," Frank says, leaning back on the heels of his hands. "I remember when I was 15."
"Remember? Frankie, it was 2 years ago," LynZ says.
"In one week, it'll be 3 years ago!" Frank defends himself, shoving LynZ off of his lap.
"Gee, you have to understand this about Frank: he takes Halloween very seriously," LynZ says. "He's been planning his costume since June."
"I am going to be Jack Skellington from A Nightmare Before Christmas," Frank says smugly, crossing his arms over his chest.
"God, how emo are you?" Halsey asks.
"On a scale of 1 to 'Pete in 8th grade', I'd say an 8," Frank says and the three of them laugh.
The school bell rings, signaling for us to go inside. The few other people who're out here as well start to move towards the doors and Hayley and I stand up. "We'll be right there," Frank says as LynZ sits up.
"Alright. See y'all in 6th period!" Halsey says.
"Bye," I say, waving a bit.
"Why does your finger do that?" Frank asks, mimicking my wave. He sticks his pinkie out a bit and I look at my hand, confused. I still do that? "You talk out of the side of your mouth, too."
I shrug, pretending not to know the reason. "I have no idea," I lie. I turn to go inside and quickly escape the grounds.
School is uneventful. The usual rigmarole and whirlwind that high school brings. It's stressful, having to make up a month of school work.
All too soon, Frank's car pulls up in front of my house. I check my t-shirt, which is just a simple black t-shirt under a black leather jacket, paired with dark gray jeans and red high top Converse, and find that it's a bit wrinkled from wearing it at school. It'll have to do, though.
"Bye, Mom!" I call, leaving the house.
"Bye, Gee! Don't stay out too late!" She tells me.
"Okay!" I say as LynZ pokes up from the sunroof of the car.
"C'mon! The movie starts soon!" She calls and I quicken my pace. I climb in the backseat and LynZ crawls back in and sits down in the passenger seat. Halsey's in the backseat too, and she's staring out the window at my house.
"So, this is where Mikey Way lives," she says as Frank drives away. "Hmm. Strange." Her hair is still in the ponytail, but she's changed her outfit to a pair of black jeans, a Metallica muscle tee and black DMs. I look up to the passenger seat to LynZ and find that she's changed outfits too.
Now, she has on a short dress that's a nice soft pink color. She has an large beige cardigan over her shoulders and she's letting it drape off, the only thing holding it up being the crooks of her elbows. She's sitting with her legs crossed and I see white high top Converse. LynZ's hair is in a half ponytail thing where she took the loose hair and braided it in with the ponytail and it looks very good on her.
"Okay, so what's with girls changing clothes all the time?" I ask. LynZ shrugs and turns around in her seat to face me.
"It's fun," she says and smiles. Her hazel eyes sparkle in the darkness as Frank speeds down the street, completely passing the movie theater.
"Umm, Frank? We passed the theater," I point out.
"I know," he says. "Our friend, Andy, works there."
"That doesn't explain why we passed the theater."
"This is always how we see movies," LynZ says, making a small sweeping gesture with her hand.
"What?" I ask. Now I'm confused beyond repair.
"You'll see," Halsey smiles.
Soon enough, we turn onto a dirt road that leads into a slightly wooded area. We drive through the trees, the Smiths quietly playing through the speakers.
Suddenly, the trees clear and I see that we're near the Passaic River, the shoreline a bit off. From the distance, I can see something set up, soft light emanating from the location. Frank shuts off the car and we all leave the car. LynZ escapes through the sunroof and I worry about her mental health for a second.
"Frankie! LynZ! You're on time!" A boy says, approaching the Iero siblings. He has long, dark brown hair and shining blue eyes and he has on an orange Cincinnati Bengals jersey, paired with dark blue jeans and black Converse. "For once in your lives."
"Yeah, we are," Frank says. "Gee, this is Alcohol Dick. Alcohol Dick, this is Gee."
"That's new," the guy says, shaking my hand.
"Sometimes simple is better," Frank says, putting his hands in the pockets of his gray jeans and shrugging.
"My real name's Biersack—" he says, pronouncing the name beer-sack and I exclaim as I understand Frank's nickname. "But Frank's took it upon himself to give me a stupid nickname."
"He's Andy," Halsey says. She kicks a rock into the trees as I ask "Which Andy?"
"Ashley's and CC's and Jinxx's and Jake's friend," Halsey clarifies. "We usually call him Andy B. when Andy Hurley is around. Andy B. and Andy H."
"Oh," I say and the three lead me to a set-up on the shore. There's a few logs lined up in front of a white sheet, strung up on a fishing line. There're garden lights at the end of each log, giving the place a little light. There's also a large projector behind the logs and a loud whirring comes from it. Halsey sits down on the first log and LynZ sits next to her. I sit down on the one opposite them and Frank sits next to me.
Andy goes to the projector and hits a few keys on a laptop set up next to it. Almost instantly, a voice comes out of the projector.
"Shit," it says and Andy exclaims the same word.
"Language," a second voice says and the video cuts off.
"I grabbed Age Of Ultron on my way out!" Andy growls. "Do you guys still wanna watch it or...?"
LynZ looks around at the small group and stands up. She undoes her hair, sticking the hairtie around her wrist, and fluffs her hair out. She slides her shoes off and sets her sweater on the log next to Halsey. "I..." She says and unzips her dress. "Am going for a swim."
"LynZ, what the hell are you doing?" Frank asks, bolting up. Her dress falls to the ground and I cover my eyes with my hand.
"I'm going swimming, dipshit," she says and there's a bit of silence for a second.
"My sister's crazy," Frank says as I hear a splash from the lake

Notes

So, yeah, two chapters in one day. Don't expect this to be a thing... I'm an insomniac, so— when I do post— it'll be late at night. Again, comments are encouraged!
Also, guess who's going to the Oct. 4 Foo Fighters concert?! I've started working on a piece of art to give Dave Grohl if I get the chance to meet him. I'll post pictures on my Tumblr, which I'll link in my account description.
That's all. Sweet dreams! xo
