Please Don't Take This Out On Me
Chapter 47: The Curly Haired Man
I hummed impatiently and drummed my legs against the side of the wooden desk I was sitting on; jittery from nerves. After Bob, Mikey, and Gerard ALL got mad at me and one of the older students found me sobbing behind the stairwell, I was told that my mother was coming to visit.
I was quite excited - having not seen her in what felt like forever and knew I'd hug her so tightly she'd laugh and ruffle my hair like she used to, and tell me 'alright honey let go.' But I wouldn't let go. I wanted her to come and take me out of this horrible place where everyone hates me.
There was a knock on the door and I jumped. "Mom?" My heart started racing and I put a hand over my chest in a pathetic attempt to soothe it.
Slight disappointment coursed through me when a tall man with an extremely curly, brown afro walked in and smiled sadly at me. "Hey, Frank. No she's going to be a little late. Just wanted to let you know."
I sighed and ducked my head down a bit; slightly embarassed to have called this fluffy haired man mom.
I sniffled quietly and forgot he was still in the room as tears started slowly running down my face. I was worried maybe she wouldn't show up, and that she had another child and forgot about me. That would really ruin my day. And my week. And my life.
I jumped and let out a little yelp as I felt a pair of thin arms wrap around my waist, and I opened my mouth to protest but was faced with a mouthful of curly hair. "MHmdmf-" I managed to say before the guy that was hugging me got the message.
He smiled and backed up a bit. "Sorry, lil guy. You looked like you needed a hug." I smiled gratefully at him and nodded. "Yeah I did. Thanks so much, mister."
"Ray." The tall man stuck out his hand and I placed mine in his. "Just Ray. I'm a student like you, no need for formalities" I smiled and shook Ray's hand. "Okay, you probably know I'm Frank."
Ray smiled so widely he would have won a beauty pageant right there, and pulled me in for anoher hug. "It's so nice to meet you, Frank!"
It was nice to meet him, and I would have told him that if I wasn't faced with a mouthful of hair.
