Night Ten

3: 28
Frerard

__

Gerard wanted to suffocate in the warmth and touch of Frank, everything about Frank made him happy but also confused. Gerard didn’t care for thinking about anything else other than his five senses absorbing Frank. He missed Frank so much, he never felt such an urgency to be coiled around Frank.

For a moment, Gerard swore he was a part of Frank, they were inseparable. That Frank would never leave Gerard alone to wallow in his fear muddled mind. Alas, Gerard loved to fool himself as once he opened his eyes to the sunrise blinding his retinas.

He hissed and adjusted himself, he was alone on his bed.

Gerard forced himself to get up and out of the bed, everything in him ached but not as much as his heart did; he was unsure if Frank really did show up in his apartment or if he had hallucinated the whole night.

His chest hurt painfully, but he wandered in the too spacious apartment. Gerard noticed a glint on the floor near the door to enter his apartment, he made himself get closer to the shiny glint.
He stared at the floor for the longest time, lost at the sights of his apartment key that was obviously the key he gave to Frank.

He returned it, he was here; he held him.

Frank was here.

Gerard kneeled down and picked up the key, he bit his bottom lip and held back the tears and heartache that wanted to arise.

He wouldn’t cry over Frank anymore.

Gerard wanted to find Frank, see him at least one more time and not be fighting off a fever as he did.

He spent most of his day visiting the hospital and undergoing tests and procedures until they finally gave him the ‘OK’ to leave.

He lit a smoke, he let out all his anxiety and finally decided to leave his apartment. Gerard wasn’t worried that it was 3 AM, he didn’t care for danger, just welcomed it. At least it gave him something to do, but this time, he had a mission and he needed to complete.

It took him a while, off by memory he followed the streets until a vaguely familiar neighborhood came to his sights. Gerard went up the street and there it was, the small red house at the corner.

It was Frank’s house, he only visited once but he imprinted it into his brain exactly where the man lived. He never had the courage to ever show up, but with his spare apartment key in pocket he drew up the courage to finally show up.

He lit another smoke and each step up to the porch was heavier than the next.
Once at the door, he hesitated, he wasn’t quite sure what to expect.

Hell, he felt more embarrassed that he was about to knock on Frank’s door at 3 in the morning.
Gerard took out the spare key and stared at it, he needed to do this.

He knocked and checked his watch briefly, it takes a moment as his eyes dart from the time of exactly 3: 28 AM, to the door swinging back and the light behind it blinded Gerard for a moment, much like his morning earlier.

It was Frank, his hair was much longer now; his face was much chubbier, but it was him.
Gerard couldn’t form words.

He outstretched his hand and opened his palm, the apartment key on the center of his palm.
Gerard managed to get out three words, “You forgot something.”

Gerard expected Frank to slam the door shut or slap the key out of his hand, instead, he was met with a soul-stealing smile.

Gerard was wordless. Frank was happy to see him.
