I spat blood at his face, the blood hitting its mark, as he gives me a look of disgust and bared his fangs ready to strike. I close my eyes and wait for sweet, innocent death to relieve me of my pain.

Suddenly, however, I hear a wretched scream as ashes fall upon my face. I open my eyes to find Gerard clutching his stomach as blood continues to pour out of the wound, his dark hair matted with dirt and sweat, and a wooden stake in hand.
“Gerard!” I gasp as he smiles and winks at me before his eyes roll into the back of his head and he falls unto the ground once more.
“You foolish girl, your beloved won’t be able to stop me from killing you, don’t worry I’ll make it as painful as possible.” Morgana snickered as I quickly search for my wooden stake but to no avail as she nears closer, I remember the blade in my leather boot. It won’t kill her but it sure as hell will make her bleed. I gather what remains of my strength as I stand up to face Morgana head on. She lunges at me while hissing, fangs out and ready to pierce my neck as I raise my arm to deflect her attack, but her long, painted red fingernails grazed my arm. The pain coursing through my veins as blood falls and I grit my teeth knowing that I must continue and slay the malevolent queen. Morgana continues to laugh, a demented laugh at my feeble attempts to carry on through my suffering. But alas my own body betrays me as I fall to the ground in a heap of blood, sweat, and dirt. Morgana now stands over me, her blue eyes glimmer in the candlelight. “You fought a good fight, but now my dear, your fight is over.” She says as she bends down, fangs ready to puncture my neck. Today is not going to be the day that I die.
“Not quite.” I whisper as I impale her with my blade in her stomach. She cries out while standing up and stumbling backwards. I gather my new found strength and leap up off the ground as I spy my wooden stake near where Morgana now stands.
“Well don’t just stand there, kill her!” Morgana commands her fellow demons who, before now, have been on the balcony watching the events unfold. She rips the knife out of her stomach and throws it on the ground as vampires leap off the balcony from all directions and I hear the dreadful hissing of now exactly 876 damned souls once again. I race to fetch my stake as I slide towards it. What follows unfolds in slow motion, as I grasp my wooden stake, relishing the feel of it against my calloused palm. Morgana lunges at me once again but I dodge her weak attempt as I push her against the wall of a thousand black coffins with my hand wrapped firmly around her ivory throat. Her head slams against one of the coffins as I continue to tighten my grasp and I raise my stake above my head ready to strike her sinful heart.
“Any last words?” I inquire and look into her blue eyes, seeing something unexpected, fear.
“I’ve faced death a hundred times, tonight it has finally come and I embrace it.” Morgana spoke as she closed her eyes one final time.
“Farewell, Morgana.” I whispered as I plunged my stake into her heart. The sound of a thousand agonizing screams filled the air as Morgana and her clan erupted into ashes. The ashes fell from the air unto the ground making it looked like it had just snowed a sorrowful snow.
