Never Leave My Side.

Getting to Know One Another

*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*

Frank's alarm clock blared loudly and echoed throughout his room. Frank groaned, but turning his head toward his clock, he remembered that it was Saturday. Grinning, Frank curled up inside his warm blankets and drifted back off to sleep.

Frank finally awoke, feeling quite rested. When he got up, he decided to get something to eat. Frank rushed downstairs, trying to avoid his parents. Frank made himself a bowl of cereal and ran upstairs. He sat on his bed to eat his breakfast. When Frank had finally settled in, he turned his head to look out the window into the early morning sky. When he had finished his breakfast, Frank set his dish aside on his nightstand to put away later. He didn't want to risk running into his parents, so he decided to wait in his room until they had both left for work to leave his room, if even for a second.

Finally, Frank heard the slamming of the front door. He then ran downstairs to put his dish in the sink. When down there, however, Frank decided to lounge around for a bit. After all, he never really left his room. After only a few minutes, Frank decided to run back upstairs to his room. He spent most of his time in his room and usually didn't come down unless he needed to. Frank also liked to avoid his parents as much as possible.

Frank spent the majority of the day in his room. It was eventually five forty. Frank got up and got ready to go to the movies with Gerard. He spent the whole day in his pajamas, and when he realized this, Frank felt a little disappointed in himself. Frank got dressed and slipped on his shoes. He then looked in the mirror. He didn't really like what he saw. Frank saw himself as the most unattractive guy in the world. He fixed his hair and attempted to look nice. When Frank felt he was ready, he ran out the front door. His parents didn't know about his plans or where he was going, but then again, they wouldn't care. They never cared about what he did or where he went.

As Frank glanced down at the piece of paper in which he had written Gerard's address, he realized that he didn't live too far from Frank's house, so it would be safe to walk.

Frank eventually came to a stop at Gerard's address. He felt nervous as he walked up to the front door. Gathering every ounce of courage he had, Frank knocked on the door. After a few moments, the door slowly swung open, revealing Gerard's face. He wore a serious expression, but when he realized that it was Frank at the door, his expression faded into a smile.

"Hey!" Gerard greeted Frank enthusiastically.
"Um... hi," Frank replied quietly.
"You can come in if you would like," said Gerard. "Unless entering a complete stranger's house makes you feel uncomfortable."
"Well, yeah." Frank let out a small laugh at the hint of humor had used in that last part. "I trust you, but shouldn't we get going?"
"Oh, yeah. Of course," Gerard replied. He then turned his head to face the inside of the house. Gerard shouted, "Mikey, Ray, Bob! That Frank kid I've been telling you about is here! You ready?"

Suddenly, from inside the house Frank could hear the stomping of multiple feet coming toward the front door. A kid with brown hair clearly dyed blonde appeared first, standing next to Gerard. He wore a poker face. His hair was short in the back and longer in the front. As Frank studied him, he realized that he had quite a defined jaw line. Next, a dude with an enormous fro big enough to house Frank's entire family walked over and stood directly behind Gerard. Lastly, a guy with a sort of strawberry blonde hair came and stood behind all of them. The kid with the incredible jaw line stepped forward and looked Frank up and down.

"So this is the kid you were talking about? He's rather short, don't you think?"
"Mikey, don't be rude," Gerard said softly.
"Sorry, kid," the boy said to Frank. "What's up, I'm Mikey."
"Hi," Frank quietly replied.
The guy with the gigantic fro approached Frank. "Hey, I'm Ray."
"Hello," Frank said timidly.
The guy in the back stood quiet, as if not noticing Frank was there.
"Bob, aren't you going to introduce yourself," Gerard asked.
"Oh, hey dude, you can call me Bob," the boy greeted Frank.
"Nice to meet you," said Frank shyly.
"Well, we'd better get going," Gerard finally said, and with that he headed toward the red car parked directly in front of the house.
The other boys followed quickly behind. Frank was the last to leave. Being unsure of what exactly he was doing, Frank slowly walked toward the car.

"You can sit here," Gerard said to Frank as he placed his hand on the passenger's seat.

Frank smiled at Gerard as he sat down. Gerard smiled back. Gerard put his key into the ignition and off they went toward the theater. The boys in the back had begun to chatter loudly, while Frank and Gerard sat quietly up front. They eventually came to a stop at the small theater in the center of town. The boys fell silent, and without another word, everyone climbed out of the car and headed inside. Once inside, Gerard continued to pay for everyone's tickets, popcorn, and drinks. Frank felt guilty and so he offered to pay for himself.

"It's okay, I've got the money," Gerard reassured.

Frank began to protest but then dropped the matter and accepted Gerard's act of kindness. Once the boys had received their tickets they headed inside the theater where an action film would be playing. Once inside, everybody selected their seats. They sat near the back of the theater. When Frank had finally selected his seat, Gerard came and sat right next to him, smiling sweetly. The lights dimmed and the movie had begun to play. The other boys had quickly devoured their share of popcorn, while Gerard had slowly ate his popcorn, being acceptably polite. Frank didn't have that much popcorn, but that was okay because he wasn't too hungry. Frank stared admiringly at Gerard. He couldn't believe that someone as amazing as him would ever accept Frank as a friend. Then, a strange thing happened. Frank had started to feel attracted to Gerard. Frank shook his head and discarded that thought, while he turned his head and proceeded to enjoy the rest of the movie.
