Kiss Slowly, Speak Quickly
Gerard's POV
Frank took the girl to the nurse's office and left Mikey and I standing sort of awkwardly with the other two. One was taller but not by much, maybe right around Frank's height. She had dark blue hair and eyes that glimmered when offered a certain sort of natural lighting. Her lips pulled up slightly in a challenging smirk.
"What are you looking at?" she asked suddenly. I pulled my cap back on and over my eyes as I turned my nose up slightly so that I could see the other. This girl...
She was small, skinny in a healthy-looking way. Her hair was red as fire and her complexion was pale as death himself. Her eyes sparkled dimly as if she wanted to be happy, but she was fighting to keep it that way. When she caught me staring, she pulled her jacket closer around her. The jacket itself was already two or three sizes too big.
"Staring's rude," the blue-haired said. I jumped at the harshness in her voice.
"Sorry," I whispered. "I just think you're really beautiful," I said quietly again as I looked at the other girl. She blushed.
"Take a seat then," blue-hair said. "I'm Maria. This is Clarissa."
"Who's the other?" I asked just as quietly, feeling slightly intimidated as Mikey and I sat slowly.
"Dawn," Clarissa answered quietly, glancing sideways at me. Her look sent a chill down my spine. Gerard, not again. Don't do this to yourself again. Look at who you are now. No more girls. You know the promise you made.
"I'm Gerard," I said finally, snapping out of my crush-induced daze. "And this is Mikey, my little brother. That was-"
"Frank," Maria cut me off with the end of my own sentence. "Dawn told us."
I felt my fist ball up in my pocket. "She told you about what happened?"
Maria looked at me with almost protective eyes. "No. She told us his name was Frank. That's it. Anything else we know we can piece together. We're not stupid."
"Piece together?" Mikey asked.
"She told us that his name is Frank. She came over with a cut palm and said she cut it on the metal back of the bench. But he freaks out and he ran over here. He wasn't careful. His sleeve slipped up." Maria explained as she kept her eyes and a soft, almost tempted smile trained on Mikey.
"Then you know?"
Clarissa shrugged. "We're all guilty of it," she said with a light blush taking to her cheeks. "At least I am."
"So am I," Maria said.
"Dawn?"
"Never even looked at a razor until today," Clarissa said quietly, holding what should have been eye contact with me, but I couldn't make myself look into her eyes that shone like- NO! This couldn't happen. Not again. She'd just leave like the others. She'd just end up another scar on my arms.
