The Only Hope For Me Is You

Poison looked at his brother, his eyes wide in fear. Ghoul tried to hide the small whimper he let escape his lips with a cough. Korse was here. He had found us.

“Poison what are we going to do?” Kobra asked, his voice quivering slightly. A laser shot at the broken clock above us, making it fall and land with a loud clank in front of us. Glass littered the air, falling into our hair.

Poison paused for a second before speaking, “We have to get to the garage. We can use the Trans Am to get away. If we leave through the back door the garage isn't that far away.” Another laser flew right passed Ghoul, making Ghoul jump and crash into Poison.

“There is no way we can make it out with all these lasers!” Ghoul shouted.

“You guys go…I'll hold them back and get to one of the motorcycles. We can all meet up at Dr. D’s place.” Kobra stated.

Both Poison and I shook our heads but he is the one that spoke, “No way in hell.”

Kobra rolled his eyes, “I'm the best shot and the best at riding a motorcycle. You guys have to hurry though. We don't have a lot of time if we want this plan to work.” My thought immediately flashed back to the last time I saw my mother, she had said pretty much the exact same thing to me right before she was killed. Multiple lasers shot through the cupboard making our supplies shatter, “We have to go now!” Kobra shouted.

Poison looked to Ghoul for help, however Ghoul said, “He's right Poison, if we want any chance of getting out of his alive you need to trust him.”

Ghoul grabbed Poison’s hand and we all stood up, Kobra took aim and shot two Dracs down. There was a look in Kobra’s eyes that I hadn't seen before, it was the look of a killer. “For fucks sake! Go!” He screamed at us, we ran, I followed Poison and Ghoul out the back. Kobra was a few feet behind us, when I looked over my shoulder I watched as another Drac hit the ground.

Once we made it outside we all tried to shoot at the enemy as we ran to the garage. Lasers flew in every direction, Ghoul and Poison shot down another Drac, and then I saw him. Korse. He stepped out of the black Trans Am. His grey coat flapped in the wind, his arm was steady as he took aim.

And then I saw Ghoul hit the ground, clutching his thigh, blood instantly started to seep through his fingers. Poison didn't waste anytime, he picked Ghoul up and rushed inside the garage. I looked back at Kobra and watched as he killed another Drac. “Go Jet! Get to the fucking car!” He shouted at me. I ran into the garage and saw Poison putting Ghoul in the passenger seat, he motioned for me to get into the back, I got into the Trans Am and Poison peeled out of the garage, crashing through the weak wooden doors. Poison peeled away from the diner, a large cloud of dust trailing behind us, lasers shot at the windows, making glass shatter all around us. I looked behind me and saw Kobra taking down a few more Dracs before running into the garage. Kobra had been right though, no one bothered chasing us, they were all too busy trying to kill him.

I could see Poison looking through the rearview mirror with anxious eyes. After a few more moments of driving I watched in horror as the diner and the garage exploded. Thick black smoke and bright orange flame engulfed the buildings. Poison’s eyes widened and his hands gripped the steering wheel tightly.

“Oh my God!” Poison exclaimed, “Can you see Kobra at all?”

I searched the smoke, hoping to see Kobra on a motorcycle, driving away from the flames. But I saw nothing, just the cars of BL/ind and the place we had called home being turned to ash.

"He’ll be okay Poison.” Ghoul seethed, his face was contorted in pain, “He is the best fighter of us all. He’ll be fine.” I wasn't sure if Ghoul was trying to reassure Poison or himself, but I prayed that he was right.
