Conspiracy

II

"If you start going insane too, I'm going to send you to that place as a patient." This was the third time her roommate had said such a thing, and to be honest, it was beggining to annoy her.

Amery had been working at Greystone for about two weeks, and she was happy with her job.
Of course, Olivia wouldn't understand it, since she was a Design student whose biggest dream was to decorate Kim Kardashian's house. Of course there were rough days, where the patients would try and physically assault her, but the guards never let it happen.

"Yes, Olivia, I got it." Her monotone warned Olivia that the joke had long ago stopped being funny, and therefore the blonde moved to her own room and left her friend sitting on the couch watching an old TV series that had been playing non-stop since the previous night.

Amery was only going to work the next day, this being her day off, which had left her with a lot of time to kill and think. Mikey Way, patient 1298, was a mystery to her. Not because of his illness; she had read his file and it was pretty standard, but he seemed peaceful and clear enough to not be diagnosed if she was the one doing so.

Every single day she had gone into his room, giving him his pills and his food, and he had engaged a conversation with her. She had learned he had been in a band, a few years back, and that no nurse around liked him, but that feeling was mutual.

Today, there would be a difference, since it was probably one of the elder nurses to take him his food and pills, and that could go wrong. If it did, which she hoped it wouldn't, he would be isolated from others in a room that even Amery feared.

The day had started too early for Amery, her feet almost dragging through the streets as she finally saw the building in front of her. Loving your job didn't always mean loving the time you had to wake up, and thi was the case here. However, she had a large cup of coffee in her hand, and was ready to try and stay awake.

As soon as her figure made its presence known in the nurse lounge, one of the elders walked to her hurriedly. She seemed quite annoyed, and Amery seemed to already know what it was about.

"He's in that cell." The other informed, making the redhead sigh. He couldn't behave for a single day? "I swear, he almost bit me! He uses that innocent act and then acts crazy and homicidal like all the others!"

It took a lot of effort for Amery not to burst out in a fit of laughter. Yes, some were quite intimidating and lunatic, but the sedatives they took twice a day made them as harmless as a ladybug. The girl placed her belongings in her own little locker, throwing the empty cup of coffee to the thrash.

"I'll make sure he doesn't bite you. Wouldn't want him to get a disease from the poison in your veins, would we?" Amery cackled as she left, still able to hear the elder lady gasp as her venomous words.

She was quite protective over the Mentally ill, especially the ones she took care of. Mikey wasn't insane, though, and she was just trying to prove to herself that same thing. If she could, then she could do the same for others.

The girl made her way to the secluded door, showing her credential to the security guard, that merely sighed and allowed her inside. She opened the door slowly, her head peeking inside. "Can I come in, trouble?" She asked with a soft smile.

Yes, only two weeks in and she already had nicknames for most patients. Mikey's was trouble, since he always seemed to get himself in trouble. He had chuckled at it, so he kept doing so. When his eyes fell on her, he breathed of relief, smiling shyly.

There was a vest making sure he couldn't move, and that didn't please Amery. He wasn't that dangerous.

"Come in at your own risk, Miss. Haven't you heard I bite people's heads off?" He replied, his voice a bit slurred, which showed that he was sedated again. Frowning mostly to herself, she made her way inside, walking to him.

"So I've heard." The girl nodded, going over to where he sat on a corner, and starting to untie his vest. "Really, you need to behave when I'm not around. I don't like coming here to find you're here." She asked him after releasing his arms.

Mikey stretched his arms, sighing in relief. He looked at her, almost an apologetic look, and she sighed in return. He knew he hadn't behaved his best, but the other nurses tended to be bitchy to him. Amery was nice and would actually maintain a conversation with him, which after a while was much needed.

"I know... But they are so bitchy." He whined like a little kid, making her chuckle.

"Come on, trouble, let's get you to your room." Amery knew that someone was going to get pissed at her, but it didn't matter. She grabbed his arm, mostly because the guard would be suspicious if she didn't, and walked out.

The guard eyed them both as they made their way out. When the couple was almost down the hall, the guard shouted at them.

"He's going back?!" He yelled out at Amery, but before she could answer, Mikey did.

"Yes. I didn't bite her head off, I get a prize for that."
