“Mr Iero?” He asked and I nodded. He looked really sad and I knew it had to be bad news.

“Gerard has lost a lot of blood and he keeps slipping in and out of consciousness. I’m afraid there’s a possibility he may never actually wake up.” My heart stopped and my head went fuzzy. I could see his mouth opening and closing so he was still talking but nothing he was saying was making any sense. What if I lost him? What if he died? I never even got to take him on a date. My legs gave in and I crashed to the floor hitting my head hard enough to black out.
“Frankie?” I heard a weak voice call. “Please wake up. I did for you. Ple-please.” That was Gerard’s voice and he was again crying. I tried to open my eyes but they wouldn’t budge. “Gerard can you give the nurse some space to sort out our Frank please?” My father voice I was sure of it. I felt Gerard’s arm move off mine and I heard him sigh. I felt the nurse wrapping something around my arm and then I felt the cold metal of the needle. Mt eyes flew open and I battered the woman’s hand away.”No fucking way.”The nurse sighed, “If you don’t have this needle you’re going to have a major headache sir.” “I don’t give a shit. I don’t trust any sort of medication. Especially those in a liquid form. I will be fine. I can deal with the headache.” She just nodded and left. I looked at my arm where she’d applied a bandaged and started to take it off. When I finally looked up Gerard launched himself into my arms. I held him tight. “How are you awake?” I asked amazed. Thank fuck he woke up.”I don’t know. Mikey came to visit and I heard him talking to Ray about you blacking out. Something in my brain kicked in and told me to wake. The nurse said I couldn’t visit you until I was a bit stronger. I didn’t think you were ever going to wake up. You hit your head pretty hard.” He looked really sad when he finally looked at me. “How long was I out?” I looked towards my father who was sat on the horrible white and hard plastic chair. “About 2 and half days, son.” My mouth opened wide. I didn’t hit my head that hard right? Apparently I did.

“Okay Mr Iero you can go home now. Just be careful.” I nodded and stood up. I made my way to Gerard’s room with my father in tow. “Hey.” Mikey greeted me and pulled me into a hug. “How you feeling?”I gave him a smile and looked towards Gerard. “I’m fine now. Is he okay?” Mikey nodded. ”When he wakes up he can go come home.” Mikey didn’t sound happy about that. “What’s wrong?” He sighed. “He has to have a parent there at all times for the next week, Truth is...” He pulled me into a hug and whispered the rest. “We live alone. Our parents left us and Gerard’s been working his arse off to feed us. With no parent to take him he has to stay for two weeks here.” He moved away and I looked towards my father and Ray. Ray gave me a death glare and I just gave him a smile. I guess he got the wrong idea. I turned back to Mikey and said loud enough for Ray to hear.”Just tell my father what you just whispered to me. He will understand. Okay?” He sighed and nodded again.
While Mikey and my father went outside to talk Ray came up to me. “So Mikey eh? You going to steal him from me? Is Gerard not good enough?” What the fuck? “Frankie? You like Mikey?” We turned to see Gerard awake and eyes glassy with tears ready to spill. “No. Look he told me about you two’s situation at home. If we can find you a parent to sign the papers and promise to look after you for the next one to two weeks you can come home now. He’s talking to my father about it now. I promise you I love you.” Ray smacked his forehead with his hand. “Sorry Frank. I should of known when them two walked out to talk.” I touched his shoulder. “Don’t worry about it.”

“What’s going on here?” Mikey asked as he walked in looking at my hand on Ray’s shoulder. “He got the wrong idea about us two.” I gave him a smile and he nodded while returning it. I removed my hand and looked hopefully at Mikey and my Father. “So?” “Well Frank, You do realise I have to go to work right son?” I sighed and nodded. I focused my gaze on the floor afraid to look at Gerardknowing we couldn’t help even though I’d put him in this place. “That’s why I’ve decided I’m calling your school and telling them what happened without going into to much detail. You will be staying home with him until he can go back to school.” My head rose and I launched myself on my dad saying the words thank you over and over again. He just chuckled and everyone else started to laugh at my actions. I just shrugged it off an headed towards Gerard. “I’m going to get the nurse and then we are out of here, okay?” He nodded and I left. I came back less than a minute later with the nurse who tried to stick the needle in my arm. She said some important stuff to my father about Gerard. I didn’t listen knowing he’d tell me again later. I just kept a hold of Gerard hand. “Alright once you’re dressed you can go home.” The nurse says and gives us a fake smile. I give Gerard a quick hug and we all left the room to get dressed. Once out of the room we bump into someone me and Mikey didn’t want to see.
