*Mikey Way’s POV*
We hesitantly made our way up the staircase, keeping an eye on almost everything that surrounded us. The incident with Frank had made us extremely self-aware. Once we had reached the top stair, Gerard sighed with relief.
‘Good, good. Nothing ate us on the way.’ he joked.
‘Shut up.’ I said, slapping his arm. We all peered into the darkness before us.
‘Anyone volunteer to go and look for the light switch?’ Ray asked.
‘Well, you thought of it, so by all means.’ Frank said, gesturing towards the blackness. Ray sighed before pushing his was past Gerard and Frank and disappearing into the unknown.


The place was quiet for a couple of minutes, still with no light to help us.
‘Ray?’ I called out. Still complete silence.
‘Fuck,’ Frank breathed, ‘we shouldn’t have let him go up there by himself.’
‘Come on, we’ll go together and find the switch.’ Gerard said. He grabbed Frank and I’s arm lightly as we stepped up onto the new floor. We guided ourselves over to what we suspected to be a wall and felt around. After a moment of silence, Gerard yelped.
‘Found it!’ he said. I heard a click and then the room lit up with extreme brightness. I squinted through the light before focusing on the room. There were large paintings of trees and wild life nailed to the light yellow, rotting walls and a red, highly stained carpet. The floor also had doors on either side, but instead of an empty hall way, it had rows of chairs and a TV set, alongside multiple desks that had dead pot plants sitting on top of them.


‘Looks like some sort of waiting room.’ I mumbled.
‘My room looked like this,’ Frank said, ‘the one that I was in when I woke up. Except it was quite a bit smaller than this one.’
‘We’re in a hospital!’ Gerard said suddenly, snapping his fingers. I realised he was most probably right.
‘Hey, um,’ Frank stammered. ‘Where’s Ray?’
I froze, only now realising that Ray wasn’t on that floor with us.
‘Oh, shit!’ Gerard groaned, looking around.
‘Ray?’ I yelled out. We started scanning the room. Frank walked over to the desks that were placed in the far left corner and peered under them.
‘Not here.’ He announced. We continued searching before I heard Gerard gasp in horror.
‘What, Gee?’ I asked worriedly. He looked at Frank and I before pointing a shaking hand at the floor in front of him. I looked. There before us was a big, obviously fresh patch of blood. I covered my mouth with my hands. Frank crouched down with his hands on his head as Gerard paced away to a wall and started banging his hand on it aggressively.
‘Fuck! They’ve got Ray! Something has Ray!’ Frank cried. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes. Ray couldn’t be hurt. Not fun, loveable, frizzy-haired Ray.

‘Come on,’ I said, wiping my eyes. ‘We have to find Ray.’
The others nodded and walked up to me.
‘There’s a hall down there.’ Frank said, pointing to the far right side of the room.
‘Perhaps he’s down there.’ Gerard said quietly. I took a deep breath and started walking towards the hall. We had to find Ray.
