Knock Knock

Mikey’s POV

“Who was that, Gee?” I ask as Gerard walks in. His face is noticeably pale, and he looks incredibly spooked. “Gee?” I repeat when he doesn’t answer.
“That was…t-that was D-Dad,” he stutters.
I blink a few times. “What’s wrong? What did he say?”
“He…” Gerard takes in a shuddery breath. “He knows where we are. I think, I think he’s coming to find us.”

I drop the comic book I was flicking through. I stumble to my feet and run in almost slow motion to Frank’s bathroom. I knock on the door, practically bruising my knuckles I bang so insistently.
Frank opens the door quickly, a towel wrapped around his waist.
“Who’s died?” Frank jokes.
“Our Dad knows where we are,” I rush. “We have to; I mean we’ve got to, argh! I don’t know!” I fret. “We have to get out before he gets us!”

Frank places his hands on my shoulders, which is kind of awkward seeing how short he is. He instructs me to breathe properly until I calm down somewhat, then we both return to the room where Gerard is pacing circles.

He sees us walk in and immediately falls to pieces.
“Frank!” he releases the name in what sounds almost like a sob. “Mikey!”

Gerard flings himself onto Frank, clinging to him with his short nails dug into Frank’s back. Frank guides them to the edge of the bed and coaxes Gerard to let go of his iron grip on his shirt. I sit down on the other side of Gerard, who automatically grasps for my hand. Now he clutches my hand crushingly tight in his own.

Gerard is silent for some time; his eyes are squeezed shut, the expression he wears looks as though he was caught in the middle of a blizzard. Frank patiently rubs circles into Gerard’s back. Both of us wait in silence for him to give him a while to think.

Eventually Gerard breaks the silence.
“Frank,” he begins weakly with eyes still closed, although now they are shut less forcefully. “I think it will be better if maybe we…if we stay apart for a little while. I don’t want you get hurt or,” he pauses to gulp, “worse, because of me. And Mikey, I think you should stay with him.”
“Not happening.” Frank and I state defiantly at the same instant.
“Gerard, I’ve been through so much with you. I can’t just give up on you, us, now. I never dreamed you would actually notice me; I mean the nerdy emo freak with no friends or social skills to speak of isn’t generally paid positive attention to.” He laughs dryly. “There’s absolutely no way Mikey and I are leaving you to yourself. We’re coming with you all the way.”

In the middle of Frank’s speech Gerard starts to cry. Frank also gets teary eyed, more than a few slipping down his cheeks. We’re both pulled into a massive group hug by
Gerard, who’s tears are wetting my shirt. I don’t mind though.
“Gee, you had to know that wouldn’t work.” I laugh lightly. “You’re not going without us.”
“But how am I going to keep both of you safe? I’ve already failed.” He sobs.
“You haven’t failed. And Frank and I can take care of ourselves just fine. There’s no worry.” I reassure him.
“Besides we could always get a restraining order,” Frank suggests.
“But Mikey and I are practically runaways, and I'm not 18 yet.” Gerard contradicts. “They’d catch us.”
Frank ponders for a few moments.
“We can take the rest of the week off of school just in case then, and rent out a hotel room. That way he won’t know where we are.” Gerard plans. I nod in agreement with the idea.
“Okay,” Frank says and reaches for his laptop. “I’ll do some searching now.” He opens the lid of the laptop and logs on.

I go downstairs to make hot chocolate to calm down. Once the jug of milk is heated in the microwave I add the powder into it and stir. I pour the chocolaty mixture into three mugs and arrange them so I can carry all three up the stairs. Then I begin walking carefully back to the room.

While I'm in the hallway I hear a knock at the door so I quickly place the mugs down on a side table sitting in the entrance way. I hurry to the door, hoping the visitor hasn't thought that nobody is home. I call out for the boys to come downstairs; by the time I have my hand on the door handle they’re here. I open the door to see-

At the end of this story I'm going to write you all a formal apology for my general laziness and apparent love for cliff-hangers

If your having problems with smut scenes, you could always get a co author for just those parts. The reader gets what they want and you don't have to feel awkward. You did really good though.xxx
