Terrible Things
Chapter Two
For the next two weeks Gerard walked into town and sat on the same bench. Waiting for Frank to turn up, hoping he could see him again. But he didn't. Gerard waited almost 3 hours everyday, desperate to see Frank. But Frank wasn't there.
Gerard was about to go out again, he pulled his shoes on and opened the door. He jumped when he nearly walked into someone on the doorstep.
"Uh, s-sorry," they stuttered. Gerard stepped back inside and looked at them. She was a bit shorter than him, shoulder length black hair. She had dark lipstick on, almost the same colour as her eye make up. Gerard gulped as he carried on staring at the girl. Just as Gerard opened his mouth to speak his mother appeared next to him.
"Oh, Lindsey! Sweetheart, it's lovely to see you," she beamed and pulled Lindsey into a tight hug.
"Um," Gerard stared at the scene, completely and utterly confused.
"Gee, it's Lindsey! Don't you remember?" they both stared at the obviously puzzled boy.
"It's fine, I don't really remember you either," Lindsey giggled. Gerard carried on giving his mother a confused, hoping she would explain what's going on.
"You two used to be inseparable when you were younger. They used to live next door but moved away when you were six," his mum explained, still smiling like an idiot.
"We live a few doors down, my mum ran into your mum when they shopping..." Lindsey carried on explaining.
"Right..." Gerard stared at the stranger. They used to be so close and he can't even remember her. Lindsey looked at the red haired boy, feeling a slight blush rise in her cheeks as she realised he was staring at her.
"Don't just stand there, come in, come in," Donna pushed Gerard out the way to let the young girl in. They wandered into the kitchen, followed by Gerard.
"So what brings you to good old Belleville anyway?" Lindsey asked sweetly, taking a seat at the table. Donna shot Gerard a quick before speaking.
"Oh, well a few months ago Gerard was, unfortunately, diagnosed-"
"Mum, stop" Gerard said sternly. Lindsey looked at Gerard, now confused herself.
"Gerard, don't interrupt me," she smiled at Lindsey before carrying on.
"Gerard was diagnosed with an awful-"
"Mum i'm serious! Shut up! She doesn't need to hear this," he slammed his hand on the counter, making Lindsey jump. He stared at his mother, anger coursing through his body. His mum gulped heavily and turned back to Lindsey.
"Gerard's not well," she stated simply.
"I'm going out, i'll be back later," he mumbled and started to walk out the room.
"Why don't you spend some time with Lindsey, do some catching up, yeah?" Donna suggested. Lindsey stood up and agreed with her.
"Sure, whatever," Gerard walked out the room and pushed his shoes on. Lindsey was quickly standing in front of him. Her dark eyes staring at Gerard. He opened the door and let her step out first before following her and closing the door behind him. They walked towards town silently.
"So, why did you stop your mum from telling me why you moved here?" she questioned. Gerard glanced her, then stared straight ahead.
"Because it's none of your business." he said bluntly.
"So you're not well, that's it?" she shrugged, baffled as to why it was such a big deal.
"Not well is an understatement" Gerard sat down at the same bench he had sat the day before, and the day before that.
"What do you mean?" Lindsey stared at Gerard, desperately wanting him to answer. Their eyes locked onto each other, a slight blush crossing Lindsey's cheeks.
"About a month before we moved here, I was diagnosed with some stupid illness. The only place that does the treatment for it is here, apparently there's some place that specialises in the treatment," Gerard said rather casually, shrugging. He watched Lindsey's face drop and a slight look of fear cross her eyes.
"Oh god, Gerard, i'm so sorry to hear that," she suddenly pulled him into a hug.
"You know, I've missed you. I know we were only young when I moved away, but I've still missed you a lot" She mumbled into his neck. She took in a deep breath, smelling his coffee and cigarette scent.
"You know, six year old me was practically in love with six year old you," Gerard giggled, feeling his cheeks burn.
"R-Really?" She laughed and pulled away from the hug, staring into his hazel eyes.
"Eighteen year old me is basically in love with nineteen year old you," Lindsey mumbled, suddenly feeling her whole face burn with a blush.
"W-Wait...Wh-What?" Gerard stuttered. Had he heard her correctly.
"I'm s-sorry," she blurted and turned away from him. Gerard reached over and gripped her chin gently, forcing her to look at him. He carefully leant towards her. His lips brushed against hers.
"You're so cute, Lyns," he murmured before pushing his lips against hers. Gerard didn't know what had come over him. He didn't know why he was kissing Lindsey. He convinced himself he was trying to forget about that Frank guy.
Gerard had never had a serious relationship, but he was ready for one. He hated being alone. It was a feeling he could never shake. He figured Lindsey could help that feeling stop.
Notes
update later, maybe. Idk though. Thanks for reading! (Sorry for any mistakes! I'll fix em later)
Happy Gerard is so cute!
I think he won't tell Frank about his illness, and Frank won't probably tell him about his life. ( it would be cool to be able to predict the future) (random thoughts)
Keep going!
xx (:
