Therapy

Shouting, school, stress and cigarettes.

Gerard was woken up by the sound of his brother shouting. As usual, he was arguing with their mother. Gerard groaned and rolled over, looking at his clock. He had an hour till he had to be at school.
"I hate him! This is all his fault!" he heard his younger brother screaming. Gerard let out a tired sigh. Mikey really did hate his guts.
"Honey, don't say that, you don't mean it!" his mother shouted back. Gerard jumped at the sound of a door slamming.
"I fucking hate it here, I have no friends! If Gerard wasn't so fucking messed up we wouldn't have had to move!" Mikey stormed upstairs, letting out a long line of swear words. Gerard jumped again when his brother slammed another door. He pushed himself up, and swung his legs out of bed. He rubbed his eyes, making them water a bit. He sniffed and tried not to let any tears fall.
"I'm sorry," Gerard mumbled to himself. He wish he had the strength to say it to his brother. But the sad truth is, Mikey had practically been ignoring Gerard completely since he woke up in hospital. It was driving Gerard crazy, he missed his younger brother. He missed being close. He missed being happy.
Once Gerard had forced himself to get ready, he carefully and quietly made his way downstairs, and into the kitchen. He pulled at his tie nervously, coughing gently to catch his mother's attention.
"Oh, good morning sweetheart," she beamed, handing him a cup of coffee. He smiled weakly and took a big sip of the drink. Gosh he loved coffee.
"How are you feeling?" she leant against the work top, focussing completely on him.
"A-Alright, I guess.." Gerard mumbled and took another sip of coffee to calm his awful nervous.
"Good, good. Better than Mikey, i'm guessing," she laughed bitterly and turned her attention to Mikey, who had now appeared in the doorway. He glared at his older brother.
"M'going now, bye" he said bluntly before turning around, leaving the house quickly. Slamming the front door behind him.
"He's such a grump," Donna rolled her eyes, trying to make Gerard smile.
"Hm, yeah.." Gerard put the empty cup down in front of him and stood up from the chair.
"I think I better be going now, too," he kissed his mum on the cheek before following Mikey. He had his head down most of the walk to the school, trying not to draw attention to himself.

The bell rang for third lesson, and the corridors quickly flooded with a massive crowd of students. Pushing and shouting, oh god how Gerard hated crowds. They stressed him out so much it was almost unbearable. He felt someone's shoulder hit his and he quickly turned his head to apologise, but was met by someone hissing 'watch where you're going' at him. He groaned and carried on following the other students. He pushed and shoved his way through them, desperately trying to get out the crowd so he could look at his timetable. He didn't even know what lesson he had. He finally stumbled away from the busy mass of students and yanked the paper out his pocket.
"History?" Gerard groaned to himself, he hated history. He bit his lip, suddenly feeling extremely stressed and desperate for a cigarette. He looked around him, searching for an emergency exit. His eyes fell on one and he mentally high fived himself. He scurried to the door and pushed his body against it, suddenly feeling himself stumbled outside. The cool hit his skin, making him sigh with relief. He walked down the steps, only to slumped down onto one. He pulled a pack of cigarettes out his blazer pocket and pulled one out, along with a lighter. He held the lighter up and cupped his hand, the flame warming his hand for a second before I lit the end of his cigarette. He took a long drag and shivered slightly, feeling himself physically relax.
"Hey man, can I borrow your lighter?" Gerard jumped at the voice and snapped his head up to look at where the voice had come from. A scruffy looking boy was crouched down in front of him, his hand held out towards Gerard, waiting for Gerard to pass him the lighter. His hair was about the same length as Gerard's, but darker. Gerard's was a dark brown, but this boys hair was jet black. He had emerald colour eyes, with splodges of brown and amber in them. He had two piercings; a ring in his nose and one in his bottom lip. Speaking about his lips, they were curled into one of the most perfect smirks Gerard had ever seen. He was mesmerised by the mysterious boys amazing looks for a second.
"Uh, ye-yeah" Gerard nearly dropped the lighter as he passed it to the boy, who thanked him before lighting his own cigarette.
"I'm Frank...Frank Iero," the boy said casually, blowing smoke out. Gerard watched the smoke drift up and slowly disappear.
"And you are?" Frank waited for Gerard respond.
"Oh- uh, G-Gerard," he stuttered and frowned at himself, suddenly feeling nervous again. He wasn't very talkative when it came to speaking to new people.
"Gerard?" Frank questioned, smirking at him.
"Um, y-yeah" Gerard blew a cloud of smoke out, watching it float up towards the sky. He jumped when he heard Frank giggled.
"Gerard what? I'm asking for you last name, silly" Frank continued to giggle, causing Gerard's face to flame with a furious blush.
"Oh- um, s-sorry. Uh, W-Way. Gerard Way," Gerard said hesitantly, frowning again. Did he really have to think about that. Another giggled erupted from Frank, making Gerard feel even more nervous. Why was he giggling so much?
"I haven't seen you around here before? You new?" Frank looked at Gerard, narrowing his eyes slightly, searching through his brain in case he had seen him before.
"Oh yeah, I just started today," Gerard said without stuttering, he felt somewhat proud of himself for that.
"Ah, lucky you," Frank said sarcastically, taking a long drag of his cigarette before stubbing it out on the concrete floor.
"Skipping third lesson, then, Gerard?" Frank smirked at the boy. Gerard was staring at the floor, knowing he would blush if he looked at Frank.
"Uh, yeah. M'supposed to have History, but I hate history, so.." he mumbled and stubbed his cigarette out too. Frank started to giggle again.
"Gosh your giggle is cute," Gerard suddenly blurted out. He slapped his hand over his mouth, surprised that he had said though out loud. He notice Frank's cheeks turning a light red colour.
"Mmm, thanks," Frank said, still giggling.
"Your face is cute," Frank said casually, standing back up and looking down at Gerard, whose cheeks were now a vey obvious deep red colour.
"Oh, uh-" Gerard jumped and squeaked slightly when the bell rang.
"Well, lucky for you, Gee, you just missed history," Frank held a hand out, offering to help Gerard to his feet.
"D-Did you just, um, call me Gee?" Gerard took Frank's offer and stumbled to his feet, nearly knocking into Frank.
"Yeah, is that okay?" Frank suddenly realised Gerard was quite a bit taller than him when he found himself looking up at the dark haired boy.
"Uh, y-yeah, that's fine" Gerard felt extremely hot and stressed now, how an earth was Frank doing this to him?
"Well, i'll see ya around, Gee" Frank giggled before leaving Gerard's side, making his way round to the front of the building. Gerard was left standing on his own, not knowing where to go or how to get back inside. But he couldn't shake the thought of Frank's giggle out his head for the rest of the day.
