Give Me Blood

III

It was the day of the concert and Gerard was up really early. He just couldn't sleep anymore, he was so excited. He had barely slept at all this night, but he didn't care about that, he was buzzing with anticipation and energy. The last two weeks had dragged on so slowly for him. Saying he was a bit flustered would have been a huge understatement. He was really nervous about seeing Frank and being able to watch him perform live, but he was the happiest he had been in a while. It was still an ungodly hour, when he stepped inside his bathroom to start getting ready for the big day ahead. It took him quite some time to get completely ready, but when he was finally sitting at his kitchen table, drinking his first cup of coffee for the day, he still had hours to kill and he was just as bored as he had been a week ago and just as lonely, so he decided to play some music to battle the pressing silence. As he searched through the tons of music he had, he came across his most played album of the last few weeks, Frank's 'Stomaches'. Normally, he doesn't like to play one and the same album over and over again in such a short period of time, but how could he not just make an exception for this one, which he craved to hear live? He had been singing and dancing along to these songs so often, that he knew them all by heart. He was almost bursting with excitement when it was finally time to leave the house. Well it wasn't exactly time yet, but he decided to show up early so he could try and see Frank before the concert. He also couldn't stand the waiting anymore. He really didn't know why he was so nervous but he he couldn't help it. When he arrived, there were innumerable people standing in line already, waiting to be let into the venue. Gerard looked around in search for a familiar face, someone who could let him in. He couldn't find anyone he knew, so he went looking for a back entrance, while dialing Frank's number in his phone. As Frank picked up, his energetic voice rang through to Gerard's ear, as he greeted him enthusiastically. They arranged for Frank to meet Gerard at the entrance. When Gerard arrived there, Frank was already waiting for him with a wide and toothy grin on his face. He looked good, in Gerard's opinion, at least. He hadn't changed much, appearance wise. In Gerard's eyes, he was the most adorable person to ever exist. His cute smile could light up Gerard's world, this fact hadn't changed, either.
Inside and out, Gerard considered Frank to be a beautiful man, he always had. As he came closer, Frank spread his arms wide for him, his smile widening even more, if that's possible. Gerard copied his grin automatically, also opening his arms. It felt right to embrace his old friend. He knew that he had missed him, of course, but he hadn't realised how much, until he stood directly before him. He hugged him tightly, wishing to never let go. But when Frank began to draw back, he, too had to withdraw.
'Come on, let's go', Frank chirped, holding out his hand for him to take. He didn't know, where Frank wanted to go, so he took his hand and let himself be dragged off by Frank in the direction of the tour buses, which were getting closer, the faster Frank got. When they were inside one of them, Frank gave Gerard a coffee and sat down on one of the couches. Gerard took the coffee with a smile, sitting down close to Frank. He had intended to catch up with Frank before the concert, but the silence between them remained and extended in time. It was, however, not awkward at all. Somehow, they didn't need to talk to understand each other. Both were elated to finally be reunited, they had relaxed considerably, some of the tension they didn't even know that they had in them, had dissolved. 'I've missed you so much', Frank finally spoke up, looking over at Gerard, his eyes expressing the honesty that lay in his words. 'Me too, me too', Gerard murmured against Frank's neck, hugging him close. He had this overwhelming feeling of relief flooding through him. They belonged together, that much was clear to him. He couldn't know how bad he was going to miss him, when their ways parted about a year ago.
But true friendship can endure anything and now that they have met again, Gerard doesn't want to be apart from him for so long ever again. There was still enough time until Frank had to go on stage and play, so they used it to finally catch up with each other. They talked about the last year, the music they wrote and how the process of writing was a lot more slow and exhausting than when they used to write together. They had a good time in each other's presence and it felt as if they'd never been apart. They could just pick their friendship up where they left off. The familiarity of Frank beside him, sparked a warm, fuzzy feeling inside of Gerard and he wouldn't have had it any other way.
But it seemed like there was something more. Something unknown...
