Chapter two!

~Frankie's point of view~
I groaned as i woke up. I hadn't gotten much sleep last night. Today was Wednesday, and i would start school Monday. I sat up and looked around my new room. I had my bed pushed against one wall, with the window on the wall just above my feet. Great i'd get an eyeful of sun each morning. I'd have to get dark curtains or something. I got up and dressed in some ripped dark blue jeans and a black AC/DC shirt. I pulled my old gray converse on. Even though i didn't start school for five days i should probably get my schedule for classes. I Walked down stairs and found my mom sitting in the kitchen.
"Mornin' Hon. Where you off to?" She asked with a smile as she sipped her coffee. I smiled at her and dropped a kiss on the top of her head as i walked by. Yea she was my mother but she had been young when she had me. Sometimes i felt as if i needed to protect her from the cruelness of the out-side world instead of the other way around. She was great but she had this idea that life was perfect and the world was just fine. When really things weren't so black and white. I think a lot of the time she needs me to tell her everything would be just fine, So that's what i'd do.
"Oh, i'm just gonna go pick up my schedule for school. Maybe drive around town a bit after? That's cool right?" I asked just to be sure she wouldn't need me for anything today.
She nodded.
"Hey, Yesterday i talked to Donna Way, our neighbor. She said you and her son Gerard hung out? She said he was 17 i think. That's good right? You're already making new friends?"
I sighed. Of course, my mother would have already talked to the neighbors. She was a social butterfly unlike me. It annoys her how anti-social i am so it makes sense she was happy i'd already have a friend.
"Uh, Yea i guess. I mean we've talked like once so...I dunno." I said leaning against the counter, Drinking coffee and studying my shoes. I needed new ones. I looked up to see my mom staring at me. I raised my eyebrows. "Well! Tell me do you like him?" She asked excitedly. My mother was perfectly fine with having a gay son. Sometimes she was too happy about it i thought but i guess that's a good thing. I rolled my eyes. "Mom. I am not talking to you about guys! I love you but no. It would be weird." i said. She laughed a bit then stood up.
"Well I'm gonna go get dressed then start unpacking. Get going" She said, I grabbed my keys and walked out to my old rust, Chevy truck from like 1976. She was an old car but i loved her.
I cranked up the radio as i drove.
I arrived at the school in only a couple minutes. I rolled my eyes. Small town suck. I jumped out of the truck and headed to the office. I was surprised to see how many high school student were here. I waled into the front doors and walked over to the counter. I got my schedule pretty quick and started to walk back to my truck.
I drove around town. So far i had seen a park a couple blocks from my house a gas station houses. Plenty of houses, and a cafe. There was a roller skating rink also. That was about it. I decided to stop wasting gas and get home. When i pulled into my drive way and silenced the music i noticed Gerard sitting in a tree that was in his yard, but close to the edge of mine.
"Hey Frankie!" He called as i got out of the truck. I waved hi to him. "Come here!" he called with a smile. I sighed softly and walked over to him.
"Hello. what's up?" He asked looking down at me from where he sat in the tree.
"Uh, nothing...just got back from getting my schedule" I held the paper up then folded it and shoved it back in my pocket.
"Oh. Lemme see it. I memorized mine. " I handed the paper to the red haired boy in the tree. The red was obviously dye. i found myself wondering what color it naturally was. And wanting to run my fingers through it..
"Ok. We have a few of the same classes together. Hey we should just meet before school in the morning and i could show you around?" He asked. I nodded. I guess it was nice to have a friend i just wasn't used to people being so nice to me...
"I could drive us. I have a truck" I said lightly pointing behind me.
"Sure as long as Mikes can come to. I usually walk him." Gerard said smiling.
Just then A woman a bit older than my mom came outside.
"Gerard! i need you to run to the store for me! . " She called as she walked over. She noticed me and seemed surprised.
"hi, I'm Donna Gerard's mom. Are you a friend?" She asked holding out a hand for me to shake, smiling. I took her hand and shook it twice.
"Uh, Yea. I just moved in next door. You talked to my mom yesterday i think." I said looking at my toes.
"Oh yes! Well it's nice to meet you. " She turned to Gerard who was still in the tree. "I need you to go get some dog food." She handed him the keys to what i assumed was her car and some money. He jumped down at last, after she had walked away.
"Wanna come?" He asked.
I shrugged and nodded.
he drove us to the local grocery store. On the way there he spent the time talking.
"So, How old are you Frankie?" He asked. I didn't miss the way he said my name. I loved it.
"Uh, 16. You?"
"seventeen, But i'm gonna be eighteen soon. Then I can move out. It's , what, January? School starts in a couple weeks but i'll be eighteen in April, and when i turn eighteen i'm buying an apartment and leaving that godforsaken house so i can be myself instead of hide the real me from my family" Gerard said. I felt bad about his mom but before i could say anything he was talking again "Does your mom know? About..." He asked. I understood what he was trying to say. I shifted uncomfortably as he got the food for his dog and payed.
"Uh, Yea" I reached up to scratch my neck awkwardly. "Yea, She's cool with it. She doesn't give a shit" I said. He smiled as we walked back to the car he said. "That's good. i'm happy for ya. What Grade are you in by the way?" He asked.
"Senior. I will be anyways this year"
he nodded as he spoke "Me too." was all he said.
After a couple minutes he spoke again, tapping his fingers on the steering will.
"SO, did you notice Tiffany checking you out in the store?" He looks at me with a raised eyebrow. i shook my head.
"Tiff is the girl who rang us up. She goes to my school. She's...fifteen maybe? And Totally one of those weird girls that's super turned on by gay guys? She's kinda strange" He said. i giggled at the way he explained things. He parked into his drive way and i jumped out.
"I should get home. Bye Gee" I said as i walked around the car to face him.
"Frankie, Bye" He said quietly. i nodded then turned and walked away. Oh god. That beautiful was going to be the death of me.
