Eternity Is An Unbearable Thought

While preparing for his hellish trip home, Frank found Gerard and Glasses arguing heatedly near the school entrance. Well, it more like Glasses growling and snarling and Gerard answering with practiced patience. His quirks eyebrow was the only give away that showed just how annoyed Gerard actually was.

He caught sight if Frank after several grueling minutes of back-and-forth snapping between the two vampires. He smiled slightly upon spotting him and left the other screaming at thin air to walk to Frank's side, much to Frank's amusement. Glasses looked ready to kill, and -- Frank shits you not -- a fucking bird fell from the sky.

Fucking shit.

"What a drama queen," Gerard mused sadly, shaking his head.

"Drama queen?!" Frank cried shrilly. "He murdered a fucking bird 'cause he was pissed off!"

The vampire scoffed as he walked forward. "But did he have to kill it?"

Frank didn't know how to answer. The pair walked along in silence, Frank keeping a wary eye on the elder. He didn't get it; what did have to offer an all-powerful vampire, so deadly he could kill with merely a glance? Nothing was the answer. He had nothing to give the vampire, nothing but his memories and lasting sadness. Maybe his anger. He had a lot of that.

Upon arriving home, Frank spun on Gerard and said, with his usual spitfire that he prided himself in, "There, you walked me home! Are you happy, motherfucker?"

Gerard looked up at the house thoughtfully before saying, "Not yet."

Rage flooded Frank's system. "What do you mean? You got what you wanted, didn't you? You got your rocks off walking me home, so piss off!"

Frank was reminded of who he was talking to when Gerard snarled, low in his throat. Fear was the next emotion Frank felt. He did what he could to mask it, but he thought it was probably quite apparent, considering his knees were starting to buckle. Gerard's face softened and he cupped a hand around Frank's elbow to keep him upright.

Gerard sighed heavily. "Sorry about that. I have trouble keeping my temper in check at times," he said, reaching out to ruffle Frank's hair. The smaller tried to duck away from the hand, but it was persistent and landed in Frank's hair anyway.

Gerard didn't leave until Frank was in his house, and even then, he lingered for a while, aware of Frank's watchful eyes. Frank noted that he only left when Frank moved away from the window and retreated to the backyard to talk to his mom.

"I don't know what's happening, Mom. This vampire, Gerard, is-- I don't know, taking care of me! It's ridiculous. I'm not going to deny it; the guy's attractive as hell, but he's a vampire. And he likes drawing! What is he? I mean, surely he's not a real vampire. What kind of vampire hovers around some human because of their eyes or their smell? What kind of vampire enjoys the arts? What do I do, Mom?"

He had tears in his eyes by the time he finished his rant, a frustrated groan erupting from his gut. He laid down on the freshly-grown grass over his mother's grave and wrapped a weak hand around the makeshift grave marker. "I miss you," he whimpered.
