Eternity Is An Unbearable Thought

You Know How This World Can Beat You Down

Upon arrival to his first period (physics, fuck his life), Frank was beyond baffled by the black-haired boy’s behavior. Not only was he a vampire who had just spared a human’s life, but he had mistaken him for a fertile as well. That shit just didn’t happen in the everyday world.

He flopped carelessly into his seat, which was situated right behind a fertile male with braces and in front of douchey dominant with sinus problems. Beside him was Ray’s seat, although, more than once, that seat had been filled with someone whom was not Ray, but the tall boy had wussed out when it came to claiming it back. It always angered Frank was Ray kneeled before the bloodsuckers without a second thought, like “every good human should do” or some bullshit like that.

The teacher -- a small woman with a big attitude -- took role quickly before launching into a powerpoint presentation on molecular structure and composition. Sinus Dude was sniffling away behind Frank and Braces Man was making slimy spit noises as he ran his tongue over his teeth. Coupled with the fact that Ray was tapping his pencil rapidly and bobbing his ‘fro to some unknown beat, Frank found it impossible to pay attention. Instead, he let his thoughts wander to dangerous territory.

Vampires.

From Frank’s tragic experiences, he could rightfully say that vampires were the scum of the earth, contrary to popular belief. He didn’t exactly hide it, but he didn’t broadcast it like a dumbass. No, he wasn’t going to do that after he promised his mom he wouldn’t let them get him. He was going to make something of himself, do something right in his life and change the world for the better. Maybe he would create peace between humans and vampires, or possibly just eradicate the vampire species altogether.

The bell snapped Frank from his ambitious thoughts, reminding him that he was not in fact goddamn Hitler and that he would not be committing genocide any time soon. He shuddered slighty when he realized he had been thinking of mass murder. His mom would have been so disappointed if she found out.

Carefully, and without speaking to his perpetually scared best friend, Frank left the room, walking to his English class as quickly as he could without drawing attention to himself. He passed the vampire he had encountered the morning prior. The boy had his head up, supposedly deadly eyes half-lidded and a radius of about three feet between him and the crowd. He radiated power -- Frank could feel it -- but respect was the last thing that radiated from the crowd around him; fear was all Frank could sense. Bystanders glanced at him as he walked by with cautious eyes (no matter their status) and some moved blatantly away from him with wide eyes and mouths drawn tight.

Never had Frank seen someone have so much attention placed on themselves, but have so little company.

Lunch was the time of day Frank dreaded most. Lately, he had not only gained the reputation of “emo human freak,” but also “nerd,” which Frank was surprised was still even used in the modern day vernacular. Therefore, he had won some unneeded attention from the tough-guy dominants who needed an ego boost after being demoted to second-most feared vampires.

Cornered and angry, Frank stood his ground, scowling with his arms crossed. He knew he looked like a petulant child who didn’t get his cake, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. He felt like he was already letting his mom down by getting corner by The Human Thumb and Co.

Thumb grinned, revealing gleaming fangs that were dulled slightly from their use. He took a step forward and placed his meaty hand on Frank’s shoulder, shoving his roughly into the brick wall. Before Frank could open his mouth to make some stupid-as-shit comment about the guy’s resemblance to a thumb, the pressure was suddenly gone and there was a flash of black.

Thumb was suddenly hanging from a tree branch by his surprisingly white tightie-whities, “bitch” scrawled across his forehead in black sharpie. The perpetrator -- whom Frank now realized was Dead Eyes -- stood smirking up at his creation, before shooting a menacing look (a raised eyebrow and a half-smile) at Thumb’s partners in crime. The three other micropenises dashed off to fuck-knows-where, leaving Frank standing in the corner with the same baffled thoughts as he held that morning. Dead Eyes gave him a small, genuine smile before disappearing as abruptly as he had appeared, smirk and all.

Frank groaned. What the hell? Did he have some prepubescent Batman looking out for him now?

Aww hey don't worry about them :) you do you. In a matter of years you won't ever see them again. High school is just a way for people to be jerks. Trust me, I graduated and I didn't give a shit about those people and just focused on my grades :) you can do it, I believe in you.

Anyway, i hope you find peace and upload the next chapter soon!
