Kids in Love

Chapter 16

"You look so... so, different!" Lindsey told her, taking a step back and looking her up and down. Alice was no longer dawning her usual plain clothes, not that she didn't like what she wore before, it's just that she'd grown tired of wearing the same style constantly. She studied herself in the full length mirror that was hung behind her bed room door.

She wore a pair of ripped black jeans, and a Nirvana t-shirt. They were a band she'd always loved though her friends back in California would never listen to them, no matter how much she asked them to. She wore a pair of black boots and some necklaces and rings she already had but had never worn too. Though the outfit was refreshing to look at, the real difference was in the way Lindsey had done her hair and make-up. Her long, usually straight, hair was now textured and loosely waved and she wore more dark eye-liner now than she had worn accumulatively over the past year.

Alice welcomed the change and was eager to transform her look but she didn't realise how much she'd actually like it. She just wondered why she hadn't done it sooner.

Frank had no idea what was actually going to tell Gerard but he just knew he had to get whatever he was thinking off his chest. "Well dude, what's up?" Gerard sat down beside Frank at the kitchen island, nudging a cup of strong coffee toward his friend. Frank still had a pounding headache so the coffee was a blessing.
"I'm gonna be honest with you man, I'm not really sure." Frank let out a small chuckle, thinking about how to phrase it his emotions without sounding ridiculous. "You know how you and this girl, the one from last night..."
"Lindsey."
"Yeah. You know how you and Lindsey talked for like one night and now you're completely head over heels?" Gerard nodded, accepting Franks description.
"Yeah, I guess that's true."
"Well," Frank thought for a moment, taking a small sip from his still way too hot coffee, "How do you think you'd feel about her if you guys had talked for twelve years?" he cringed at his own voice, why couldn't he just say it.

"C'mon man, tell me!" Gerard coaxed.
"Tell you what?" Frank asked stupidly, he knew exactly what Gerard was referring to,
"Just fucking say it out loud, admit that you're in love with Alice already!" he threw his arms up in the air and slammed them back on the counter top, letting out a dramatic sigh.
"How the hell do you know?" Frank asked,
"Oh, come, on! You make it so painfully obvious man. When Alice left you cried for like two weeks straight, and that was not just because you guys were friends and you know it!" Gerard told him, "We were all best friends but even back then it was clear that you guys had something special, like a connection or something."

Frank couldn't dispute it, he and Alice were practically the same person. During those summers they barely spent more than five minutes apart on any given day, it felt weird for him to go without talking to her. That made it so hard to come to terms with her leaving, facing the fact that he wouldn't get to spend that precious time with her again like he used to.
"Well, yeah, you're right man. I think I actually do love her! I know she's only been back a few days but it's like all of those memories from before came flooding back, and she stirred up all of this stuff again. Y'know?" Frank still found it difficult to express what he was trying to say but he knew exactly how he felt. He was broken completely when she left and when Alice returned it was like she brought a little piece of him back with her.

"So if you feel like this about her then why haven't you told her yet?" Gerard asked and took a sip of his coffee, slowly waking up completely.
"What if she doesn't feel the same man, I don't know if I could take it. Getting abandoned all over again." he groaned and dropped his head to rest his face on the cool marble counter.
"I know it would suck but you're never gonna find out unless you try. It would suck worse to find out she felt the same way right before she left, right?"

I just came across this story and it's so good I love it! I read the whole thing in one day!

for some reason it seems pointless for me to ask for an update, but I will anyways.

I need to know how it ends! You'd be the most amazing person ever if you update this now after so long!

That's just rude of them! How can they expect anything to be done good and right, if you don't have the information? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Hmm, also to answer one of your questions. (Considering I've been a My Chem fan since I was 12) My favorite song by them is Headfirst for Halos. <3
