Chat Room Now Available

Winter Nights, Summer Days

Gerard's POV

The next day Frank called me and we went for a walk in the park. It was really hard to look at him, so I tried to focus my eyes on my dirty, yellowing, white converse. We walked with our feet stepping at the same time. We were quiet for a minuet, then he stopped.

"I'm not mad." He turned to me "I wish you could understand that. I just want to get past it." I looked at him, at his eyes. He looked tire, like he hadn't slept. "I'll forget it if you can." He turned forward and continued walking, leaving me standing staring at his feet walk away from me, one step at a time. For a second I didn't know him. I didn't know the guy walking away from me in a park, with below freezing weather, on some day in December. And I just stood there. Then he stopped.

"Are you still standing there?" He said without turning around. I nodded, not that he could see.

"Yeah," I coughed. He turned his head slightly, then his whole body all at once. We looked at each other for a few moments. His cheeks were red while the rest of his face was white from the cold. His hands rested effortlessly in his pockets of his jacket and suddenly I was overwhelmed by some feeling that I couldn't explain and would probably never feel that exact way again. I lunged forward probably a foot, plunging my body onto his, smashing my lips with his. I took both his hands in mine, entangling our fingers. He didn't even seem surprised. If anything a little bored, like we were actors in a movie, rehearsing this scene for the 23rd time.

"Frank," I pulled away slightly, our foreheads and noses still in contact. "I love you. Nothing's going to change that ever. No women or man or fight or... Or anything. I-I love you, ok?" He nodded, tears trickling out of his closed eyes.

"I love you too." He whispered.

We sat on a bench, watching the snow begin to fall onto the grass.

"I love winter." Frank said, laughing.

"I love it too."

"Not as much as I love you, though." He smiled up at me.

"That was corny." I retorted.
