I sat there, staring at the door. What just happened? Gerard seemed so awkward and not like earlier. I decided to stand up and walk slowly towards the door. I opened it as silently as I could, but it flung open and Gerard fell backwards and onto my feet. I jumped, not expecting him to have been leaning against the door. "I... I'm sorry", I whispered, quickly stepping back. He stood up just as fast and looked down at me. He was... Gorgeous. His face was flawless, his eyes were a perfect hazel color and his hair was longish and almost black. He stared down at me and I stared right back up for a while, taking in his features. He didn't say anything for a long time. "It-it's okay, Annabelle. I... Wanted to apologize from earlier", he said softly. Then his eyes darkened. "I don't usually take that much from slaves. I want to keep 'em around so I can... Feed for longer", he said, sounding unsure of what he was saying. I nodded and stepped back. "I have to feed you now", Gerard said blankly and turned around to head towards the kitchen. "Come on", he said hazily. I followed behind, keeping my distance from him. We made it into the kitchen and he opened some cupboards and pulled out things to make me dinner. Or lunch. Or breakfast. I didn't even know what time it was. He started cooking and kept looking up at me. I kept my eyes glued to the floor and stood there awkwardly but I could feel his eyes on me. "D-do you... Need me to do anything, master?" I whispered. "Don't call me master", Gerard said sharply but softly. "And no. Just eat", he said, finishing up what he was cooking and handed it to me on a plate. A plate? Wow. I never got plates in the factory. We had to eat with our hands and on the ground. "Thank you", I said quietly and sat on the ground. "Sit at the table", Gerard commanded quietly. I stood up and sat at the stool at the island where he... Fed on me earlier. Gerard leaned against the island and continued to stare at me. I sighed and looked up into his beautiful eyes. "Look, if you're ready to kill me or rape me or... Do whatever, I'm ready. You don't have to stare at me", I said, raising my voice but losing eye contact with him because I was scared. He stood up and out of the corner of my eye I saw him tense up. "I would n-.... Don't raise your voice with me", he said blankly. "I... Don't want to hurt you", he added softly. I looked up at him quizzically. "What?" I said blankly. "I don't want to hurt you, Annabelle. I-I don't know. I've hurt a lot of your filth-...I mean, just. Your kind. But you... I don't want to. You have a way about you", he stammered, his cheeks getting red. I looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. "I thought all vampires wanted to kill humans", I whispered. "Me too", Gerard replied with a slight scoff. "But I don't know, Annabelle. You're.... Beau-.... Different", he said, blushing an even deeper red. "And I.... D-don't want to see you get hurt"
