Never Let Them Hurt You
Chapter 19
(Gerard)
I held my Annabelle for a little while longer, but I started getting antsy. I wanted to do something with her. "Annabelle, do you want to go plant your flowers? We can plant them right near the lake... Or wherever you want, I suppose. Then maybe we can go out on a boat", I suggested. She gave me a confused look at sat up. "I don't know what that is", she admitted, sounding embarrassed. "I'll show you. Come on", I said, helping her up off the bed. I grabbed the flowers, somehow managing to balance all of them in my hands.
We went downstairs and outside into the vast backyard. Then I realized I had forgotten an umbrella, and it was a rather sunny day. "Uh, Annabelle, let's get these out quickly, darling. I have to grab an umbrella once we set these down", I said, sort of frantically. She nodded and picked up the pace. Eventually we were down by the lake. I set the flowers down quickly. "I'll be right back", I said and started sprinting towards the house. I made it there rather quickly, but that's just another 'vampire perk'. I rushed inside to grab my black umbrella and hurried back out. Annabelle was sitting down, admiring the flowers and looking up at the sky. I sat next to her and watched her. She seemed so infatuated. "Annabelle have you ever been outside?" I asked quietly. She turned to me and shook her head. "Yesterday was my first time", she said and smiled weakly. "The sky is so pretty. It's so big. And these flowers... Gerard I love them", she rambled. It was adorable. She was infatuated by the world around her. I smiled at her from underneath the dark umbrella. "So should we plant these?" I asked and she nodded.
After about an hour of choosing where to plant them, in what order and actually planting the blooms we were done. We stood up and I wrapped an arm around her. We stood there under the little black umbrella and I kissed her cheek. It had a little dirt on it from planting, and honestly it was pretty sexy. She seemed like she wasn't afraid to do a little work, and not care if she got messy. "Ready for a boat ride?" I asked and rubbed her shoulder. She nodded. "I guess?" She said, still confused as to what the hell a boat was. "Come on, I'll take you out in a canoe", I said and led her towards the water.
