Bright Lights That Cast A Shadow

Chapter Twenty One

All four of us huddled around the bed of a groggy looking Bob's bed. He spent a couple of minutes just trying to get with reality.
"Hey guys," He finally croaked out with a hoarse whisper. We all gave him weak smiles and Ray rushed to go get him some water. He drank greedily from the paper cup before trying to speak again. "Ah it's a little better." His voice was still pretty much crap, but it did sound a bit better
"I see the patient is awake?" A voice from behind us said. We all turned to the sight of Bob's doctor finally showing. "I'm Dr. McKinny," He introduced himself.
"Bout fucking time," Frank muttered under his breath. I smirked but elbowed him anyway.
"Sorry I was so long." The doctor ran his fingers through his hair and let out a sigh. He did look pretty tired. "There was an emergency with a cancer patient that I had to help with..." He trailed off and we knew better than to ask. "Anyway." He straightened up and walked over to Bob. He did the basics, such as checking his pulse, blood pressure, and breathing. Then he pulled out some x-rays.
"We ran an x-ray when you first arrived. As you can see here," He pulled out one of Bob's leg and pointed to two or three spots. "The leg is broken in multiple places. It might be awhile before you can use it again." He picked up the second one, this time displaying his ribs. "You also have a crack in one of your right ribs. That should be no problem really. It might hurt a bit but it shouldn't affect you too much." Finally he held up the final image of the brain. "Luckily, there is no sign of a concussion or hemorrhaging so you are good to go there."
We all nodded, studying the images. I cringed at the sight of his leg and rib. That was all my fault.
"So Doc, when can I be out of here?" Bob asked, already itching to get out of the hospital with its ugly white walls and crappy food. Dr. McKinny laughed, probably use to getting asked that question.
"We want to keep you over night just to make sure there are no side affects, but you can leave bright and early tomorrow morning." He informed him with a smile.
"Screw bright and early," Bob grumbled, "But yeah I'll leave." Dr. McKinny smirked and walked swiftly out of the room, leaving us alone again. A dense silence filled the room as each of us became engulfed in our own thoughts. Finally Bob cleared his throat. He looked wary and afraid but determined to say something.
"Uh guys?" He mumbled, barely understandable, even from their spots three feet away. They all looked at him while he scratched his arm nervously. "Can I uh...talk to Gerard alone?" The others shot a confused look between the us but stood up anyway. I frowned. This couldn't be good.
"Yeah uh sure..." Mikey answered for the group uneasily. "I want coffee. You guys wanna come with?" Frank and Ray nodded, exiting the room, leaving the two of us alone.
"Gerard?"
"Yeah?"
"I just want to say before I begin that I never meant for anything to happen. I really honestly didn't want to hurt you I swear!" He cried out in a rush. I gulped really not liking where this was going at all.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked warily only half wanting the answer. He looked like he was fighting back tears.
"I helped her Gerard!" He wailed finally. I froze, not even breathing. He didn't...He really didn't mean...
"I was giving Lindsey information!" He confessed. As soon as he said it the words just seemed to tumble from his mouth. "At first it was just really simple stuff, like where does Gerard work? What does he do there? In exchange she was paying me off, and promised me immortality when it was all done. I didn't know who she was or what she was planning. I know, stupid of me. I should've realized she wasn't up to any good. But I kept helping her. Eventually it turned to questions like who's important to Gerard? Tonight though she wanted more than information. She wanted me to break into Frank's house. I told her no and that I wasn't going to go that far. That's when she attacked me." He finished in quiet sobs.
I sat there totally frozen. I remembered our conversation in the alleyway.
"I turned Frankie boy against you. He hates you now. And there's still your brother and other two friends to go. Just think about what I'll do to them."
I felt sick to my stomach. She had made Frank leave me. She had turned Bob into a spy against me and then broke him, mentally and physically. And now she would go after Ray and Mikey. And it was all my fucking fault.
I wasn't mad at Bob. I didn't blame him. Lindsey knew how to get what she wanted, and she always got it no matter what. Poor Bob didn't stand a chance against her persaussive skills.
"I'm...so sorry...Gerard," Bob blubbered between hiccups and sobs. I finally unfroze and leaned over to hug him. I rocked him back and forth. It made me sad to see him, a guy who was normally so big and strong, reduced to a sobbing heap.
"Ssh Bob. It's okay. It's not your fault, it's Lindsey's." I blinked stunned as the words slipped out. Lindsey's fault. Lindsey's fault. What Frank had been trying to get across to me earlier finally clicked and I found myself filling with rage. It was like a curtain parted and I could finally see.
It wasn't my fucking fault.
Lindsey killed her fucking boyfriend. She knew that I had no clue he was cheating. She just loved to play sick masochistic games. I was just trying to live out my fucking life after she ruined it. Heaven forbid I might want to get a job, have an apartment, and friends, maybe even a fucking boyfriend! She just wanted to come fuck me over just because she felt like it.

My anger surprised me. I wasn't normally an angry person. I was usually more shy and went with whatever happened, taking the meek path. But not now. She was threatening everything and everyone I loved, and it pissed me the fuck off.

I just hoped that I could get to her before she hurt one of my friends again. And believe me, when I find her, we won't be sitting down for coffee. She'll be fighting to keep her fucking bitchy ass head on.

Notes

Ooh Lindsey pissed Gerard off. hehe. Gerard uses language when he's upset, just like Frankie. they're perfect for each other.

Chapter twenty one. Twenty One Pilots :3

I'm going on vacation soon so I won't be able to update this for like a week after tomorrow. Because of that I'm going to try to get another chapter up tonight. I'll try.
