You're Beautiful To Me

I watch the kids play while Frank goes to make us breakfast and while he's gone Anna and Miles make their way over to the shelf of toys and books, Anna picking out her unicorn while Miles picks out his favourite stuffed dinosaur and they happily play for a few minutes before Anna drops her unicorn and reaches out to grab Miles' foot, Miles kicking his leg as he lets out a small whine of protest until Anna's fingers start scratching and tickling at the bottom and he lets out a squeal as he falls back to lay on the floor, giggling so hard his whole body is shaking with it and Anna giggles too as she lets go of his foot and launches herself ontop of him, trying to tickle his sides as he squirms beneath her, still giggling until Anna stops and leans in to press a kiss to his lips, making a loud "mwah" noise as she pulls away. I smile wide as Anna sits back next to Miles and he pushes himself up, reaching out towards Anna with grabby hands and she giggles again as she reaches out and grabs his hand. "My my" Anna chirps out as she stands up, trying to pull Miles with her and he makes it to his knees before his forehead creases in concentration and he brings one leg up, planting his foot on the ground as Anna holds his hands and I decide to just sit back and watch, seeing Miles attempt to stand fully and he almost makes it before he falls backwards, his hands slipping from Anna's grip as he lands on his butt and he sits there stunned for a few seconds before he bursts into tears, a loud wail escaping his lips and Anna frowns as she sits beside him and says "Ok My" as she gently pats his head but it does nothing to calm him down, his cries escalating to screams and I get up off the couch, crossing the room to them and kneeling in front of Miles, scooping him up to settle against my chest, his face burying in my neck as I gently rub his back and whisper "Shh baby you're ok" in his ear and his screams quieten down to small whimpers. "Dada. My?" Anna asks and I smile down at her, Anna pulling herself to her feet and stepping over next to me and I wrap my arm around her waist as I hold Miles to my chest with my other arm and say "Miles is alright baby." Anna reaches one hand out and starts gently patting Miles' back and he pulls his face out of my neck to babble at her, Anna offering him a smile and when I sit Miles back on the floor Anna leans down and presses another sloppy kiss to his cheek, making him giggle and try to push her away.

After breakfast Frank goes to take a shower and after I clean off Anna and Miles' faces I decide to take them out into the yard for a little while, the kids not getting to play outside a lot. Anna holds my hand while I carry Miles on my hip until we get onto the grass before she drops my hand and takes off, running over to a few birds sitting in a bush near the fence, screaming out "Cheep cheep" as she goes, scaring them away and I chuckle as I watch her stop, giggling and clapping her hands as she looks up and watches them fly away. I kneel down on the soft grass, taking Miles' socks off and standing him infront of me, supporting him with my hands around his waist and he shifts his feet, giggling and shrieking in delight at the tickling of the grass beneath his feet. "You like that huh?" I ask as I giggle along with him, keeping an eye on Anna who is racing around the yard exploring and the dark, almost black clouds looming in the sky above us. I start to bounce Miles, lifting him in the air before putting him back on his feet and he giggles and claps when a loud clap of thunder sounds, startling him and Anna lets out a squeal and starts running back towards us, clearly scared by the loud noise and just as she reaches me the sky opens and it starts pouring rain. "Oh no" Anna exclaims as she reaches me and Miles lets out a small whine of protest at getting wet and I quickly scoop him back up against my chest, standing up and taking Anna's hand and we start to hurry back towards the back porch but just as we reach the steps Anna steps in a puddle, making it splash up her leg and she lets out a giggle as she stops walking and starts stomping in it, making more and more water splash up everywhere and Miles is watching her intently. I let go of Anna's hand, the rain still pouring down on us but not as heavy and I step over to another puddle, Anna moving on to another aswell and I lower Miles so his feet are in the water, his little legs moving so he can stomp too, his whole body shaking with the delighted giggles escaping him and a few seconds later Frank comes out the back door, standing on the porch under the cover watching us, a fond smile on his face as he says "Come on guys before all three of you get sick" and Anna starts running towards the porch, yelling "Dada" as she stumbles up the stairs to Frank, babbling at a million miles an hour, her words unintelligible but it's clear she's excited.
