I'm Not Okay

I was sitting on my bed cross legged listening to The Misfits, when my bedroom door slammed open. I looked up half expecting it to be the Ways but we had buried them yesterday. Instead it was Pete and Patrick. I looked back down tracing the scars on my wrist. I felt a weight on either side of me and knew that they both sat down next to me. I paused my music and took out my head phones. I looked at both of them.

“Yes?” I asked.

Pete looked at Patrick and nodded for him to say it. He sighed quietly.

“Gerard…Pete told me about your dream.”

I looked down embarrassed and traced a pattern on my black bed sheets.

“Oh.” Was all I said.

“Oh honey! Don’t be embarrassed,” he placed a hand on top of mine and I looked up. “It is perfectly normal for you to dream about us not wanting to adopt you. But that’s not that case. We WANT to adopt you. If that’s okay with you of course.” He grabbed Pete’s hand and held it tightly. Pete held it back.

“Oh um yeah of course I do. I mean if it’s okay with you and yeah.” I played with my long newly dyed black hair.

“Gerard…of course we want you! Why else would we ask you?” I shrugged.

“Is that a yes or no?” Patrick asked nervously. I slowly nodded. He gave me a big grin then pulled me in a tight hug. I tensed up and my breath hitched. Patrick noticed and quickly released me.

“I-I’m sorry,” he stuttered out. I waved my hand and tried getting my breathing back under control.

“Oh and there’s something else…” Pete said. “It’s about your dad and uncle.”

I looked up sharply and fear flashed through my eyes and I moved back quickly. “W-w-what about them?” I whispered looking at them fearfully.

Pete took a deep breath. “I’m so sorry Gerard, but they broke out of prison. The police contacted us. And they’re after you. They will find you, and kill you.”

hope y'all had a fantabulous Christmas and New Year. I know i did my brother was on leave for two weeks so i got to spend time with him :)
