You're Not In This Alone

Four hours later I am wandering around my hospital room desperate for things to get underway. Dad and Pa are sitting beside the bed and Ryan has gone with Brendon to the cafeteria for coffee and just as I near the bed another contraction hits and I double over in pain, warm hands grabbing my arm to stable me and when I straighten back up its Ryan. "You did this to me" I yell at him and he smirks at me as he says "I'm so sorry but you weren't complaining at the time." "I could have lived my whole life without hearing that" Pa says and I shoot him a glare as yet another contraction hits. Ryan helps me back onto the bed and the doctor comes back in a few minutes later and checks on me again and he tells me I'm almost fully dilated and it shouldn't be too much longer. He leaves again and ten minutes later I start to feel different and the pain increases. I scream out and Brendon leaves the room, coming back with the doctor and a few nurses and the doctor tells me it's happening. Brendon, dad and pa leave the room and Ryan takes my hand letting me squeeze the life out of it as I push at the doctors instruction. Twenty extremely painful minutes later I hear the first sounds of my daughter screaming and I break into tears, so relieved that she's finally here and that the painful pushing is over. "Ry" I sob out and he looks from the baby to me. "Shh babe it's alright" he tells me and I nod, shifting a little and the nurse hands me the baby, laying her on my chest. I stare at her in awe and her little cries die down again as my hand rests on her back. "She's incredible" I breathe out and Ryan leans down and kisses my forehead before resting his hand over mine. "She's beautiful, just like her mom." I smile up at him and the nurse takes her back to perform some tests and clean her up. The doctor cleans me up and before he leaves the room he turns to Ryan and says "About the paternity test, we can organise that now." Ryan nods and one of the nurses comes over and takes a small blood sample. "We should have the results by tomorrow" she tells us and Ryan nods at her before she leaves.

The next morning I wake up and pa and dad are sitting by the bed, dad holding the baby while she sleeps and when pa notices I'm awake he smiles at me and says "How you feeling baby girl?" "I'm ok, how is she?" "Perfect." I close my eyes again for a minute and when I reopen them pa says "The nurse was in here before. They need a name baby." I sigh before opening my mouth and as I go to speak Ryan comes into the room. I turn my attention to him and say "Sophie?" Ryan smiles and says "I like it, it's perfect." Later that afternoon the doctor comes around to check up on us and I've just finished feeding Sophie, her little eyes fluttering shut again as Ryan cuddles her to his chest and he says "We have the results of the test. Ryan Ross, you are the biological father of Sophie."
