You're Not In This Alone

GERARD'S POV

We reach Matts apartment and Frank slams his fist into the door a few times, screaming out "Open the fucking door Matt." A few seconds later we hear Ruby scream out "Daddy" and Frank snaps, kicking the door until it flies open. We both run into the apartment, and Frank runs into the living room while I run towards the back of the apartment, looking for them. I run into the bedroom and what I see almost makes me throw up, my hands clenching into fists as I charge forward. Ruby is tied down, unconscious on the bed, blood gushing from her nose and some guy I've never seen before is kneeling between her legs, thrusting in and out of her while Matt stands by and watches. I scream out, grabbing him by the back of his hair and pulling him off her, throwing him to the floor before laying into him, kicking him in the face over and over until Matt grabs me and pulls me away, his friend laying on the floor whimpering before going still, blood gushing from his face. I turn to swing at Matt and he gets me first, slamming his fist into my jaw and knocking me to the floor. I attempt to stand and Matt swings at me again when I hear a click and suddenly Matt stills, his fist dropping. I stand up straight and Frank has his gun pressed hard into the back of Matts head. "Move and I'll blow you fucking head off" Frank spits out before kicking him in the back of the knee and causing him to drop to his knees, walking around to stand infront of Matt, pressing the gun to his forehead. I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts and I jump onto the bed, untying Ruby's arms and wrapping the blanket around her naked body, pulling her into my lap. "Wake up beautiful" I whisper to her as I cradle her head, stroking her hair. "Come on baby girl open your eyes" I beg as I start to cry. I rock her back and forth, gently slapping her cheek as I beg for her to wake up. She starts to stir and I gently stroke her hair again as I say "That's it, come on baby open your eyes." Her eyes slowly flutter open and she croaks out "Daddy" immediately bursting into tears as I pull her into my chest. "Shh Shh it's ok, daddy's got you baby girl" I whisper in her ear as I gently keep rocking her. I slowly stand from the bed, taking Ruby with me in my arms, keeping the blanket wrapped tightly around her while she buries her face in my neck and keeps crying. I pass Frank and Matt on my way out the door, Matts face severely busted up now as he kneels on the floor at gun point and I catch Franks eye and nod, conveying that he should pull the trigger. I keep walking, leaving the apartment and going down on the street, holding Ruby close as I hail a cab with great difficulty, getting her to the hospital. In the emergency room I tell the nurse that she's been raped and when they try to take her from me she screams like they're torturing her and she clings to my shirt. "Shh baby it's ok" I tell her, keeping her in my arms as I follow the nurse down the hall into an exam room, the nurse telling us she'll be right back with a doctor. I try to lay Ruby on the exam table but she screams again and clings to my shirt. "Baby I gotta put you down, the doctor needs to look, please baby, I'll be right here I promise you." Her sobs die down and I gently lay her on the table, standing beside her bed and letting her squeeze the hell out of my hand. "I'm right here baby" I whisper to her as I stroke her hair with my free hand. The doctor comes back and with a lot of difficulty we unwrap the blanket from around her and the doctor performs an exam, noting that she has some minor vaginal tearing which is the cause of the slight bleeding she has before moving on and looking at her face, determining her nose isn't broken. The whole time Ruby whimpers and cries and lets out a few screams and I cry along with her, my heart breaking to see her like this. When the doctor is done examining her he leaves the room and comes back with a gown for her to wear and some medication to take. After the doctor leaves again I help her into the gown and I pull the blanket on the bed over her before grabbing her hand again and taking a seat beside the bed, softly singing to her until she falls asleep again.

An hour later Frank comes into the room with a nurse before the nurse leaves again and Frank comes over to me. "Did you do it?" I ask and he stares into my eyes before saying "No, I wanted to so fucking badly but if I got caught, I couldn't do that to you and Ruby." I nod in understanding before he says "But I got even, hell more than even" and I nod again, knowing that whatever Frank did still wouldn't be enough in my mind. Frank pulls up another chair beside mine and I reach out with my free hand, clutching at his as I let a new wave of tears fall.
