Cemetery Drive

It was now Wednesday, and Gerard had spent the last two days just lying in bed. Mikey tried desperately to get him out his room and out the house. But the furthest Gerard could get was the kitchen. He just felt too empty, too heartbroken, too scared, too... tired to do anything.
"We're going to see him," Gerard said, making Mikey jump.
"We can't go see him," Mikey answered, standing up to look at his brother.
"Well, you can't" his younger brother crossed his arms and stared at him.
"I'd like to see them stop me, come on" Gerard shouted as he swung the front door open, wandering to the car.
"Gee they won't let you see him!" Mikey chased his brother to the car.
"Yes they will, they can't stop me" Gerard climbed into the car and started the engine, staring at his brother and motioning for him to get in. He sighed and walked back to the front door, closing and locking it before getting in the car.

Once the boys had finally been led to Frank's room, they saw his mother sitting on a chair next to the bed. Her head was down and she held his hand in hers tightly.
"Frankie, i'm so sorry honey, please just- just wake up" she pleaded quietly, letting out small sniffs and sobs as she pleaded her son to wake up. Mikey coughed awkwardly, getting her attention. She turned and looked at Mikey then Gerard, then Mikey again. She gave Mikey a small smile before standing up and walking to the brothers.
"How is he?" Mikey's voice came out quiet, he looked over at Frank.
"Better than Monday, but still not stable," she swallowed harshly and looked down at the floor. Mikey pulled her into a hug, letting her cry to him.
"I don't know why he would do this, I-I thought he would tell me if he felt like this again" she sobbed, clutching onto Mikey's shirt. Gerard wandered over to Frank's bed, looking down at him. He felt sick at the sight of Frank hooked up to a life support, heart monitor, and different types of tubes which were probably pumping food into his system.
"Oh Frankie" Gerard whimpered and fell onto the chair next to the bed.
"I'm so sorry" he whispered, grabbing Frank's small hand in his, rubbing his fingertips over Frank's knuckles gently. He pressed his lips to his cold, pale hand.
"Hey Gee, i'm getting some coffee, want some?" Mikey's voice pulled Gerard away from Frank as he turned around to look at his brother. He shook his head no, letting go of Frank's hand he stood up, allowing Frank's mum to take the seat again. They both stayed silent as they stared down at the boy, until Frank's mother spoke.
"Thank you" she stated simply, still watching her son.
"What for?" Gerard folded his arms, confused as to why she was thanking him.
"For taking care of Frank when I wasn't there to" she then turned to the teacher, staring at him so intensely he could almost feel it.
"Oh, well he's a good kid, a great student. I'd do anything for him" Gerard said the last part so quietly, hoping she didn't hear him.
"No, Gerard." she shook her head and rested her hand on her sons.
"He spoke about you all the time, it was sweet at first. I thought he had finally settled down, you know? But then I realised he spoke about you in such a way, like, almost as if he was talking about a boyfriend" she shuffled in the seat and carried on staring at the teacher. Gerard stuttered and took a step back, feeling completely shocked.
"He was finally happy, he would come home grinning, he would wake up and be thankful he was alive, he'd be looking forward to the day ahead. You made him so happy" a small smile made it's way to her face at the thought.
"You mean so much to him, and-" she sighed and pushed her head in her hands, not knowing what to say.
"Just, thank you. Thank you for taking him to see his father, thank you for holding him when he cried, when I wasn't there to make him feel better. Thank you so so much" she let out a small sob, making Gerard's heart ache a bit.
"I-I, you can't tell anyone, p-please?" Gerard looked back at her, a pleading look in his eyes.
"I'm not going to tell anyone, you made him happy. So happy" she looked back down at her son, squeezing his hand gently.
"Do you mind keeping an eye on him for a bit? I gotta get some sleep" Gerard nodded and watched her settle into the big arm chair in the corner of the room. He sat back into the chair, taking Frank's hand and pressing his lips to the slightly cut up flesh.
"Frankie, baby. God, I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry," Gerard felt tears run down his cheeks, keeping his lips close to Frank's hand.
"I love you, Frank. So much" he mumbled, squeezing his eyes shut, tears falling from his cheeks onto Frank's fragile hand.
"Please wake up, please be okay. Please, please just, don't leave us" Gerard sniffed quietly, unable to control the tears anymore. He let out a long, heavy sigh.
"I miss you, and... I love you... You're my everything and I don't think I can survive without you. I spent way too long without you, now you're here, in my life, I don't want you to leave. Ever" Gerard sobbed, wiping his eyes with the palms of his hands.
"Hey, Gee" Mikey rested his hand on his brother's shoulder, making him jump slightly.
"It's gunna be okay, yeah? He's gunna be fine" Mikey reassured his older brother, holding his brother close.
"But what if he's not, Mikes? What if he doesn't-"
"Hey hey hey, Gee. Don't think like that, it's gunna be fine, I promise" he mumbled into Gerard's hair, stroking his fingers through it gently.
"I love him so much, Mikey" Gerard started to cry again, clinging to his younger brother.
"I know, Gerard, I know" Mikey held his brother tighter, suddenly feeling guilt hit him like a ton of bricks. This was all his fault. He made Gerard break up with Frank. Frank did this because Gerard left him.
