Cemetery Drive

For the rest of the weekend, Gerard had sat around in bed watching tv. He couldn't bring himself to do anything else. It was now Monday and he was sitting at his desk, waiting for his first class to turn up. Unfortunately, it was the class Frank was in. Gerard sighed heavily and leant his head against the desk. He heard the door swing open and students shuffling in, talking about their weekend. When he heard the students settling down and he lifted his head and started to call names for the register.
"Mikey?"
"Yeah"
"F-Frank?" Gerard's voice cracked a bit. He waited for the boy to answer but heard nothing.
"Frank?" Gerard turned to his head to look at the student but saw Mikey sitting alone.
"Where's Frank?" he asked, feeling agitated. The students looked around at each other and started to whisper. He noticed Brendon's face scrunching up a bit as he pushed his head into his arms. Gerard was now feeling impatient.
"God damn it, where's Frank?!" the class suddenly fell silent.
"I'm not going to ask again! Where's. Fra-" Gerard was interrupted by someone slamming their hands on the table.
"He's in hospital!" Brendon screamed, pushing his chair back, making it fall over, and storming out the classroom. Gerard was frozen to the spot. In hospital? Why? He started to feel himself panic.
"I-I'll be right b-back" Gerard mumbled before rushing out the room, stumbling into the corridor. He ran his fingers through his hair and tugged at it, desperately wanting to scream. He felt his legs running, taking him to the staff room. He burst through the door and looked around at the teacher's in there.
"Why didn't anyone tell me Frank was in hospital?!" he shouted and stormed further into the room.
"I just fucking stood in front my art class demanding they tell me where he is!" the teacher's stared at him, not saying a word.
"Brendon just ran out! I don't know where he is now!" Gerard felt tears stinging his eyes. Suddenly the principal stepped forward and grabbed Gerard's shoulder.
"Come with me, Gerard" he said as he guided the teacher into his office. Gerard sat at the desk and watched as the principal sat on the other side.
"I'm terribly sorry we didn't inform you, Gerard. We were going to send an email around at break. Obviously that's not soon enough." Gerard watched his boss sigh heavily, closing his eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.
"Can I ask what happened?" Gerard's voice came out small and broken.
"He was found in the park, early yesterday morning. He uh- they think, they believe, he had cut his wrists.." Gerard felt light headed. He was found in the park, where Gerard had left him crying. Gerard's head fell forward and he stared at his hands, shaking his head slightly.
"We know Mikey and Frank were close friends, so we're going to let Mikey have the week off, just to make sure he's alright." Gerard nodded gently, feeling tears build up.
"You can also have the week off, to stay with Mikey. We think it'll be best" Gerard nodded again.
"Thank you" he whimpered, finally looking up at the principal.
"His mother said she will keep us updated with his condition"
"How is he at the moment?" Gerard dared to ask, though he was terrified of the answer.
"Not great" he answered bluntly. Gerard nodded and sighed, pushing himself out the chair. He smiled weakly at his boss before leaving the room. This was all his fault, he knew it.
